I put in a couple laps then hit the auto button on the black box. It’s also important to change your horizon setting because iRacing sets it as if your head is always at a 45 degree position looking down.
Perhaps you don't know about it, but you ignored stating the relation that the "Intensity" setting plays when using the F9 / Graphics Adjustment [auto] options. - iRacing sets this Intensity at 50% by default, but I see users change this all the time when they get in the sim, trying to make changes to FFB. The problem is that it is totally unused until and only when using the [auto] option. - At 50% Intensity, the [auto] option will set the peak FFB so the dynamic range is 50% of the "Wheel force" setting that is usually set to match the peak allowed by the wheelbase. So this will give a FFB force setting around the middle of your wheelbase capability overall. - In the old days of super low FFB (below 5nm), this Intensity was actually 100% since we had weak power wheels. They changed the default some time ago as stronger DD became more common, since the lower values are the safer ones. - People can tweak the Intensity value up or down to suit their preferences, especially if they frequently dial up/down the values from the [auto] button. - Additionally, you didn't mention one basic goal of the [auto] function is to employ a full dynamic range of FFB (within the Intensity & Wheel force limits) such that it applies higher forces while avoiding clipping. That is within the context of the lap driven and the forces experienced in the car up to the point of hitting [auto]. So things like hitting curbs, walls or anything that exceeds the loads of the pre-auto selection may exceed the clipping point of the wheelbase. This is usually considered fine, even good since the goal of this tool is to give the most force for a given variable set without losing clarity via clipping.
This looks carnage lol ive lost track after second instruction 😂
(! - I love Gran Turismo; I hate Assetto Corsa. Period. - !)
The Mcclaren c-12 or whatever its called is a complete piece of garbage. THey made that car so bad in AC. Understeering so bad i cant even progress any further on the game.
tbh in 2024 I think the vast majority of us all drive third party mod cars with extended physics and what not anyway.
Hi Lewis I'll definitely jump on this what car should I use lol I have a pull towards the nova the mini in vr will probably be too bumpy at kenya 😅
Yer man get on it! The Lancia is the quicker car and the guys have said the easier one maybe too as it takes the bumps better. But The Nova was the natural choice for me haha
How about making it playable on controller
The original is very controller friendly (for pc) apparently, be good to see that carry on for sure
I get the feeling that the tyre model is going to be the only big thing coming for AC2. It would be nice if you could import mod's into AC2. The cars at least, I the track's might to complicated to port over, unless someone creates something to do it.

Appreciate the info🙏🏾. How do I turn off auto ffbo in the iracing menu? It's grayed out and won't allow me to uncheck😟
Sorry for the late reply, how do you mean turn it off?
Are you talking about the "DRIVE" tab in the iRacing settings page? - Presumably then the "[__] Auto" section at the end of the line labeled " Wheel force"? - If so, the "Auto" option there is simply controlling the "Wheel force" value that is effectively the highest force (torque) that iRacing will allow from your wheelbase. - This "Wheel force" is very different from the "Max force" that is the alternate display/units to the "Strength" display that is the default. - The "Auto" behind "Wheel force" is simply allowing iRacing to detect the max torque value that your wheelbase has as a hidden variable within itself. If you uncheck this "Auto", you can manually alter the "Wheel force", but it is not the same as the values discussed in the video. I recommend leaving "Auto" on here, unless you see a "Wheel force" value that is not correct for the peak of your wheelbase. I do NOT use this "Auto" because for some reason, iRacing sees my Simagic Alpha (15Nm) as an Alpha Mini (10Nm) so I have to manually set my 15Nm Wheel force. This is likely an exception and could even be remedied in the future. - This is all delightfully confusing since iRacing use "auto" in 2 different menus for different purposes, coupled with the very real difference between "Max force" & "Wheel force".
I just want awesome physics and graphics with ok performance along with an easy-to-use but moddable platform. The more real it feels the better. Haven't driven real race cars, believable is a word I like to use when describing realism.
A very interesting point
I certainly thought so, glad I was able to get it across at least a little
Great video, nice take on Sim racing
Glad you liked it, thanks for the comment. :)
There's no wonder I'm last on this one, I kept getting lost and going the wrong way, also with some penalties thrown in there too - wasn't good 😂 All good fun though. I might practice next time and try the cars out, as I just jump in and go normally. We'll see, if I have time etc. Need to get Rob in on this too. Take it easy bud, speak soon
Great fun as always Jim, look forward to next month already, one month, me and you will be able to have a clean bloody rally as we learn the ropes haha
Thanks for making this - great video mate. My opinion is exactly the same tbh, to make a good sim you must have experience from people that have driven the cars, but equally important variation of data to accompany it. This is why I have multiple sims installed and each have their own quirks, it's just slight variations on how the data and experience have been combined and used.
More data the better and make sure that information has a priority if the data can be flawed.
I remember in the past when people made mods and had professional drivers back up, these said professional drivers would take the car for a spin and immediately says "oh yeah! that's just like the real one!" when they're just talking about the acceleration, braking and basic cornering of said car... and when other people took the car for a spin, let's say passionate people, they saw that the lap times were completely wrong... thanks, but when I want a backup of a pro driver, I want to have what they actually experienced IN said car. not if the car approximately drives like the real one. the small details that actually matter in the behavior of said car. sadly, that's often forgotten. so yeah, can't even trust pro drivers most of the time
data data data
Knockhill is a great track for the slower cars. Plus, slower cars = better racing. It's a fact, don't @ me.
slower cars = fun for sure, if you have a combo for me to try let us know!
Blimey I forgot about this month's
Yes sorry I haven't advertised it much, ill get adding it to some TH-cam community posts, the discord has been pretty active as us back of the pack guys have been putting times in. I do my attempt here live on TH-cam on Friday. Oh and Swedish Andreas made this months, so you can blame him for what appears to be utter chaos over the 7 stages.
no
correct
Well done, first person that I have seen advertise this. Thanks
Glad you found it helpful, I was equally as surprised to have to find out about it from a friend.
Hello mate. May I request a throwback to the 90s mate. Your old local cadwell Park. Maybe a 90s touring car of some sort.
A 90's touring car around Cadwell, holy moly!?
😂 you did say you wanted a challenge. Skinny track wide car. Nothing better 😂
Great car and track if you ask me, think you're not worthy
The AI was throwing itself in the air :D
Graphics always amaze me in this. Great video!
Aye ACC is a bit of a banging looking sim isnt it. Though there is a hint of colour change on the edit.
When standing in the pit you can hear the cars going round the track and gues where they are Thats pretty cool
Agreed, very neat indeed.
So true. It’s even more amazong qith hometheatre and 2 sub 😁😉
Lucky! I am just a headphone guy in the rig.
Don't like the sounds of ACC. Prefer raceroom and LMU is also not bad.
Which part don't you like as the issue I have with the sims you mentioned is still that they are missing the full sound environment that ACC offers, outside the engine itself.
This is a very valid point actually. I've been worried because we have so many great mods in AC, but if they give us a slightly better physics engine, modern graphics and modding support (as you said) ultimately modders will jump ship as well. Well I hope AC2 will be a success, as AC1 has been one of my favorite free-time passer for the past couple of years. Great vid!
I honestly do wonder how important mod support will be if the nail physics and next gen eye candy, at least for the mainstream player base.
i am just hoping i can convert my AC1 mods to AC2 because if i can’t my 150 GB of mods will be exclusive to an outdated game
As a game dev myself, that would be super annoying to design too if wanting to make a next gen game. Not impossible but it would hold back the project a lot if its "easy" to convert shall we say. But who knows, maybe they have less generational change in the backend and more in the eye candy area. Looking forward to seeing though!
I want better tire models asseto corsa under steer is crazy and if you gas with a high up car you spin out
You are not alone in thinking this, its actually nice to hear someone else say it
ACC is still a simulation/game, not real. The sounds are there to represent what is happening to the car. You don't get G-forces in a simulator, so some things are exaggerated to an extent to fill in the missing parts of the feeling of driving a real race car. It's a design choice, and pretty good in my opinion. Some more detail could be added still like per car sounds of course, but in my view the sounds don't have to be 1:1 compared to reality, as long as they're meaningful to the gameplay and feeling.
Agreed, but the point I raised isn't about making it 1:1 (I design sims for a living there is active design in sim design that isnt real but makes it real) its more that ACC is still the only sim on the market that even makes an effort to model a whole host of sounds in the first place.
I play sims without sound it gains a lot of performance.
wow
Here's my ranking according to my ears. 🙂 1. Assetto Corsa Competizione 2. Le Mans Ultimate 3. iRacing 4. Raceroom 5. Automobilista 2 6. Assetto Corsa (RSR 2017)
That's probably mine too, AC goes up a notch when its modded to the hilt though, but its very very car mod dependant
Lemans ultimate and AC were both RSR's, the rest were the 992 GT3R In terms of the GT3R AMS2 has the most accurate engine and transmission sound (the sample was from a HQ audio from the NLS)
@@lewisbloomth-cam.com/video/gHAhKgcFaMQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=v5m44CTizp-6Ho-R this is very close to the AMS2 sound
I love ACC (and AC of course) but all the metallic, scraping etc sounds in ACC are a tad annoying in my opinion. I understand they add to the immersion, and yes ACC is one of the most intense racing games I have ever played. Still they make you feel like you're driving a tank. Next week we're getting the Nordschleife, I cannot even start to imagine the noises :D
I think thats a perception issue, as ultimately you kinda are driving a tank, a very very very thinly armoured tank with less suspension. If anything a race car is a lot louder bangs and travel wise than a tank, not including engine and assuming running on nice road gear haha.
Okay so here's a take people wont like, while ACC's ambient sounds like the scraping, floor hitting the ground, kerbs, pebbles etc are supreme, the engine and ESPECIALLY the transmission sounds are inaccurate to their real life counterparts, its absolutely shameless to see a 992 GT3 CUP reuse the sound from the 991.2 GT3R, the 992 GT3R is nowhere near close to the real life onboards (i have high quality audio recordings of the 992 GT3R), the transmission sounds in ACC are recycled between all cars and dont include the specifics of each car, ex - gear 3,4,6 of porsche, the distinct 4th lamborghini whine and the aston's gearbox sounds very very different, try following RSS's work and Corsamode (AC Sound modder), they genuinely reproduce sounds close to reality, I have a series on YT which compares ACC vs AC vs IRL although those videos are outdated since there are more accurate sounding AC engine sounds which I havent included.
Yup spot on the engine sounds are meh but the rest of the audio being there helps so much for ACC because its not a case of it beating the competition in this area, but rather the competition doesn't model it at all and is missing in action altogether.
@@lewisbloom Its genuinely impressive considering they made those ambient sounds back in 2018 and I still feel there are some really nice engine sounds like the merc, mclaren, aston v12, bmw m6 etc they are pretty good sounding cars from kunos
Dirt rally 2 does a decent job at this if i remember correctly
There is a far chunk of bangs and stuff but no where near the ACC level when clean running.
Le mans ultimate is new audio king.
I have to disagree, and I think you may have missed the point of the video. Take away engine sound and LMU is still pretty barren. The audio environment is still missing in action outside the engine. LMU does have stunning Hyper Car noises, under braking is amazing but the overall sound stage still not modelled let alone modelled well.
@@lewisbloom I expected you to disagree. I have seen your counter arguments with your own viewers. Cool man you made a valid video but it doesn't mean every one will agree 100 percent. Go have a biscuit and tea.
Debate is almost dead, a cuppa and a chat is always worth it.
But I still want to ask what makes you say you think LMU is the audio king if its still factually behind ACC in sound design?
@@lewisbloom one is early access one is complete. LMU has a small pallet of sounds I suppose compared to ACC but the sounds it has to me personally are so well done it makes a stronger impact. Acc has great exterior sounds for sure in comparison to Lmu.
I literally started to play this game because the audio was eargasmic.
I stopped playing because ultimately its a bit too limited and the offline got zero love but I do wish the audio on other sims matched ACC and hope AC2 will have a brilliant sound environment inside the car too.
Thankfully this is a sound only comparison, the driving is a right turn off 😉
Ava yer cheeky sausage, only last night I got 2nd in the Clio race with you in iRacing,... on pace alone.... lol
@@lewisbloom we'll ignore the four in class lmao
There is one absolutely extremely rare instance where this occurs in Assetto Corsa and that's the Citroen C15 mod. The guy actually went absolutely insane on the sound design of it and you can hear _everything_ in that car. The suspension squeaking, the movement of the vehicle, little stones, it's almost as good as ACC and it's a free car mod for AC. It's _wild_ what he did with the game.
Damn that sounds great, can it be found on the website formally known as Race Department or a different site?
@@lewisbloom It's the one on Race Department, yeah. I hosted it for my community a few times, absolute blast. Goofy old Citroens and their mushy suspension are always hilarious to race.
ACC by far, AC with some mods can come close, but it is when the modder try to replicate ACC level of quality. Runner up for me is LMU, which is getting there, might have to see what full release sounds like.
The brake noises for hyper cars in LMU is pure bliss for sure!
I remember Morad in one of his streams saying ACC's sounds is too exaggerated as compared to real life (I guess because of the helmet). But I find what Kunos did with the sound design as one of the best examples of balancing simulation and video gamey-ness. And that makes for a better immersive experience in my opinion.
Yes ive heard similar, At the end of the day an exaggeration over the sound missing altogether will always be preferred. And this is the situation as it is in sim racing at the time of writing this post. Which is a shame.
I really appreciate when I hear other things, like track debris, clunks, bumps and rattles. Agree there should be a better effort to record the concert happening inside the car. Thanks Lewis ‘Maestro’ Bloom.😊
Hopefully AC2 keeps the concert going and sims like LMU can add to it too as its really missing.
imo, I know it sounds weird coming from me, but you should have done that with the Ferrari 488. the GTE and GT3 are essentially the same car(they can convert the GT3 to GTE and vice versa) while the Porsches are different models between GTE and GT3. and even in RaceRoom, they still use the classic 2017-2019 911 RSR. the 488 GT3 and GTE would have been better for a more fair comparison
This video tbh is more a generalisation rather than a solely engine sound test. Its more overall sound, to accompany the Audio Stuff video I released today.
@@lewisbloom I didn't mean it in an engine sound only way ;) just so the idea stays even and to be able to notice more about the way each sim handles the sounds
Well said Lewis, sound (as we know on TH-cam) is often far more important than a whole list of other things. LMU (although very good car and brake sounds) & Rennsport have a distinct lack of control over individual volume/sound channels in game - begs the question why? ACC as you rightly point out has aguably one of the best all round sound stages, RF2 has those lovely chasis creaks and rattles and everything else is in the middle. Keep up the great work buddy 👍😉
I whacked a big ole pot hole in the car only today and it makes such a bang in even a road car, ACC the only one that has the bangs :(
