16:45 - 17:38 I love this! I love seeing how happily married Gene and Helen Rayburn were! Here they are joking with each other without having the intent of hurting the other person!
This was so much fun to watch 👏 Gene and Helen are so adorable 🥰. Gosh Gene is the only sweet, caring and sincere Husband. The other men are terrible jerks and they treat the poor wives poorly, I hope those poor women watched this when it aired and got a dose of reality and left those egotistical men for better greener pastures, they deserve better. Gene and Helen are a Wonderful Delightful loving couple. Thank you for sharing 👍👍 Stay safe healthy and happy 😃✝️🇺🇸
Those husbands, hoo boy, are they difficult. But then there's Gene Rayburn. Sweet, kind and genuinely caring. It's no wonder he and Helen were married for so long! They were clearly made for each other, a match (no pun intended) made in heaven!
👍👏👏👏🥰. I really enjoyed watching this. I knew Gene was a good guy.. he showed a lot patience. He was great on Match Game. It was good to see Gene and Helen on here. He often spoke fondly of her on the show. He just seemed happy. Helen was a lucky woman. I was sad to learn Gene was Cremated. Has no final resting place for fans to visit and pay Respect. He is still loved, us Match Game Watchers know Gene is not Forgotten. Love, respect and positivity always. Vee, Andrew and Family.🙂🤗🥰✌️🖖👋.
The forerunner to Tattle Tales. This game show was hosted by Joe Garagiola, a St. Louis native who once played for his hometown Cards in MLB. Then Tattle Tales, coincidentally, was hosted by another St. Louis native, legendary game show host/entertainer Bert Convey. I would assume "He Said She Said" was presented on NBC because Joe G worked for the peacock network post-MLB as a game show host, Today Show personality and sports announcer. Man could he do it all. RIP Joe and Bert.
I’m from New York but have lived in London my whole adult life. Can you please tell me what “played for his hometown Cards in MLB” means? It doesn’t make sense to me? I remember Joe G vaguely as a TV personality and guest celebrity. Thanks.
The pilot for this series, called "It Had to Be You", was shot for NBC in 1965 and hosted by Ed McMahon...the major difference was that all four couples were civilians.
The two in the middle - mr. stratton and mr. babbawall(or whatever) - are assess. I hope that their wives smartened up and left them OR that the men smartened up and started appreciating their wives.
My god, I was JUST ready to say this. Thank you! LOL! Especially after the comment from Ass #1, "I wasn't talking about you." I nearly hit my jaw on the floor! She was beautiful, I, too hope she left his ugly, sorry chauvie ass! Ha!! 👋😊😉
Wasn't there a show where some of the new York Mets players and their wives appeared? I know there were three Mets bachelors who appeared on the Dating Game, which I just found out 54 years after the fact.
I love it when the game host have to play another game as participants i. e. :Bill Cullen , Dick Clark and lter Richard Dawson on the Match Game switched to Family Feud as host .
I couldn't and wouldn't take half the crap those woman put up with. That Mr. Stratton & Babbawhal (?). I would have left Stratton with his dogs & his temper, Wonder if it worked out ?
Wow, I misjudged Mr. Rayburn since I was a kid! As a kid in the 70's, he seemed like a 'dirty ole man' to me on Matchgame but this changes my view entirely:) I wonder how long they were married?
cute show - obviously a precursor of tattletales. i actually like this show better, cuz of the content of the questions - not nearly as risque. from watching this episode, i would say garagiola is not the best host. they need to have a better way of judging hands. the buzzer in tattletales was an excellent fix. the 2 guys were pretty rotten. but i think they just got a couple of bad contestants. my thought would be to have some sort of interview system, before couples are allowed on the show. i think it would have filtered out both of these guys.

Gene is so sweet! He has such a happy energy about him:D Wish I could find a sweet man like him.

I'm available. I'm also a grabber as well as sweet

This show is the predecessor of Tattletales.
Indeed!

What a loving couple they were. Popped over to his imdb and they were 'til death do we part for close to 60 years! Wonderful!
The theme used for this show was also used on the 1967 ABC game show, "Everybody's Talking".
I noticed that! "EVERYBODY'S TALKING" was created by veteran TV gane show host and producer Jack Barry.
Those husbands, hoo boy, are they difficult. But then there's Gene Rayburn. Sweet, kind and genuinely caring. It's no wonder he and Helen were married for so long! They were clearly made for each other, a match (no pun intended) made in heaven!
I have always love Gene’s voice. This show was definitely the predecessor to Tattletales.

I never knew that this game show existed back then. I'm glad that the Rayburns won the game, they are a sweet couple.

I have never heard of this show. I was a kid in 1969. I was always outside playing 😂😂
Fun Fact,Bert Convy was a gaff consultant on this show. That’s how this paved the way for Tattle Tales in the 1970’s.
I recognize the theme music. It was used for the 1967 game show Everybody's Talking, which was hosted by Lloyd Thaxton.
It was soon changed to an original which was later used in What's My Line.
It makes so much sense how Gene is with his wife

Bert Convy was a gaff attendant on this show.

The Rayburn's are adorable. Helen is so cute. They seem like a very well matched duo. :)
I never heard of this game show I like it alot! 😇
In Germany this show was called "Sie und er im Kreuzverhör" (She and He under cross-examination) with german celebrities, 1971-73.
Never saw this show and now I know why!

Evidently this was the forerunner to tattle tales, I guess I'm just a little too young to remember these
The husbands (except for Gene and the guy on the end) seem not very nice. I wonder if they stayed together?
This was the predecessor to Tattle Tales.
This looks like an early version of Tattletales, am I right? By the way, I don't believe that the screens are just simply props.
Laura Kruk and the newlywed game
It is. The screens are chroma keyed
Never heard of two of these couples.
This is a black and white Kinescope of a color program.
Wow, these 'men' (except for Mr.. Rayburn) are just unbelievable...
im old enough to remember "tattletales" with Bert Convy. this is basically the exact same show.
Wasn't there a show where some of the new York Mets players and their wives appeared? I know there were three Mets bachelors who appeared on the Dating Game, which I just found out 54 years after the fact.

I never head tell of this show. How long was it on?
we later called this tattle tales
This program was in fact an earlier version of TATTLETALES.
Gene is a sweetheart, but those other guys are jerks!
Hard to say about the one who didn't even talk.
Interesting...this show used the same theme music as an ABC game show, "Everybody's Talking". Look for the clip!
I couldn't and wouldn't take half the crap those woman put up with. That Mr. Stratton & Babbawhal (?). I would have left Stratton with his dogs & his temper, Wonder if it worked out ?
Just think, one year before this, Joe Garagiola met John Lennon and Paul McCartney on TV.
(P.S Does anyone have a full copy of this theme?)
And.....?
I believe this is the pilot. Notice the other three couples are civilians.
At least, it backfired until 1974
Did this become "Tattle Tales"? Anyway, it falls far short of "What's My. Line", "To Tell the Truth" and "I've got a Secret".
It was sold to CBS and they changed the name to Tattle Tales and Bert Convy got his break because he was a gaff consultant on He Said She Said.
Why did he take 10 points away from the couple that got it right?
You have to be first to answer
This looks like it might be a kinescope of a color episode.
seems like a predecessor to the newlywed game
The two men in the middle have a lot to learn from Gene.
The Coles - Team 4 never raised their hand in time, so never could win or lose points.
15:19, her hand was up third, but host didn't see it.
The only one I recognize is Gene Rayburn....who are the others? :-)
Lena Smolon this is the first format where one celebrity played against 3 civilian couples. Later in the run it changed to all celebrities
Raising the hand isn’t very effective or accurate.
Actually, you weren't that far off the mark. This show was kind of the basis of Tattletales which came along a few years later. :) Very astute. :)
I Like the name of this one better than tattletales
It seemed to be kind of a cross between Tattletales and The Newly-Wed Game. Not a great idea. Much better when it was just celebrities.
This is a predecessor of Tattletales
@99superomar99 TVPMM has it
Seeing how Newlywed Game was going on by this I guess G-T wanted to see if they can try to copy it with this show, but it backfired.
I hadn't seen this one. Yep, Tattletales evolved from this show.
No shit,Sherlock
Is this a precursor to Tattle Tales
Those 'TVs' are just props. The viewing part is trick photography. In "Tattletales", they used actual Sony monitors.
They used Chromakey.
Is this the original blueprint for Tattletales?
diff version of newly wed game
Wow, I misjudged Mr. Rayburn since I was a kid! As a kid in the 70's, he seemed like a 'dirty ole man' to me on Matchgame but this changes my view entirely:) I wonder how long they were married?
Married for 56 years
Delicious delicious (I wasn’t talking about you!) ugh what a creep! “He’s always looking “
I'm sorry but Gene's wife looks way older than him
Gene Rayburn passed into "game show heaven" in 1999, at the age of 82. Joe Garagiola passed into "game show heaven" in 2015.

Yes, Tattletales was a much better format. But Gene should have hosted that, too.
He was busy.
Gene was the host for Match Game which was on right before Tattletales.
Gene did host a few episodes.
that would have been nice, but i thought Bert Convy did a fine job. he was a likable guy.

What terrible husbands!!! Exempt Gene Rayburn :)
These women are in controlling abusive marriages!😮
Helen is lucky, dumb game that last couple doesn't get to play at all
Very disturbing show. Someone’s getting slugged tonight. Probably the blonde who’s afraid of her husband and has every right to be. He’s a brute!
Another lame game show.
Beyond unwatchable, unstomachable. I'm about to lose my lunch
