Debra Soiseth They invented heavy metal ‼️I don’t want to hear anything that says they didn’t!!!!!!!!!!! I know all the bands!!! Sabbath stole a bit!!!!!! Getting pissed that I have to justify!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@mitchnelsen it is always debateable. I respect Blue Cheer for what they did. No matter what anyone says, they were awesome! Never got enough respect for what they did
@@Planktontwo Yup. That's Paul on drums. Duck MacDonald on guitar. This was one of the late tours. They look exactly like when I saw them twice in 2008 in Washington State.
68. Years old I have owned their first album. On vinyl for decades. Vincebus eruptum this was considered ahead of its time nobody was doing this first copy I owned was on 8 track
This still sounds great. Vocals are still killer and the instrumentals are pretty solid. With that said, I still prefer their studio version on Vincebus Eruptum. What made that version great was how it flew off the handle. The instrumentals here don't capture that same chaos. It is much more bluesy and uniform than psychedelic.
It is a fucking shame there is no live concert footage of Blue Cheer when they were playing back in the 60s with the original lineup and playing the songs from Vincebus Eruptum
I am in my 50’s and like Blue Cheer. A work colleague in his early 20’s was laughing at me because he said the music is great. But they are so old. He likes the new rock bands. I said, if the bands you like stand the test of time, you will be in the same boat asme in the future.
Never heard this jam, it's all good 😊. Funny how we are taught to be ourselves and even when the tide is on our side, we still don't want anything to do with it 😎
Blue Cheer always kicked ass, 1984's 'The Beast is Back' was awesome with Tony Rainier on guitar... Original Godfathers of Metal? IDK, close call with Black Sabbath first release, but Sabbath was just better. Let's just say the Original "American" Godfathers!
Black Sabbath were only British progenitors of Metal by then. Also, don’t agree that they were “just better”, since this is largely informed by their ability to remaster albums. Fans of British music always seem to be insecure about its debt to American music.
So glad to see such great comments appreciating Blue Cheer beyond Summertime Blues!! They had some great stuff!!
THE true pioneers of heavy rock/metal.

Cream and Hendrix was Proto Metal. Blue Cheer was HEAVY METAL. Black Sabbath was metal too, but 2 years LATER.

Eight on
@@mitchnelsen they didnt "invent" it. while i do think they're heavy metal, youre acting like it hasnt evolved over time and just came out of nowhere
Man this is great!
RIP Paul Whaley. Played great into his later years.
I had the privilege of shaking his hand, leaving the stage
The drummer is video is Paul Whaley? Cool if it is. More so if the guitarist is Leigh Stephens

As of 2008, dEFINITELY still kicking ass.
Know of another group that jams hard, like Blue Cheer?

Its not a Jam
PLEASE , listen to John Mayall play this from : “ The Blues Alone” album.
Proto Metal
Got this cd/dvd
Seen them blow Hendrix off stage in LA 1970
Cactus blows the doors off these guys doing this song. N probably any other
..a little slower, but STILL as potent as the original studio recording..(en memoriam Dickie)
Did the expression whaling on his drums, come from watching Paul Whaley?? These three together were exceptional.
3 dislikes? Obviously 3 people with no taste in music.

Vincebus Eruptum, the album this is from, is considered to be the first true metal album. 1968.
Get it right they were the first Heavy Metal Band‼️‼️ please don’t make excuses👌

“Close call with Black Sabbath release” - that’s was 3 years after Blue Cheer came on the scene
Before Pentagram...
Bobby Liebling was friends with Dicky Peterson back in the 80s
Pentagram literally credit Blue Cheer on every studio album.
@@TealScarab I love both bands.

Not "Parchment Farm" but "Parchman Farm", song is about doing time at the notorious Mississippi prison, Parchman .
But, the song is titled "Parchment Farm". Looks Dick Peterson might done a bid at Parchman Farm.
