I have a Craftsman corded small chainsaw. It's about 7 years old. I have never had to do anything but put oil in it and thats it! It has amazing power to cut thru just about anything and never runs low on its constant power as needed and it was super duper cheap. Since 90% of the time when cutting Im within 100 ft of a power source...it's been one of my favorite 'best buys' !
I have the Skil 40V chainsaw. I own a couple other tools on their 40V platform including the lawnmower...I've noticed if you want to give that Skil even more power (felt like a 50% increase in power!) just use the 5Amp hour battery that came with mower on it. Ego and Skil are both made by the same company, Chervon. Ego is one of their high end brands while Skil is more of their "bang for the buck" value brand but they both have 5 year warranty so they do stand by their cheaper brand as well. The trick that these tools use to cut so efficiently through wood is that they use a thinner chain, 0.043 gauge instead of the more typical 0.050. Skinnier chains are easier to pull through wood (and create fewer wood chips) for the same depth of cut. I used the Skil to cut down and cut up 2 giant goat willow trees on my yard. The larger tree was 6 trunks ranging from 10" to 16" thick all coming out of one giant base...The Skil handled these trunks quite well (but went through it's 2.5Amp hour batter pretty fast) so I was thankful to have 2 other batteries on hand. The tool wasn't designed to take on the 4ft wide portion at the base of the tree (neighbors large gas powered saw did the trick there) but I'd say at $199 for the saw, battery and charger its a good value...I'd invest in another battery OR poach from another Skil 40V tool if you have big job to do though.
Got a free skil 40v mower from the marketplace and it just needed a battery so I was going to wait and find one on sale but locally I found someone selling this chainsaw with its 2.5 battery grab that for 60 bucks now I have a battery for my mower and I have a chainsaw in my garage finally. Great deals you asked me
I have the greenworks 80v 18'' bar and it is great. The 2.0 battery lasts 15 minutes if your lucky, it takes 30 minutes to charge so it helps if you have a couple more.
For price and cutting ability along with a respected name, I would go with the SKIL chainsaw. i don't trust Harborless Freight with the 90 day warranty, and I don't have any EGO tools.
I would argue that Harbor Freight's warranty is better than everyone else's. Walk in with a broken tool, walk out with a new one. They just make you pay for it separately which people have a psychological problem with for some reason.
It really comes down to how many GOOD PRODUCTS does ONE company make that allows minimum number of batteries for most amount of products. For outdoor like mowers, chainsaws, snow blowers, pressure washers the best are Ego, Ryobi and Milwaukee. Bow many different types of batteries do you want to charge. I went with Ego for all outside products and Dewalt for inside/wood tools.
to me the biggest factor on moving to electric saws is the bar mounting method- durability, and trigger response time. i hate the half second delay on some tools, also some have too slow of a "soft start" spool up. The atlas really stands out to me with how it sounds spooling up at a consistent quick rate , as well has traditional double nut bar clamp
Interesting. As far as the comparison to a gas saw, you picked a tiny one. I have a 50 year old Homelite what will outperform those electric saws, but it is bigger than 30cc.
i have the Atlas 40v and i have to say i'm constantly impressed with it everytime i use it. takes out big eucalyptus trees with no problems. i wonder if the design of the chain is the issue with the 120v saw? it seems to have decent rpm but the blades seem to bite too much
It might also be the weaker electric motor. You may have 120V from the battery, but that doesn’t mean the motor puts out more power. The atlas probably has the most powerful motor of the bunch.
Where in the heck did you find that old Redback? I have one new in the box along with their string trimmer and blower. If I could get a fair price for them I would sell them because I'm heavily invested in Ryobi.
Thanks for doing this. For me it's not gas vs electric. It's, "what's the right tool for the job"? I've had a heavy duty gas saw for 15 years. Absolute monster. If I'm going to be going for several hours, or thick stuff I'll be using my gas w 20" bar. But most of the time I'm just making a few cuts. For me a solid electric is a better tool for many situations. In between that atlas, or the ego. I have other ego stuff, but it's a bit pricier than the atlas.
I have never even seen or heard of a 120 V chain saw yet but I can't believe how slow that 1 was compared to the other ones when it has a lot more volts but you should have tested a Bauer 20 V chainsaw also because I have one of them and it's actually surprisingly decent honestly and I think the Bauer 20 V would even beat that 120 V POTENTIALLY which is insane because that just doesn't make any sense but thanks for the video anyways!
I expected the Ego to be excellent, but the Skil surprised me, and Harbor Freight has really stepped it up with Atlas!

Atlas is definitely my favorite!!

I have an EGO 56v weed eater.. it’s 3 yrs old .. best damn weed eater I’ve ever owned
I inherited an ego 56v weedeater at my new house. It’s a beast. Blows my 40v Ryobi away

Don’t think I will switch but man them battery power saws are powerful

Need to get some of the Big 3 up in there - DeWalt, Milwaukee, Makita.
I wonder how the Milwaukee FUEL M18 16” would do against those numbers!?! Great comparison, Marius! Thanks!

Me too! Love it other than the bar oil leaks for some time after running the saw
@@bradfordbowman8203 you may be over filling it, i've heard someone else have theirs leak and that was why

That skil is a sleeper

❤ your video. Would like to see part 2 . Maybe other 80v chainsaws or bigger vs Atlas
Skil impressive

That’s not normal you should’ve took it back and had the store get you another one they actually run pretty well.
What the…. 😮 how does that not go faster
thank you
120v .. now thats a saw you definitely don't want to use in the rain 😁😅
Win for Harbor Freight
Atlas is best by far I see
Great reveiw
Hebat 👍👍 bagus
Half a million
I have the Atlas 40v it kicks A$$
The Atlas seems to be better
The ATLAS is quite powerful.
Shocking
If your not first your last
Second place is the first loser.
170 dollar sthil ms170 is the baseline not a professional top handle arborist climbing saw. It a reason it cost 350 dollar. Ms 170 is 30cc and 199.99
It looks to me that redback doesn't have enough balls Way To Slow it looks like I'm going to get the skil
I would’ve picked the atlas if my name ever got called out
I think you would of picked up the Toro 60v for less than $200 while supplies last.
@@PFab Well they still have the Toro chainsaws in my area in Clarence for 139 still not cheap enough for me to want to buy
@@danieldepot4090 I wish there were more around me. People selling just the batteries for that price.
That's the oldest weakest model that have. I have the 18 inch and it's great.
That’s the older weaker model Ego
Why did you use a small 30cc gas chainsaw 😆 🤣
