Just a heads-up on the P1 to P4 classes. These are specific to the Endurance Brasil championship and can't be compared to LMP2 and LMP3 cars that we know in WEC or IMSA. If you look at race broadcasts (they're up on YT and livestreamed), P1s are a bit faster than GT3s and the lower prototypes blend in the middle. Quite annoying for multiclass but that's how the real series work.
Hey Valentin, thanks for the comment, I was aware of this and actually have this very point of education outside of common series being a plus as well as a weird con of AMS2; th-cam.com/video/qOeRg5zex6o/w-d-xo.html
@@bandrefilipe I was under the impression this wasn't true as last I looked on the official stuff it was still missing the Fezza's and I think one other, maybe lambo?
Another heads-up is that the GT classes of AMS2 aren't really related with EUR of NA... they run a full mixed bag of fabrication year, with very different components, methods for BoP and not all models race in Brazil. AMS2 is just missing a Ferrari and a Lambo since there is no more Aston car. It's all mixed up with the Ps. There is way more models missing from the real Copa Classic (from Rio Grande do Sul, that is what Reiza took as base... not even considering the São Paulo cup, that have much more models) than from Império Endurance Brasil (the Ps and GTs)
I would also mention the race gloves. We still have the weird rubber ones from PC2, which I don't necessarily mind, but we REALLY need to be able tp pick which gloves we want insted of just getting a random pair assigned with weird colors. Might seem like a non-issue, but it is very annoying as a VR player since you see the gloves right in your face evertime you play.
interesting little thing you mentioned ive never thought of that one before, it'd be a pretty neat little niche feature. From memory they have now added the ability to change helmets not sure how much else of the driver is able to be repainted though.
Spot on. Most of those issues have been pointed since few months after the release but have not been sorted. Ams2 has 2 kind of fan base , the first one is formed by guys like you somewhat objective and realist and the second group is a little bit over passionate and emotional that defended AMS2 almost blindly. This second group promoted the idea that setup could fix most of AMS2 issues and Reiza seems to have listened to them more than the other. Unfortunately for AMS2 AC2 Forza 8 and Rennsport and even GT7 with Sophy AI are around the corner and are starting to attract serious attention, this will reduce AMS2 visibility and growth with a non negligible way. People would prefer to save money to buy the new sim or content. . So it's seems that the actual state of AMS2 is close to its final state as the sim is already 3 years old. Not sure those issues will be fixed in the remaining 2 years of a standard non officially moddable sim lifecycle. I will be pleased to be wrong...An another thing i would add to your list is the pricing. AMS2 is selling standard tracks individually as a DLC. For being a ''medium quality ''' if we consider your points in the video the pricing is generally expensive compared to the others even with steam sales.
Interesting list and I agree with most of it. I'm assuming you rarely, if ever, play league races on dedicated servers within the last 6 months? I can tell you now, that every league in AMS 2 for the last 6 months have far worse problems than the ones you pointed out sadly. A new bug came in within the last year with dedicated servers. At random, and it's different for each session of a race and for each race, some people would look like their cars are floating ever upwards instead of driving. This will only show to a random selection of people. Those people who SEE the floating cars, need to disconnect and reconnect to the server, look at every car again, and if the floating is gone, they can continue that session. If they DON'T do this, they will not be able to see that floating car owner on the track at all, they will essentially be invisible to them, so they could easily, without knowing eat, completely destroy the race for that person by driving in to them.
Damn, and yes I know about the ded server stuff purely from experience online with the public ones and the whispers and moaning of friends and people ive seen commenting about there experiences online with them. Ironically for a good few months I use to run weekly Sunday evening sessions, and for months even with live streaming, at the same time I found no issues just clicking host, setting up the sessions and spending the evening having a blast online with viewers. Very funky that the dedicated side is the side with all these massive issues,
I agree with most of them, the inconsistency between the default setups amongst different cars is high up my list, especially when you read on the forum that the default setups on for example the indycars arent suited for ovals, you first need to tinker with them, and the devs know exactly what to change, but seemingly its hard to make a default setup for oval tracks, and for regular tracks, even with the help of an "setup expert". Also them hiring/buying game elements from a well known cheater/hacker, who also is probably the most hated person in simracing, is in my book a no-go. Another thing is Reiza not fixing gamebreaking bugs that got introduced with an update, for example Snetterton and 2001 Imola, who have been unusable for almost 2 months now, imagine if those were paid DLC tracks, people would think twice before buying any other dlc then. But the biggest issue is the one Philip mentioned, the floating/invisible car bug on a dedi server which was introduced several months ago, and really ruins the online experience for leagues. Dont get me wrong, the driving experience in general is really good, and i love ams2 a lot as you know, which is also why i mostly stream/race on AMS2, but they really need to start fixing a lot of the (longstanding) bugs first, before announcing any new DLC, apart from the adrenaline pack, which is part of the season pass ofcourse, but i sincerely hope they focus on fixing issues for the remainder of the year.
Yer I agree, and from what I have read in the update notes it does somewhat sound like this is the plan, fingers crossed! In an ideal world they will work with the LFM guys, ask what they need, provide it and get AMS2 on the LFM platform as a plug and play sim would do well on LFM, just like ACC does. Buy the game, log into LFM, done. The massive strength of AMS2 is that plug and play aspect, hope they build on it.
Interesting, when playing offline, I find the custom modded AI in AMS2 to be some of the best in all of sim racing today. (I use the Timo Dick modified AI files from RD).
It frustrates me to all hell that we can’t pick each car and each livery for our grid. Like we can in AC, R3E, iRacing and frustratingly in RF2. I’m just gonna assume it can’t be done in the Madness Engine? The only reason I play AMS2 is for the classic content. From GT1 and Group C, Classic GT cars to all the vintage open wheel cars. Basically anything pre 2000s. Combined with the old tracks no other developers in the industry have the balls or imagination to release content like that. Reiza doesn’t seem to be controlled by eSports and manufactures which is great. However if a lot of these issue you mentioned don’t get fixed and things like full custom grids with manageable player made liveries doesn’t get implemented. My time with AMS2 will be limited.
Yer got to agree, but also I think its fair to say AMS2 is traditionally during its lifetime so far the most updated sim, with nice regular updates and fixes + new content so I say there is a decent amount of hope for this stuff.
Fair list, the inconsistent car quality is the main gripe for me. The track quality is very high and performance is great. I now only jump in and do ‘last to first’ quick races with the half dozen cars that feel really well sorted. I’ve been driving AMS2 since release and the devs have done some great work but I’m losing faith with it now.
If you start to get burn out, get another sim or 2 loaded in and try to spread your hobby out a bit is the advice I can give. Check out my 5 things I love video too, I am trying to be as balanced as possible with this series.
If you only use custom liveries and custom Ai files, there is no problem in multiclass. Issues occur when you mix custom files with the ones of the vanilla game. No big thing for me, as I only drive with custom liveries and AI. What was horrible for me was the implementation of different car models in certain classes, as I had to adjust so many custom liveries, sometimes paint new ones from scratch for the low downforce models. MP indeed is a pain. So many bugs that I stopped playing online, because so often some weird problem occurs.
That's interesting as what you state is exactly the issue I am having, when I use custom liveries with custom AI it all goes to pot and the grids go mental, the entire custom grid system breaks. However if I just use custom AI its all fine, I did a little experiment and posted it on the Reiza forums about my own findings that custom liveries just seem to utterly break the custom grid system.
@@lewisbloom Did not do multiclass for a while because it is not my prefered kind of stuff. But with latest update, Reiza brought many new bugs to the game (for example: In Formula Classic, there are no drivers in car anymore when using custom liveries and so on) and then went for long holidays. Nothing had been fixed since more than a month. Maybe they f.cked up this multiclass thing, too. That's what annoys me most about Reiza and AMS2: Releasing stuff without proper testing and then they need ages for bugfixing. Edit: Reiza loves to delete cars from classes when updating game without telling us in the forum or in patch notes. So, a class which had let's say 36 cars (12 of 3 different manufacturers) all over sudden has only 30 cars. Then, when having custom liveries and AI, game walks amok even if you just race against opponents of same class, because the xml - files do not fit anymore. Everytime I had such troubles, I found out that Reiza had changed the number of cars within the class. But unfortunately, I still am addicted to this title. Fell in love with some of the cars and spend a lot of time with painting liveries. 😉
So, every time you have troubles with customized liveries and AI, check if the amount of cars in your file is the same than ingame. If you just use custom AI and original cars of the game, check if Reiza did change the names of some single cars (what they have done quite often in the past).
@@blablabla1612 Awesome clues, thankyou. Its only liveries that cause the issues for me the AI custom files ive been using are a slightly edited Timo Dick's custom files, since in his videos he is primarily offline and his videos show some awesome AI races its great to be able to have that on my system too. The AI files seem all good, hoping your kind clues to the livery issue might help me solve that, though it would be nice to have a fix from Reiza given that they support this stuff apparently.
@@lewisbloom One last thing (but guess you will know that): Car name in the custom AI xml must be exactly the same than in the xml of the livery in the vehicle folder. If there is a mistake, the livery of course will show up ingame, but not the driver name.
The 5 things list is a great concept but I feel like some of these points could've been maybe addressed with more knowledge into how the sim works. Point 5 as an example of the weird classes has been called out before, the P1's aren't really trying to call themselves LMP1 and even with licensing being one of the potential reasons as to why, the cars within P1 actually become the same sort of speed as LMP3 in real life. The ginetta as an example is a track day car that you can buy and race with based on the Ginetta LMP3 that was apparently going to run in the Le Mans Cup. Once you take into account the fact the top class in P1 is actually in fact an LMP3 in performance and even then there are differences, it makes the P2, P3 and P4 options seem... Pointless. You run them as traffic or in their own class as slower options. I'd LOVE to see AMS2 get actual prototypes and hypercars like the DPi, for example bringing in the Acura, Mazda, etc. Flesh out the DPi class and then include the LMP2 and LMP1 class could be an awesome addition. Looking at some of the other points, the consistency issue is one that annoys me too. I never know what to expect whenever I drive a car and always prepare for the worst just in case things get messy. This would need to improve for AMS2 to really take off and when it does, this sim will be perfect for people looking into a jump and drive type sim. For the most part I agree with your points but would like to also mention on the controller support point, this could be solved with an auto-detect feature and no presets. Let people make their own profiles and the controller issues go away.
Thanks Ray for the comment and sub, really appreciated. Hope you are able to check out some of the other videos in the series, so far ive tackled AMS2 and AC with a look at my personal pro and cons of each.
I agree with all. I hate the debris left on track after a wreck! I hate the race starting where your thrown in the car rolling and ready to wreck (arcade). Rolling start, start from pit lane, wtf!! The bugs bugs bugs… too many too list. It’s a great lot of fun hotlapping the mp4/4 ALL the CART cars but when it comes to racing, forget about it
Not sure its quiet that bad, and I would certainly recommend you try the rolling start at different circuits. What I found is that some circuits really don't work with it but the majority work fine with rolling starts at least in my experience offline and hosting lobbies online. I tend to just try to bare in mind exactly which circuit I am selecting for a rolling start race. The ghost debris on track is a pita left over from PCars, including the ghost smoke! Such an annoying bug for sure, that affects MP and SP.
@@lewisbloom I like to “simulate” so I’ll run a car (98CART) on the few circuits they have on here. All the CART races were rolling starts. Oval racing in ams2 is really, a joke. Reiza really imo just threw the oval stuff together without really doing it right. IMS (Indy 500), the pit lane pit speed line is in the wrong place. The qualifying is group qualifying lol wtf, did they never even watch a race there. It’s cool they have the cars but let’s get it right.
Couldn't agree more. You are spot on. One more thing, as someone already said is the over rotation on throttle plus the unstableness when turbocharger kicks in for some cars. One more for me is the absence of a mid race save. What's the point of endurance races if we can't save and continue. Especially if you are a family man.
Yup its great to have them in the sim, loads of fun and wild to experience, just wish the fields as a whole where fleshed out and consistent, the models for the ones you mention are some of the worse in the sim for example.
@@IronwillNeo no, the models themselves the actual eye candy the 3d model. Very basic models, cockpits really not too detailed and super basic textures
Fully agree with your list of dislikes there (with all the caveats considered, such as the confusing classes being both a strength of the sim in terms of offering unique racing other sims don't, and a con if you're looking for the more mainstream series that are most popular in simracing). Just something to point out is that Brazil is a western country (literally in the Americas, can't go more west than that), so perhaps "westernized" isn't quite the expression you're looking for when it comes to non-brazillian things.
Sorry that'd be a bit of a mission to sort, and also its changing with each update. Ive found GT3, GT4 cars to be mostly ok though, some of the Brazilian COPA stuff is good, but on the other side some open wheeler stuff feels really weird like the turning is from the center of of the car and weirdly slidey for downforce cars.
Yes replays that you cannot skip or in the case of TimeTrial as very limited to last lap rather than your whole session are super annoying. Thanks for the comment Mike, I overall agree the pros outweigh the cons for me personally.
I dont think they are the same thing, I think the one you mention is based on the earlier ams1, but AMS2 does hold all the Brazilian licenses for a bunch of there big stock car series.
My no1 pet peeve the over rotation on throttle introduced with the big physics changes. I get it with the really powerful cars but even the lessers ones can do it in 3rd gear where there would never be any traction loss in a million years. It just seems overdone and feels horrible and seems not life like (again I know its a thin in RL but it just seems exagerrated).
Yup a royal PITA to not be able to play easily with friends. Its gotten better over time but still a pain in the butt. rf2 LFM however is pretty awesome and well worth a go if you havnt checked it out.
It's a shame Reiza went with the abominable Project Cars. They (and we) would have been better off if they'd done paid mods for AC imo. Why fight the crappy Madness engine all the time?
I got to say I don't agree, the madness engine I don't think is crappy, just used quite poorly in previous games. I think a great test of this is to run PCars and then run AMS2 to see just how far things have come. For performance, looks and features it smashes all over the competition in many areas too.
Compared with many other titles out there this game definitely does not make the list for me at all.. I tested all titles that matter back to back and this one was honestly the worst experience..
That's interesting and I think is fair to say isn't the norm in the hobby, whilst its not everyone's favourites its normally still up there with a jump in and go fun. When did you last try the sim (given the continued development) and what where your irks with it?
@@lewisbloom Sure you are welcome! I tried all titles last two weeks including this one.. So yeah for me it was night and day and had to uninstall AMS2 within one hour, it just did not look and feel right to me, hard to point out but overall it feels not very well polished in many aspects and they are also lacking when it comes to online racing ect - the only good thing to say about it from me is that they have good VR support and can be fun that way, but overall I consider it more 'simcade'.. My favorite is Assetto Corsa with content manager and good mods setup for freeroaming and has some great online community servers - it is also the go to if you are into drifting cars.. Then after that for true racing, I would just stick with Assetto Corsa Competizione and use the online LFM ranking system.. That way I can just avoid and steer away from iRacing since I see that as like FiFa and F1, which to me are total overpriced moneygrab ripoff franchises, do not get me started.. I would even choose RaceRoom over iRacing since it also has good ranking system and good VR support and the content in there should cost much less than iRacing.. Dirt 2.0 if you want good (VR) rally experience, and that is about it.. All in all I would just stick with Assetto Corsa, it truly is the #1 racing sim out there, best graphics, best sounds and best physics, all laser scanned full fidelity force feedback, great polish and community ect.. That title is just pure premium and very cheap to get more than enough content you can desire for racing.. It just shines in all ways possible for me and is made with true passion and dedication to deliver the best experience and has the resources to deliver and set the bar where it should be.. Cheers!
Repaints? Who cares? There are so many other issues that are impacting so many other people that are way more important, like consistency, poor sounds with many cars...
Because like you mentioned its a feature advertised that currently doesn't work. Remember these are just my points, I am sure you would have your own top 5 hates and loves about AMS2.
@@MikkSchleifer yer I think it goes back to the consistency thing, I tend to run default but they can be all over the place rather than what I guess is a true neutral default is what I've found. Its definitely improved over time so I hope they keep updating them.
Nice to just throw it out there without mentioning why you think its Arcade, and i hope your not gonna say that its the same as PC2, because of the same engine, cause that would mean ACC and FortNite could be stated as being the same as well, cause you know....same engine....lol
Can’t even back up his claim. In my eyes it’s a proper sim. Has lots of issues with the game but not arcade. Maybe it’s arcadey to you because you use all the assists. 🤷♂️

Let people make their own profiles and the controller issues go away.
yes its a bit all over, though I think the top class is more P2 than P3 as they can spank GT3's.
@@lewisbloom it's a P3 on roids, I genuinely believe a proper LMP2 would dominate them
@@AvaRVN Hopefully we see it one day to properly test this in sim
enjoyable vid with some very valid comments, subbed cheers
@@RacingWithChuck27 yer the Oval stuff is very much work in progress and far far far behind the road race stuff which is quiet polished.
It is not so much a hate issue but with such good weather transitions this game would be perfect for endurance if it had an in race save.
Yes a bit of a lost feature among modern sims, the ability to click ESC button to get to menu in which you can save progress for the offline folks.
Yes the old save features just missing from modern titles
Well, matter of fact, these fiat unos and fuscas (beetles) are still ran to this day in Brazil, reason why these are at AMS2.
Yup its great to have them in the sim, loads of fun and wild to experience, just wish the fields as a whole where fleshed out and consistent, the models for the ones you mention are some of the worse in the sim for example.
@@lewisbloom Worst to combine or worst to drive?
Damn good point 🤦♂️ Mainstream would be far better, noted for future reference
Can you list what are the good cars and which cars are not?
Sorry that'd be a bit of a mission to sort, and also its changing with each update. Ive found GT3, GT4 cars to be mostly ok though, some of the Brazilian COPA stuff is good, but on the other side some open wheeler stuff feels really weird like the turning is from the center of of the car and weirdly slidey for downforce cars.
Replays for me, they kind of suck compared to the competition. But the positives far outweigh the negatives for me.
Yes replays that you cannot skip or in the case of TimeTrial as very limited to last lap rather than your whole session are super annoying. Thanks for the comment Mike, I overall agree the pros outweigh the cons for me personally.
AMS2 is a great game but has so many issues all at the same time. I mostly just do single player and put my times up against others in time trials.
I thought Automobilista2 was the main sim for Copa Petrobras de Marcas series like the one they gave away on Steam except Autobilist2 you pay for.
It's just such a shame that you need a degree in Nuclear Physics to host a dedicated server in RF2.
Yup a royal PITA to not be able to play easily with friends. Its gotten better over time but still a pain in the butt. rf2 LFM however is pretty awesome and well worth a go if you havnt checked it out.
@@lewisbloom Thanks Lewis, yes I dabbled in their BTCC series for a bit.
Cheers!
still bloody waiting for bathurst 1983 track . i think is a total joke
For a free track I am not sure id call it a joke its still on track *pardon the pun* for this year
Repaints? Who cares? There are so many other issues that are impacting so many other people that are way more important, like consistency, poor sounds with many cars...
Because like you mentioned its a feature advertised that currently doesn't work. Remember these are just my points, I am sure you would have your own top 5 hates and loves about AMS2.
even more reasons to not drive this :D
now now, the series is balanced, and todays video is 5 things I love about AMS2 th-cam.com/video/qOeRg5zex6o/w-d-xo.html
Stock Sets done by Steelcast, maybe Problem here on your side, always use them and really slow with, NOT !!!!!
You mean the setup part?
@@lewisbloom Yeah, never had a prob there✌️
@@MikkSchleifer yer I think it goes back to the consistency thing, I tend to run default but they can be all over the place rather than what I guess is a true neutral default is what I've found. Its definitely improved over time so I hope they keep updating them.

Couldn't care less about repaints.
Cool, real liveries not for you, what do you care about then, what would be on your list of the 5 things that erk you about AMS2?
@@lewisbloom Consistency of the quality of the cars is the most annoying part I think for me. I rather have less cars, but only good ones.
Yer I am with you there the classes being weirdly fleshed out and thanks for commenting Frank!
Automobilista 2 = Arcade ! Sorry
Interested to know what makes you say that, that then cannot be applied to other titles on the market?
Nice to just throw it out there without mentioning why you think its Arcade, and i hope your not gonna say that its the same as PC2, because of the same engine, cause that would mean ACC and FortNite could be stated as being the same as well, cause you know....same engine....lol
Lol, arcade. If this is arcade, what game is classes as a sim?
Can’t even back up his claim. In my eyes it’s a proper sim. Has lots of issues with the game but not arcade. Maybe it’s arcadey to you because you use all the assists. 🤷♂️
@@lewisbloom Loud youtuber said that 2 years ago, and people parrot that with that PC2 reference nonsense without actually trying the sim.
