    ►LYRICS - Red Headed Stranger
A red headed stranger from Blue Rock, Montana
He rode into town one day
And under his knees was a raging black stallion
An' walkin' behind was a bay
The red headed stranger had eyes like thunder
His lips they were sad and tight
His little lost love lay asleep on the hillside
And his heart was heavy as night
Don't cross him, don't boss him
    He's wild in his sorrow
He's ridin' and hidin' his pain
Don't fight him, don't spite him
    Let's wait till tomorrow
And maybe he'll ride on again
A yellow haired lady looked out of her window
And watched as he passed her way
She drew back in fear at the sight of the stallion
But cast greedy eyes on the bay
How could she know that this dancing bay pony
It meant more to him than life
This was the horse that his little lost darlin'
Had ridden when she was his wife
Don't cross him, don't boss him
    He's wild in his sorrow
He's ridin' and hidin' his pain
Don't fight him, don't spite him
    Let's wait till tomorrow
And maybe he'll ride on again
The yellow haired lady went down to the tavern
And looked up the stranger there
He bought her a drink and he gave her some money
He just didn't seem to care
She followed him out as he saddled the stallion
And laughed as she grabbed at the bay
He shot her so quick they had no time to warn her
    She never heard anyone say
Don't cross him, don't boss him
    He's wild in his sorrow
He's ridin' and hidin' his pain
Don't fight him, don't spite him
    Let's wait till tomorrow
And maybe he'll ride on again
The yellow haired lady was buried at sunset
The stranger went free of course
You can't hang a man for killin' a woman
Who's tryin' to steal your horse
So this is the tale of the red headed stranger
And if he should pass your way
Stay out of the path of the raging black stallion
And don't lay a hand on the bay
Don't cross him, don't boss him
    He's wild in his sorrow
He's ridin' and hidin' his pain
Don't fight him, don't spite him
    Let's wait till tomorrow
And maybe he'll ride on again
Don't fight him, don't spite him
    Let's wait till tomorrow
And maybe he'll ride on again

Had the pleasure of meeting The Petersens in Wilson, NC. Not only was I in awe the whole time they played, meeting them was an even more pleasure. All of them took time to talk. They are as down to Earth and humble as they seem in their videos. You just don't get that from a majority of the groups out there. I am a fan for life.
Talking with Ellen was like talking to an old friend. Julianne was so sweet and seemed shy. Matt is a hoot. Katie was such a pleasure to talk to, and mama....well, I felt like I knew her my whole life. I could talk to her for hours. Didn't get a chance to speak with Emmet but Jon, the dad, is a really nice noble guy. Thank you for your service to our country sir!! God Bless the Petersens!!

      @Dovid2000 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

@@trevrockrock16 Of course they're normal people! The word "godsend" is an expression which means that God's providence is everywhere to be seen, just as it is at this instance when people in general are in need of encouragement and uplifting through song. You see, the media portrays the USA as being in turmoil (whether from the political divide raging in America, or the Coronavirus pandemic, or street demonstrations, etc.), but The Petersens bring to us a sense of calm and tranquility. Their musical gifts and talents, I must add, are also something that they have been blessed with by their Creator.

These videos convey a certain image of a family, but one cannot know what's behind the media appeareance. One cannot know what goes on in the heads, there might be lots of pressure, we'll never know. What they are showing is just a part of family-life and that part in this case is strongly buisiness related.
I like the music very much and loveley families are allways wellcome. Lets support the ones who are trying and fail and who convey an not-so-easy- image.
How? Lets promote things like marshall rosenbergs non violent communication and other ideas which focus on the needs of the individual (of course in the group :-), however that 'family' is composed).

But one thing I know for certain is that when you find music that is the real deal, it brings you back to it again and again, which is why I can confess that this group has captured me, so that I look forward to my daily dose. Especially at this time when American's are so divided, music can still show us our best nature. Best luck to this wonderful group.

I’ve played this song for years - mostly around campfires - 👏🏻to whoever did the arrangement - at the end of the violin interlude - holding that chord - and the chord progression through the verse of “the yellow haired lady went down to the tavern...”. I’ve never heard it done that way and it was perfect - matches the lyrics perfectly. Kudos to Emmett on this song (and to him too if he’s the one behind the arrangement). Thanks for all the great content!
