  • What was initially more of a straightforward installation found a few weird, & uncommon problems. Our client had an existing ELAN whole home audio system in their house. Water was accidentally sprayed on the whole home amplifier system. That fried it. It would need to be replaced.
The best course of action was to replace the system including the amplifier and volume controls in each room. Zone three on our NEW amplifier was defective out of the box. We were able to wire the defective amp so that two rooms would operate on one zone of the amplifier, however that is not how you should leave a NEW amplifier. Nobody should get a new amp that is defective. Not good customer service.
We were happy to replace this NEW amplifier and get our client operating they way it should be.

Thanks, and that wasn't a 5 or 10 minute solder job either. HA

It looks like that style amplifiers very easy to fix amplifiers very easy to fix remember you have to have the right soldering iron for the right amount of heat circuits little iron, big wires big soldering iron.

Yeah you may think so but no sir, the system was made by elan, model bs2000 with application center ac2000. After contacting elan, they stated no support for a model that old. They simply gave me replacement options. Also when unit was sprayed with water hvac company stated it smoked.
The hvac company (which watered the unit) and us searched through eBay with no luck on that complete unit. We certainly are not going to attempt to replace parts on that unit...after any work we are now responsible.
As far as soldering the right tip and temperature was used. That was our Weller from our shop.
