    In Dragons Dogma, there's a quest where somebody is looking for a powerful spell. You can give them a dupe item and keep the one for yourself. Later on in the story, you fight a major boss and said character comes to save you. If you gave them the duped item, the spell will fizzle and the boss fight stays difficult. I thought this was hilarious.

      True but if you're already a powerful sorcerer throwing around tornados meteors miasma and so on. It's not really gonna make that much of a difference XD I still give him the book though anyway. It's more useful to him than it is to me. It just lets the player call down a singular meteor spell. Something sorcerers can do whenever they please. (Unless that changed. I haven't played that part in quite a while. Since before dark arisen was released.)

    Telltale's Walking Dead Season 4. The mistake? Listening to James about AJ. He pleads with you when AJ has Lily at gun point that it'll turn him into a murderer. Now, some players were smart enough to know not to let her live after all the, you know, teenagers she'd probably murdered in cold blood, but some listened to James and stopped AJ killing Lily. What happened next was predictable: she stabs him through the throat and runs away to kidnap, torture and lead more teens to their death.
    Rule 1 of a zombie apocalypse: bad guys can't be spared. They always come back to kill more people.

    Despite it’s inclusion on this List, I would encourage any Fallout Player to do a Low-Intelligence Build at least once….. Interplay & Bethesda both put quite a bit of effort into making these special (especially in Fallout 2 where there is actually an entire Ending Path JUST for Dumb Characters). 👍👍👍

    This entire list could have been made just from Sierra games. Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers, will give you a randomized code at the start of the game that only becomes important much later on when you've already completed most of it. This is a procedurally randomized code, meaning you can't just look it up online. If you forgot to write it down, you will have to start the entire game all over again.

    I actually enjoyed the planet-mining… however I was disappointed when my materials/resources didn’t transfer to ME:3. I mean, I’d prefer if those mining planets were worlds we could just travel to with one side quest per planet, that would’ve been fun…

    Uhm, the Tyrant fight in CV is explicitly programmed to be beatable without expending a single round of ammo. If you keep trying to knock him out of the plane enough times, he will eventually be knocked out whether you damage him or not.
    It's designed this way so you can leave ammo and weapons in the box for Chris.

    The Chaos Frame in Ogre Battle 64. How you capture/liberate cities adds or subtracts to a behind-the-scenes counter that isn't revealed until the end. In Final Fantasy Tactics, the game prompts you to save before what will be a 1 on 1 fight. If you don't have the right gear or jobs unlocked, it's an impossible to beat boss. That's why I always have like 5 different saves in rotation. I didn't know that part when I first played it as a kid.

He maxes out too early and becomes useless to your party. Same for Fire Emblem Awakening, Not recruiting the farm boy or neglecting to train the dancer comes back to bite you as they're the strongest units in your party by 3rd job advance and max level.

    Theres an older game that has this down expertly - Space Quest 5 (from 1993).
    This is a classic point and click Adventure game, but in good Sierra tradition, it is brutal and can and will kill you for any reason they considered funny.
    In the case of Space Quest 5 however, there is a built-in no-win scenario that only shows itself several (as in 5 or so) hours after you missed one critical item - a Banana.
    Yes, because you did not pick up a random Banana near the beginning of the game, you can't plug it into the exhaust pipe of a Terminator kill-bot, which then does not die, and subsequently kills you. Only way to fix is a reload to an older save and to play 2/3 of the game again (including a very, very unfair and exhausting maze sequence).

    Eternal Darkness, Sanity's Requiem- Miss the three effigies in the stages for Karim, Roberto, and Michael means losing the Enchanted Gladius, the best melee weapon in the game. It has a seven point enchantment of the superior alignment in your run through, can be thrown like any thrown or ranged weapon and always returns to your hand.
    Also in game, you need to use Dispel Magick in several rooms on Edwin Lindsey's stage to break the barrier in one hallway on the first floor, than use Summon Monster go summon a Trapper to walk through the hole in the wall. Once the Trapper is on the sigil of Matarok, release it and prepare to fight a Horror. Once the Mantarok rune is claimed, you have the ability to heal Sanity and Health in one rune and the Mantarok rune gives you the ability to go invisible with the Reveal spell, and offensive magick have a corrosive or poison feature to them.

    Starfox 64 missing the secret level procs, so you dont get to take the back path into andross and getting the true ending, also wasting all your bluebonbs before fighting the starwolf team just before you enter the andross’s brain fight. Theres a way to pull them into a diagonal corner and flipping on them and hitting them all with multiple blue bombs doing serious damage to all of them. Without useing this tactic the fight is extremely difficult, and youll likely waste most of your extra lives right before andross’s brain, which is. Much harder than the regular last boss

      I don't think the video was trying to say that low-int builds are bad to do or make the game unwinnable-- I think it was just trying to point out that you do miss out on being able to complete certain quests because your character lacks the understanding of them.

    • @martinmilosevic9403
      @martinmilosevic9403 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DRCEQ perhaps, but it should not be on a list of "mistakes", since it in 1, 2, and New Vegas opens up to new options, as well as close some others off, in a more or less balanced way.
      And in 3, 4, and 76 it has near to no effect on available content or quests.

    That *one* fucking line of dialogue in the middle of Cyberpunk 2077 that locks you out of the secret, 'death wish' ending if you don't choose it

      well, that's what a 'secret ending' means

    • @pinewolfpresents
      @pinewolfpresents 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@marcusc9931 The focus of the game isn't figuring out how to unlock hidden endings like NeiR. The game literally sets out every other ending in front of you at the same time. Except the death wish ending. Because of one sentence from 40-60 hours earlier. You don't lock a player out of the most important ending of your expansive, player choice oriented, 100+ hour open world RPG based on *one line of dialogue* with a character (Johnny) that you spend dozens of hours talking to. That is bullshit

    Mass Effect 2, that's fair. Mine, harvest, etc everything. Don't need it? Don't care.
    Parrying in Dark Souls I wouldn't really say is something that came back to haunt you. Dodging is the core mechanic of all fromsoft games, if you missed THAT, then yea, you're screwed. Parry was just helpful in some instances. Except DS2, where you could block ad infinitum and it was king.
    Prey made it pretty clear that using alien upgrades was bad from the start, so if you were surprised, well, I'm impressed.

    This one might be from the 1980's, but it still haunts me to this day. Letting the alien with the big red lips kiss Roger Wilco in Space Quest 2. It seems harmless enough at first, but will cost you any chance of completing the game in that run through. And to add insult to injury, not only will you be less than 30 seconds away from completing the game before this reveal occurs, but if you haven't saved a game at an appropriate time prior to the incident, you'll have to play through the whole game again. Groan.

    My favorite story for this is when I played divinity 2 DKS and at the end of the game you meet a person begging you to be let out of there jail so they can help you. You are told not to and ultimately is your choice. If you let him out later during the final fight he will fight against you making it MUCH harder during an already hard fight.
