Good Video! I think you should do a video showing your technique on how you ran your wires, as that is something that i'd (plus many others) be interested in watching/learning, as that has so many different applications that just audio. Subscribed!
Looks and sounds good. Future inspiration for my home. Only thing I would have done differently is not done the extension cord through the cabinets but installed another outlet inside of the cabinet. Other than that GREAT JOB!
Thanks for the video -- this may be the answer to replacing my 12 year old whole home 12 zone Elan System. One thought. I use the long range Audio Engine B1 bluetooth receiver vs the chromecast audio receiver you show. I like to have my music voice controlled via alexa (amazon music, pandora, iphone music in itunes library, etc.) and I can play all this by telling Alexa to connect to bluetooth (then alexa connects to audio engine B1), then I can request specific song by name, or artist or station type (from either Amazon or Pandora). I can thumbs up or down songs, skip songs, raise or lower volume, switch stations, etc. all by voice. You can also use NAS drives and Plex and have Alexa control your hard drive music this way as well.
This just popped into my feed again. I'm so psyched that I found your channel and installed my Soundavo WS66i while I was buildingmy house! I love that system!
I would think this would be doable. Just hook 2 inputs to one speaker, assuming they are both analog connections with the red and black wires. Then do the same for the other speakers within the 5.1 setup.
I did a very similar install except the placement of my unit. I used OSD MAX12 for mine and I have 22 speakers. 4-5 speakers per zone for 5 Zones then outside zone is 2 6" rock speakers. I used Dayton audio in-wall speaker expanders so i could power more speakers per zone. I control the unit with both wall keypads and Android app.
I have always wanted to do this kind of system in my house, very helpful video sir..is possible to give me a list of everything you used in this set up please , ,keep it up
3:01 the best DAC for your buck Edit: have you tried the optical input? You can get an optical mini cable to hook up to the Chromecast Audio and even stream at 98k pcm...if the app you're using allows for it
The quality will be 120% better if he change the cable. Let me explain - On amps, RCA inputs not digital. Those are analog inputs which means the signal is pre processed which means the chromecast converted digital signal to analog. Over optical there's no dac used. What comes in, that's go out without any conversion. If your amp or avr is equipped with spdif, use optical connection in between. Your amp or avr has a better dac built in :)
Can you please explain how the coaxial cables terminate at the source end? How do you go from coaxial to the red and white RCA input. I’ve been much research but can’t find out what you did here. Thanks
Maannnn you really like your music ... thats a nice system., also ., nice house man ., and that tune is cool too ., i Shazam it .. for those who wants to know is warm blood by flor .
Good video about the Monoprice system, I want to know how to connect the PA input on the Amp so I can use it to make an announcement like dinner is ready over the system
Thanks! I’m working on updating an existing system that is using 3 Kenwood stereo receivers. They are old and 2 of them are failing so it’s time to modernize.
you just earn a new subscriber, great info in this video, well explained, just what I was looking for :). Question 1.- can you provide or add in the description the rca wall plate you used for the audio sources? Question 2.- Can you provide or add in the description the RCA cables you used for this install? Question 3.-Which speaker cable would you suggest to buy that is code for new construction? Question 4.- did you use cat 5, cat 6 or cat7 Ethernet cable? I'm looking forward to see which plans you have for your smart home.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! 1) I used keystone wall plates from Monoprice, and bought all of the keystone jacks from monoprice (i've added links to the description) 2) An RCA cable is a really simple cable. To make your own RCA cable you would use RG6 cable. RG6 cable is the same type of cable you would use to run cable tv in your house, except with a different end on it. (i've added a link to the RG6 cable that i use) 3) If you are doing construction in a residential building and not commercial, i believe it just needs to be CL2 rated. Most speaker cable you would buy is already ok to run in houses. I would suggest you use 14 guage speaker wire, i used 12 guage and it was a little over kill since i wasnt doing that long of runs. If you are doing very long runs, then i would say use 12 guage. (i've added a link to the speaker wire i used) 4) I used cat 5e cable for my install because i ran out of cat 6. I wired my parents entire house with cat 6 though, so you can use either. I like cat 6, because it has the extra plastic insert in the cable, which keeps it stiffer when running, which is helpful. (link to that cable is also in the description now!)
Prepping to do this in my house and this is the best demo I've seen. A few questions if I may: 1. Each speaker runs back to your amp? 2. What was the rg6 wire for? 3. Does the cat 6 go from the room switch to the amp? 4. Are those 6" speakers? Would you recommend 6" or 8"?
Can you check out my video series I created called "whole home audio from start to finish" it's a video series I did and it's literally from start to finish!
Why are so many men handymen so boring and never show any emotion when they have just installed something so big and all the lady’s standing there are screaming and are so happy
1. Those green connectors on the back of the amp. You refer to those as keystones jacks. Those are actually called Euroblocks. 2. The speaker in the bathroom above the shower. You might have a problem with that later with steam and condensation. They make speakers with IP ratings specifically for bathrooms and showers. 3. The amp needs ventilation. Put some grills/louvers on the front of the doors. Possibly even a 12VDC fan to circulate the air.
Did you look up these speakers? They are rated for moisture so they will not have a problem. Also, this amp does not have any internal fans, it stays cool, I know typically you shouldn't put it enclosed but this was the only place I could put it. My raspberry pi is hotter than this
@@TheKMZ1 Even with the amplifier being passively cooled, it still generates heat. Especially with it being located above a refrigerator that creates heat. Probably not a good idea having it plugged into an extension cord as well. I'm sure it states that in your owners manual.
Awesome video! Do you need to use the wall plates to control the audio or can it all be done over chromecast audio source? edit: You already answered my question on one of your other videos! th-cam.com/video/hH6FbcZpnsA/w-d-xo.html
Qosmo Dirst What was the video he explained this? I almost watched all of his videos but haven’t found it yet. Was he able to play to each zone or only all zones with the chromecast audio without using the keypads?
I am doing new construction so wiring will be much easier for me. I like the monoprice amplifier. Video was 2 years ago. Any need for me to research newer products or not any major improvements in last 2 years?
I am planning to setup a 12-zone for my new build. I am a rookie in this with some basic knowledge. Few questions. 1) How did you terminate the CAT wiring behind the faceplate on the cabinet? 2) How did those 6 zone CAT wires get plugged to the receiver? 3) I need help setting up the speaker CAT6 (?) or CAT 5E connections with DIP switch 4) Did you hook up any AV receivers as an input source or use only chrome cast? 5) I may need help setting up a TV connection in the game room for playing tv sound on the speakers while watching TV, is RCA the only option? Any other option? I did request for your parent's 12 zone setup. Please send me the link. Thanks
6 Month Update: I have been installed now for 6 months. I didn't use the wall controls because your app is AMAZING. I have 2 Google Audios for input sources and a TV source. If anyone is interested in a GREAT sounding speaker. I would recommend the Theatre Solutions. I have 6 of them in 3 zones. A Polka in the master bath and 2 outside zones with Bose and Polk. Had I done the Polk first I would have only Polk outside. But I love my current setup. Thanks for the inspiration and direction @TheKMZ1
Very informative video. I am looking to do this to my house. So how are the wall controllers wired to the amplifier/receiver? I got the Ethernet cable but confused how that all connects to the amplifier.
There is a keypad hub that has 6 inputs on the back for all your keypads, and it has 1 output on the front and 1 Ethernet cable connects from the hub to the amp. Check out my channel for lots of other good home audio videos!
Yes speaker wire goes from the speakers directly to the amp, also same with the keypads. So everything "home runs" back to the amplifier. And the amplifier has the circuitry necessary to know what zones it needs to control based on the keypads being clicked.
Just to make sure I’m understanding correctly for how your TV is hooked up can you confirm this setup for how I want to install mine. Coax from wall to cable box. HDMI from cable box to tv. Optical cable from tv to my sound bar. RCA from cable box to Monoprice receiver. Monoprice receiver to ceiling speakers via speaker wire. This setup should give me sound from my TV (from HDMI connection), from my soundbar (from the optical connection), or from the ceiling speakers (from the rca connection to Monoprice), correct? Obviously I’m not going to have all 3 going at once as there might be some delay between the 3. I just don’t want to have the ceiling speakers be my only form of TV audio out. I like my sound bar and would use that most of the time and the Monoprice would only be used for broadcasting the sound outside from the tv when needed for entertaining and sports. I look forward to your reply and hopefully I got this setup correct.
Yes that should all work as long as your cable box has the audio out like you described. In my video my cable box did have the audio out, so that's how i was able to do it. Also, i would highly doubt there would be any lag even if running all 3 at once. Also, a lot of TV's have audio out as well, so sometimes you could piggy back off of that if needed! Either way i believe you've got the hang of it
Thank you for the quick response! That was the only part I was unsure of. If my cable box doesn’t have the audio out, I will do as you suggested and piggy back it from my TV audio out to the Monoprice to get the ceiling speakers connected. I know sometimes when I have my TV volume on and my sound bar going the sound is distorted a little. Either from the two different sound qualities or just the slightest echo from a lag or something like that. That’s the only reason I said I wouldn’t have all 3 going at once. Thank you for the great video! You literally covered everything for someone to be able to do this job themselves! I’ll definitely be subscribing and following your channel for future reference.
Have you used the RCA outputs before? Does that eliminate the speaker outputs on same zone? I guess i should say I plan on 6 zones but also have 2 other rooms with ceiling speakers and amps already wired.... was hoping there was a way to incorporate them also(love the fact of having 6 sources for each of the old school receivers). Thanks!!
Hi, I'm in the process of installing this system thanks to you and your videos. The question I have is what what was the length of the RCA cables you used for the Tv's and where did you get them from? I have to run multiple RCA cables each being 100 ft long. I am trying to figure out if I am able to run the multiple 100 ft speaker wires for Tv audio output and attach RCA plugs to the ends to make my own RCA cables. Looking forward to your response.
I love all your videos! great job. I am looking to implement the same system but I want to integrate a couple things, wondering if you have done them or looking to do them too. 1. Use Synology NAS music server as a source 2. Use Apple Airplay 3. Control TV volume/channels from IR blaster in wall plate (looking to centralize cable box in network closet)
I think it is bad to keep the amplifier in a closed area like that cabinet or cupboard which will make the amplifier to heat up easily in a long run... If necessary, add up a fan or let the amplifier to breathe (ventilation system is important). Only if that amplifier is smart enough or have any protection or perhaps can prevent heating, it depends on you. Just a suggestion 😊
I know, other people have commented that as well. These units are fanless, so they don't generate a lot of heat, and they don't generate a lot of dust. I have monitored it before and it doesn't get hot enough to where i am concerned with it. I think my raspberry pi generates more heat than this thing
Hi Friend, thanks for this wonderful video. I want to find out how you were able to connect the RCA modular jack to the Wall plate. What is your connection mode with the RG6 cable running from the amp? Was the cable soldered directly to the modular jack or terminated into another connector that connected to the Jack,? Kindly share with me how you were successful with that connection and how you did it. I have a similar project but it is presently stalled by that the connections to the Monoprice RCA wall jack. Thanks a lot.
Awesome install my friend. Where did you purchase the wall keypads that control volume, source and audio controls? I'm renovating my dads first home that he ever purchased. I have zero drywall in the house right now. Your videos help immensely when deciding what to do before closing the walls and ceilings back up.
Joseph Duarte The link in my description links to this amplifier, it's actually a kit, so the keypads come with it, they are specific to this amp. So if you buy this same system, all you need to add is speakers, speaker cable, and ethernet cable.
I think that just sealed the deal. I was wondering how you kept the cost so low with all those controllers that you installed. I know you said that you can stack those systems, but are you aware of a 12 channel system that rivals this one (cost equivalency per channel)?
Joseph Duarte if you wanted 12 channels I would still recommend buying 2 of these because it would still be your best bang for your buck while still delivering high quality experience. When you have more than 1, the kit has a special ribbon cable that connects the amps together and one amp is the master, the other set as a slave. That makes the slave amplifier share the master 6 sources so that the system now becomes 12 zones and 6 audio sources. I plan on doing a video highlighting my other install where I have 2 chained together like this.
I'll start by saying thank you for the videos! They are a huge help as I'm planning my whole home audio set up. How would I add a powered/active subwoofer to a standard 2 speaker zone? I thought it was the pre-amp outs, but after watching your video it looks like I have to use either the speaker outputs or the pre-amp out independently, they cannot be used in conjunction with each other. Am I understanding that correctly?
Hey - great video! You inspired me to do this exact set up in a new construction build. However - I’m having problems connecting my TV optical output to the RCA jacks I installed. I just bought an optical to RCA converter on amazon but I’m still just getting static in my speakers. It’s not my RCA jack either because when I plug my Bluetooth adaptor into the jack it works fine. I’ve also adjusted my TVs sound output settings... just curious if you’ve had any luck or advice with a problem like this? Thanks!
Awesome set up. I just started wiring my new house to run this exact system. Did you use RCA cables from the kitchen and TV’s for those inputs? Or did you run coax and then convert from coax to RCA at the amp and the wall outlets? Also - can I bridge two outputs together to yield higher watts to my outdoor spreaders, if I’m only using 5 outputs for 5 rooms? I can’t wait to get this system up and running!
RCA cables and coax are the same thing, it's just that the home grade cables are much, much thinner wires. But at it's core they are built the same way. But to answer your question i used coax cable to make the RCA cables, because i needed custom lengths, but most importantly, you need the thicker cable so you dont have audio loss in your cable when going long distances. with cheap thin off the shelf cables, if you tried to get one that long, the audio would not travel very far due to the wire being so thin. You can't bridge them together that i know of, but you can chain 2 or even up to 3 of these amps together to make an 18 zone 6 source system. But even at the current output levels, they are loud, i have outdoor speakers, and they can push a great deal of sound.
TheKMZ1 thank you so much for your response! is that one coax cable per audio source, or two? I’m going to look further into bridging two audio zones together for more juice to my outdoor speakers. Or possibly a single-source amp to chain with this 6 zone system to give me more power for the patio speakers.
Hi, Couple of questions please: 1- Are the Daytona Audio ceiling speakers need a housing to hold them up in ceiling or they can be fixed to the ceiling sheetrack? 2- Do I need to use the Cat5e Raiser or Plantun wire? 3- What cable I should use the TV HDMI cable? can the RG6 Coaxial cable be used as HDMI? Thanks a lot for your effort and sharing AJ
The speakers do not need an additional housing, they have a screw type clamp that fixes right on the sheetrock. It depends on where you live and your regulations, but in the USA for residential housing you do not need plenum. standard riser cable works but you need to check your own regulations. RG6 cannot be used as HDMI, you will need RCA cable for audio.
Thanks for your quick kind reply, what I need to use the HDMI cable for is to connect my IPTV box (Internet Streaming TV Service) which will be kept in my networking closet with my TV, so is the RCA cable can do the job?
I dont know what connections your IPTV box has, but it probably has an audio out jack. Maybe it is RCA cables, maybe it is something else. But you will ultimately need to get it into an RCA cable.
Look up the definition of a plenum, if you have a whole attic return system it is against US federal code to use riser cable in your attic, because plenum cable has a more fire retardant sheath. Some cities and states have code that requires all plenum cable no matter the location or use of the cable (though sometimes this is only for commercial). I've heard stories of inspectors just requiring plenum cable without the code requiring it and that's a shame really. 3 easy answers: 1) just use plenum cable 2) go ask your local electrical inspector 3) don't care and do what you want.
I am planning to have Soundavo but not able to understand how to use RG6 coaxial cable to convert to RCA and put into RCA jack in your kitchen as a input
Hi, Nice install!! how did you run the wires? Was your amp installed on the main floor? Do you have a second floor and did you install any speakers/controls there?
Our home is prewired for 5 zones, one of which is our TV room that has 3 speakers behind the TV and 2 speakers on the opposite wall across. Not sure if this is surround or not. We have all the wiring in the basement so I’m guessing we have to install our hub there. There is only one control keypad though (in the basement). Would it be difficult to instal a keypad at each zone? Where do we start? We are not versed in this type of thing and don’t want to spend huge amounts of money.
If adding a subwoofer to one of the zones, and the sub only has a single line in, would you use a Y adapter to go from the two stereo pre-amp outs on the receiver to the sub? If so, should the switch for that zone be turned to stereo or bridge?
I like your video very informative. Like the step-by-step. Those outlets in the wall what are they called and where did you get them? I’m trying to do the same thing now but I’m having a hard time finding those things.
If you wanted to have an outdoor tv and all the internal tvs connected, can you just run hdmi for better sound quality? My house is 1 story and can pretty easily connect all of them to a receiver if i was to put them in my closer where the router is.
How to I hook up tv to receiver? RCA cables with a adapter? And Ethernet cord you need a splitter? Can you send me some links? Thanks great video I'm getting mine this week
Love the video! Super helpful and detailed. Why did you choose to run RG6 for your inputs? Could you use speaker wire and attach banana plugs on both ends to achieve the same thing?
yes you can technically do that, but at long distances it's not advised to. You dont get shielding using speaker wire. RG6 has shielding in the cable so you can make a long distance RCA cable with extremely little loss. I would not recommend using speaker wire for it
I have a 4 zone in my home love it any idea what to go with for a detached garage? Separate system just need a single zone for a surround from a projector
I think I already know the answer but going to ask any way. I currently have an 8 zone Control 4 amp in my house. It is no longer working and now seems to be a good time to make a break from this system since its $100 + an hour to have a "certified" installer come out and get it working again. With that being said, I have volume sliders in each of the 8 rooms and coming off of the back of each one, I have a group of connections on each side. Both groups of connections have white and green labeled L+ and L- and a black and red labeled R+ and R-. One side is labeled "speakers" so I went into the attic and can see that these wires connect directly to the right and left speaker of the zone. The other group of connections is labeled the same (L/R +/-) but has a white, black, green and red cables coming out with a white shielding around them. This group of connections is labeled "Amplifier" and sure enough it coincides with what is connected to the back of the amp. My question is this. Is this group of white, black, green and red also speaker wire? If so, it looks like I'll have to run all new speaker wire from the speakers back to the amp and all new cat 5e or 6 from the wallplates to the amp as well. Thanks in advance!
Greg White Yes you are exactly correct, it's just standard speaker wire to your rotary knob/slider. You have a traditional sound system, and the reason your amplifier goes to the dial on the wall, is because the dial is essentially a giant variable resistor that makes the volume to the speaker get louder or softer. The only way you MIGHT be able to not wire as much for a new system like this would be to take the speaker wire going to the back to the amp and splice that into the speaker wire going from the knob to the speaker. Then that gives you 2 speakers which now run back to the amp and all you need to do is run ethernet. Hope this helps, let me know if you have questions. This will only work if you do in fact have 2 pairs going back to the amp. (4 total separate wires b/c you need pos and neg for the left and right speakers)
I didn't think about what you suggested but I believe it will work. I checked the back of the amp again and those 4 wires go the back and are labeled + and - for an A and B side on each zone. I was also able to get enough slack in the wire to see that it says 16 AWG so wish I had seen that before posting. As far as the Chromecast Audio, are you only able to stream to it from one device at a time? In other words, if multiple users wanted to stream something different in different zones simultaneously, would you need multiple Chromecast Audios for that?
Greg White Yeah only one user can stream to it at a time, and it only gets plugged into one source on the amp. One source can only play one thing, so if a second user wanted to wirelessly cast something different and listen to it in another zone, then you would need to add another chromecast audio.
Thanks for the info...much appreciated! And great video! Very informative. I was on the fence about this but after seeing this video I'm going to give it a shot and see how it turns out.
The dayton audio CS620C speakers are moisture resistant. We also have 10 ft ceilings in our house, so most of the steam dissipates and does not reach the ceilings anyway. I highly recommend these speakers, great quality, and no they are not marine speakers, just built with quality :)
Thanks for the detailed video! Could you please advise different devices that can be added to wirelessly (bluetooth/airplay) play music and also is there a way to add USB as a source. I have Dax66. Thank you!
Absolutely great video! The keypad looks so clean, and the blue light gives it a well modern look. You mentioned another system that you recently installed; after having this in for a few months now, do you prefer this system of the other install? Thanks for posting, I'm hyped to get my system installed!
DJ Robbie Raaz If you haven't watched my other home audio videos they are worth watching! This system and the other I installed are almost literally identical in terms of hardware. So both are great and one is not better. Thanks!!
TheKMZ1 i recently did an installation using this product but i didn't use coaxial wire for my source, and i have a buzzing sound, so i would like to know 1) u ran the RG6 cable from the back of the amp all the way to the wall thingy?yes? 2) Did you terminate the ends of the RG6 cables usign RCA plugs? thanks superb video
Great system setup & very helpful video. Will be getting same system. Did you connected 2 speakers in each zone? So basically run 14/2 speaker wire to each speaker from central system where monoprice amp will be sitting and also run cat5e to each zone for for keypad. Also run dual coaxial cable to each source location for RCA transition. Thanks TheKMz1
Great video so thank you. I currently have a Channel Plus 8 zone system that I have had for 16 years. Almost identical to this install. I am planning to replace what I have with this system. I do have one question. How do you turn off the entire system OFF via the wall panels. My current system, I am able to hold the MUTE button for 3 seconds and the entire amp turns off. How do you do this with this system?
Excellent video. Can you please do a video comparing the different type of dayton audio speakers on the market that would work with this system. Also, it is possible to wire more than 2 speakers per zone, ie via parallel/serial wiring to maintain 8 ohms total per zone? Thanks.
Thanks for the video idea, and yes as long as you can achieve 4 or 8 ohms at the amp, you can technically have more than 2 speakers in a zone. I tell people to try and stick to 2 if possible because a majority of the people are not technical enough to do that!
Great video. Thanks. Question. Have large kitchen with cathedral ceiling that is pre wired ., would like to use 4 speakers, but the wiring is daisy chained thus only two speaker wires to access. Possible to bridge 4 channels to drive two channels with 2 4ohm speakers per channel and sound great?
Which RG6 to RCA compression fittings and tool did you use for your RCA wall input? Also, was there concern about the bend radius in the wall at the wall plate? I have 4 RG6 inputs, which is 8 cables, terminating into 2 wall plates at the amp side but I am worried about trying to bend the cable to fit into the keystone wall jack. Thoughts?
I am in the middle of building at the moment. Just wired all my low voltage Ethernet system and home audio, I can’t wait to use it all. Are those the on q speakers? Also I love the cool living room ceiling. Edit: I see your description now
What are your other input sources? We are looking to wire for whole home audio but I would like each bedroom to be able to connect to their own speakers via Bluetooth or something like that so they can listen to their own music in their room or connect their AppleTV to the speakers in their own room, etc. Thank you for the help!
Check out my videos on the newer updated model the WS66i. Each bedroom does have their own speakers but they are not Bluetooth, they are normal wired in speakers. This system doesn't operate on Bluetooth. Now for the WS66i they have 2 built in wireless streamers, they operate on your network and not Bluetooth. But the speakers are still wired in
@@TheKMZ1 Yeah I've watched a lot of your other content recently and have seen the updated amplifier but am still not sure what you are using as your different input sources. Is everything just RCA input and that's all you can do? So if it's a TV or a Projector or if you want to listen to music from your phone it all has to be done through the RCA inputs?
can multiple users airplay say spotify simultaneously on different zones? For instance. . if I am in the garage and my wife is in the master bath .. can we each airplay our own spotify simultaneously on the 2 different zones? ... awesome setup thanks for the vid!
You can with the WS66i. Check my WS66i videos on my channel, this amp is a new upgraded model and it has 2 wireless streamers in it, so yes you can do what you are wanting with streaming 2 things to it. I have a discount code for like $500 off of that unit
That green key stone jack you mention why nothing connects to it what is its purpose there? I am a little confuse with the eternet cable from the amplifier do i need to run a separate cable from amplifier to speaker for each zone. Please help me understand before i buy this thing thanks in advance
Great video. I have a few questions. 1) Can this setup be integrated with my current 5.1 surround sound receiver i have in my living room? I would like to be able to play Audio from my TV and switch over to play music all over the same zones as well. I plan on having 6 zones MBR, MBR bath, back patio, garage, hallway, living room(separate receiver with 5.1) Total of 10 speakers + 5 for living room & 1 sub. 2) Are the keypads necessary if i am going to use the app? 3) Is there a cleaner or different option for the source wall plates than RCA like stereo in or HDMI, etc?
It's not really meant to be a 5.1 setup or replacement. But if your 5.1 has an audio out, you can use it's audio out as an input into one of the amps sources. Then you could seamlessly have the 5.1 audio go through the whole home amp. The keypads are not necessary if using the app. But they are recommended in my opinion. What is wrong with RCA as inputs? Even though it is an analog signal the quality is still no different. The amp does have an optical input, and a 3.5mm input so you can use a chromecast audio to wirelessly stream music to it. But no hdmi sorry.
Nothing wrong with RCA as inputs, was just thinking of a input wall plate with RCA/ bluetooh so that i could possibly pair my Google Home to the blutooth and have it run through all of the speakers(Polk Audio in wall) simultaneously if need be and still having the freedom of separate zone control as well. I really appreciate the time you took to give me your feedback. I am also going to get a consult with Magnolia home audio and see what other options i have. Do you have solar powering all of your equipment? I like the idea of keeping the switches in the closet as a backup, that saves a ton of wire running. @@TheKMZ1
Would you be able to connect 6 chromecast audio? 1 for each source? Also why did you choose different speakers for the garage and deck? Is that style of speaker better for outdoor configuration?
Both RCA and 3.5mm are analog audio connections (digital coaxial audio uses a RCA style plug but that's not relevant here), I think you mean that he would need to convert 4 of the 3.5mm male plugs from the chromecasts to RCA for the whole home box/amp/audio matrix.
Hello, great video! Very informational. I bought my house and it has speakers with 6 different zones but have never used all of them. I have a surround sound system that has a 2nd zone and that is how I have been running the speakers to parts of the house. There are cat5 cable with the speaker wires and access points to all zones but I noticed it has the speaker wire and the cat5 in the access port for all zones, will this set up work for the monoprice amplifier in your video or would I have to run other wires. Another thing is that there are actually two cat5 cables in every access point. I am assuming they ran two in case if one went bad in the future. The access point have all been covered to where the wires are not visible but one controller was left with a sliding volume control.
Good morning, nice video am thank you for everything Pls i have one question about using the alexa . I noticed you installed the alexa dot closer to the amplifier, does that mean that if I am in zone 6 room I can talk to alexa there without installing another alexa dot in that room , or I must install another alexa dot in each zone rooms and connect them with the alexa dot closer to the amplifier
@TheKMZ1 thanks for the reply sir Pls recommended a site I can buy the alexa dot including the charging case and where I can buy a Tablet with wireless charging case .. Thank you 😊
Hello, for your patio keypad input. What are brand/item to you are using protect the keypad from the weather? I can't find it. If you can please share the link to it.
Hi, very thorough and informative videos. I watched your whole amp and pre-wired journey. I want to set up something similar and want to ask if you know if it's possible to multipurpose 5 ceiling speakers that are already wired to a 5.1 surround sound receiver and use them through zone 1 on an amp through the receiver while watching TV, but also use them independently through a different zone in which they are directly wired to the amp on a different zone. I guess I would do to sets of wiring, one from speaker to receiver and the other one from the speaker to the amp. Can that be done? Is there a better way? Is there a risk with double powering the speakers?
ptellec that's just an outdoor weather proof electrical conver. It attaches onto a standard on wall electrical box. The weather proof covers are usually required on all outdoor electrical outlets on new homes
Awesome setup. I'm looking to install the same setup but I'm having trouble figuring out what speakers to buy. The system mentions 25 watt per channel, if I get a speaker that says 350 watt will it still work? Any suggestions on which speakers to buy?
I would be skeptical that 350 watts is the RMS value. That sounds more like a max value, which you should never look at. But i would recommend getting a speaker as close to 25 watts RMS as you can. I probably would not go above 50 but i try to match things up perfectly. Underpowering a speaker can be just as damaging if not more, than overpowering. My speaker suggestions are in the description of the video. Thanks!
@@TheKMZ1 Thanks! Next time I won't skim the description so quickly, hehe. In your opinion, would a pair of those speakers be enough for a garage that's about 25' x 30' about 12' tall? If not would I have enough flexibility to run 2 pair without an additional preamp?
@@jaredwollan1952 the black indoor outdoor speakers I used (so not the in ceiling) would definitely be more than enough, they are great speakers and get very loud, bass response is actually surprisingly good. You will not be let down
Great video... my home has speakers in every room also wall plate with just mic and volume control.. i dont think i can change zones... all wiring goes to 1 closet just dont know what amplifier or reciever to use..
Hello, couple more questions. 1) is the 50w/4ohm vs 25w/8 ohm for each of the two channels per zone or just per zone? 2) the exterior speakers you used have a power handling of 50 watts RMS/85 watts max. Given that this is a 8 ohm speaker, isn’t the power less than minimum? Thanks!
THE BEST DEMO OF WHOLE-HOME AUDIO I EVER SEEN ON TH-cam!
I've got more coming
Without a doubt! Don't know how many times I've watched this video
I completely agree.... And this was 4yrs ago. I need this setup today!
Man this really makes me look forward to the day I own my own house so I can do something like this. Great setup
What’s up! Did you get one yet? 😀
This just popped into my feed again. I'm so psyched that I found your channel and installed my Soundavo WS66i while I was buildingmy house! I love that system!
hey are you able to integrate a 5.1 surround sound system to the living room speaker and still be able to use the same speaker with the amp for music
Lmao... finally someone asked
Well? An answer would be nice ;-)
What android app do you use?
Thanks for the video. The green connectors you refer to as keystones are actually Phoenix connectors.
Dang that amp system is a steal of a deal! I can't believe it comes with the control units for that price too.
I have always wanted to do this kind of system in my house, very helpful video sir..is possible to give me a list of everything you used in this set up please , ,keep it up
Awesome video! Been waiting to pull the trigger on a purchase before I gathered information. Found all I needed here.

3:01 the best DAC for your buck
Edit: have you tried the optical input?
Thanks

1) I used keystone wall plates from Monoprice, and bought all of the keystone jacks from monoprice (i've added links to the description)
2) An RCA cable is a really simple cable. To make your own RCA cable you would use RG6 cable. RG6 cable is the same type of cable you would use to run cable tv in your house, except with a different end on it. (i've added a link to the RG6 cable that i use)
3) If you are doing construction in a residential building and not commercial, i believe it just needs to be CL2 rated. Most speaker cable you would buy is already ok to run in houses. I would suggest you use 14 guage speaker wire, i used 12 guage and it was a little over kill since i wasnt doing that long of runs. If you are doing very long runs, then i would say use 12 guage. (i've added a link to the speaker wire i used)
4) I used cat 5e cable for my install because i ran out of cat 6.
A few questions if I may:
1. Each speaker runs back to your amp?
2. What was the rg6 wire for?
3. Does the cat 6 go from the room switch to the amp?
4. Are those 6" speakers? Would you recommend 6" or 8"?

Awesome, though I'm surprised there isn't a smart phone app to control every room remotely
There is a smart phone app play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.monoprice.audiocontrol&hl=en_US

6 Month Update: I have been installed now for 6 months. I didn't use the wall controls because your app is AMAZING. I have 2 Google Audios for input sources and a TV source.
If anyone is interested in a GREAT sounding speaker. I would recommend the Theatre Solutions. I have 6 of them in 3 zones. A Polka in the master bath and 2 outside zones with Bose and Polk. Had I done the Polk first I would have only Polk outside. But I love my current setup. Thanks for the inspiration and direction @TheKMZ1
That is great to hear! Have you seen my new video? Very interesting :)
Great set up. Where is the cat 5 wire going from the keypads? Also, are speaker wires going directly to the speakers from the amplifier?
They are custom made, they are made from RG6 coax, and the ends are RCA compression connectors you can get those at home Depot or other stores like it
@@TheKMZ1 wow, thank you sooo much. I was having a hard time trying to get this together.
I love all your videos! great job.
I am looking to implement the same system but I want to integrate a couple things, wondering if you have done them or looking to do them too.
1. Use Synology NAS music server as a source
2. Use Apple Airplay
3. Control TV volume/channels from IR blaster in wall plate (looking to centralize cable box in network closet)
Check out the volumio project for the raspberry pi. It would be able to play music off of a synology or other file share source volumio.org/
Good video. Is there any way to implement a mic in the keypads? I'm curious if Alexa/Google home can be integrated into this
Not into the keypads no, the amp itself has a PA functionality though. Currently no alexa or Google home integration
Well said, okay.
It also seems you don't run it too hard, as in the unit is not close to it's maximum Wattage output.

Thanks!
Hmm.. Sounds to me like maybe a bad converter you bought. Is there a way to test it on something else to see if it's bad?
You should probably make sure the tv audio is outputting in PCM mode
I needed help figuring out how to work a system that's existing and new owners need to figure out how to use it. Where to start to look for it?
@@terryjohnston3022 it is 2 cables per source, one coax for the "red" rca and one for white. (Left and right audio)
Hi, Couple of questions please:
1- Are the Daytona Audio ceiling speakers need a housing to hold them up in ceiling or they can be fixed to the ceiling sheetrack?
2- Do I need to use the Cat5e Raiser or Plantun wire?
3- What cable I should use the TV HDMI cable? can the RG6 Coaxial cable be used as HDMI?
Thanks a lot for your effort and sharing
AJ
3 easy answers: 1) just use plenum cable 2) go ask your local electrical inspector 3) don't care and do what you want.
may want to add a fan in the closed cabinet for the amp
Wowwwww I really love your house!! The Ultimate Smart Home! 😍😍

I am planning to have Soundavo but not able to understand how to use RG6 coaxial cable to convert to RCA and put into RCA jack in your kitchen as a input
Hi,
Nice install!!
how did you run the wires?
Was your amp installed on the main floor?
Do you have a second floor and did you install any speakers/controls there?
I ran the wires in my attic, the speakers are on the main level only, not in the basement. I do not have an upstairs
I noticed you have a security camera would you be able to do a video on your survailence camera system?
Garrett B Go to Eastern Cctv.com

You would probably need hdmi over Ethernet extenders, instead of long hdmi cables. The Ethernet extenders allow longer runs! amzn.to/2Y6JEZb

Is your speakers in the bathroom special speakers that are meant for moisture, like marine speakers? And the grille too so it won't rust?
The dayton audio CS620C speakers are moisture resistant. We also have 10 ft ceilings in our house, so most of the steam dissipates and does not reach the ceilings anyway. I highly recommend these speakers, great quality, and no they are not marine speakers, just built with quality :)
@@TheKMZ1 good deal
Thanks!!
Looks awesome! What brand are your countertops? They are Quartz correct? Really awesome setup!
I believe it's granite
Check out my new video on my channel!!
Did you have this installed while the house was being built? If not how could i do this on a house already built? Thanks great video!
No this house was already built. Check my channel out,I just finished a series from start to finish on installing in an existing house!!
@@TheKMZ1 just started that series! Thanks!
TheKMZ1 i recently did an installation using this product but i didn't use coaxial wire for my source, and i have a buzzing sound, so i would like to know 1) u ran the RG6 cable from the back of the amp all the way to the wall thingy?yes? 2) Did you terminate the ends of the RG6 cables usign RCA plugs? thanks superb video
chuky sweettooth yes 1 RG6 for red RCA and 1 RG6 for white RCA, so every source has 2 RG6 cables. And yes each cable has a terminated RCA end on it
yessssss thanks thanks thanks, it all works without no buzzing sound, thanks alot RG6 was the missing link
You could only achieve this with the app control. Currently you can't do that with the keypad control
Also check out my channel on the WS66i new model amp
Is it possible to manage the source/output through an API ? that way it can be paired with a home automation system. Ty.
Our home came with one but never knew howw to use it
Great video. Thanks. Question. Have large kitchen with cathedral ceiling that is pre wired ., would like to use 4 speakers, but the wiring is daisy chained thus only two speaker wires to access. Possible to bridge 4 channels to drive two channels with 2 4ohm speakers per channel and sound great?
Wow.. Great job explaining what you've done.. Fantastic!
Edit: I see your description now
When rack mounting the receiver did you only use the 4 cage bolts on the face? Seems heavy to me ? Should use a shelf ?
I've had no issues with using the 4 bolts. I think it's fine just use that!
@@TheKMZ1 thanks I’ve watched all you whole home audio videos . Finishing up a self built cabin 1200 sq ft 6 zones 15 speakers

Wow, great video. Taught me a lot. Will be looking into the other brand as well! Thanks!
Do you have a video showing your actual wiring process?
I have a series i made on my channel, called "Whole home audio from start to finish". It details everything!
can multiple users airplay say spotify simultaneously on different zones?
Idk why there is an extra one but everything is great with this system you won't be let down
Hi, can you explain how you did the chrome set up. I got a system from my previous owner. But no clue on it.
@@TheKMZ1
@@THEEblackdynamite I do not have any solar powering, or any renewable energy. Thanks for watching!
Would you be able to connect 6 chromecast audio? 1 for each source? Also why did you choose different speakers for the garage and deck? Is that style of speaker better for outdoor configuration?
federal3041 yes you could connect that many chrome casts but you would need to buy 4 digital to analog converters to convert the rca to 3.5 mm
federal3041 and yes those outdoor speakers are a much better speaker
Both RCA and 3.5mm are analog audio connections (digital coaxial audio uses a RCA style plug but that's not relevant here), I think you mean that he would need to convert 4 of the 3.5mm male plugs from the chromecasts to RCA for the whole home box/amp/audio matrix.
How do you run the RG6 cable notice you had one from the box to the tv however the remaining that's in the cabinet where exactly you have it wire to
Hello, great video!
Good morning, nice video am thank you for everything
Pls i have one question about using the alexa .
I noticed you installed the alexa dot closer to the amplifier, does that mean that if I am in zone 6 room I can talk to alexa there without installing another alexa dot in that room , or I must install another alexa dot in each zone rooms and connect them with the alexa dot closer to the amplifier
Yes you can still talk into that Alexa plugged into the amp!
@TheKMZ1 thanks for the reply sir
Pls recommended a site I can buy the alexa dot including the charging case and where I can buy a Tablet with wireless charging case ..
Thank you 😊

Have you seen my video on my channel talking about the pre amp outputs?
What is the box you used for the outside station? Looking to do the same for my patio.
ptellec that's just an outdoor weather proof electrical conver.

@@TheKMZ1 thanks i was stocking yur videos...lol.
Thanks!
