This album ("Nothing Like the Sun") came out when I was in high school, and I saw Sting perform it live in concert at Long Island's Nassau Veteran's Memorial Coliseum with several friends. The album is SUBLIME. Almost every song is a favorite. Some are good, and others are simply beautiful. Please go check it out. I'm sure you'll find it worthwhile.
peacefuljeffrey Nice. I saw him performing live (same album) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. When the moment of "They dance alone" came, Sting asked mothers of Plaza de Mayo (of missing people victims of militar dictatorship) to come up to stage. It was so moving.
i have loved this song since 1988..i have loved this man much longer. i saw him finally 15 years ago in Chicago. after, i thought i could die peacefully now
Wow. Sting took a big left turn with this lineup. I have never heard of the guitarist, drummer, or the bassist anywhere else but this band. I remember seeing ads for Sabian cymbals with that Jean Paul guy and wondering who in the world he was. He was still searching for a guitarist and he found one in Dominic Miller in time for The Soul Cages. I’m not sure why he felt the need to hire a bass player again. I didn’t see this show but I saw The Soul Cages, Brand New Day, and Sacred Love. I would’ve liked to have seen Branford Marsalis, Kenny Kirkland, or Mino Cinelu, the percussionist, but seeing Vinnie Colaiuta made up for it.
Anybody can tell me why Sting didn't continue with Jeffrey Lee Campbell? Do not misunderstand me. I like Dominic Miller, but Jeffrey was not single-handed and played the guitar with a lot of feeling.
peacefuljeffrey---Great bass player; great songwriter; great performer; great voice; great lyricist; great composer; etc. And then, on top of all that, super good-looking. True superstar.
Dave Pearson While I'm not crazy about what they did at the end of this particular rendition, the rendition he did on the album "Nothing Like the Sun" is sublime. It's my favorite version of this song by anyone. (I'll admit that it may help that it was the first version I'd ever heard, even ahead of Jimi's own, so ...)
@@TheKing-ij4mh stick to the sitar raaj and steady on when you talk about the great Jimmy hendrix who not only wrote this tune , but taught the whole world that there are no limits but yourself in what you can do with a musical instrument. Without the genius Jimmy laying out the blueprint to the modern way of playing a guitar there wouldn't be any of these amazing guitarist. Ask them and they'll tell you who is the godfather. So put some respect on jimmys name and keep practicing on that sitar.
I was there and will never forget this fantastic solo !
This performance still gives me goosebumps after all these years ❤
Branford took this album to another level.
Live ❤❤❤and Music
1990 Amnesty Concert version in Chile is also brilliant

When, probably the wisiest rock artist shows how he feels this masterpiece!
Absolutely, bar none, one of my all time favorites, easily in my top 100 songs/performances ever.
This is so awesome
Best version EVER.
...and that's what I need in 2020, autumn!

Jeff has a book. He got a little cocky and it rubbed Sting the wrong way. Personally, I felt he lacked soul and creativity in his playing.
Very artist
Da Sting a TIM music awards….
Yo la veo caminar
Por las nubes va
? donde andara?
Mariposa libre que sue? a

Why no piensa en nada m? s
Solo en vivir
Si estoy triste viene a mi
Mil sonrisas trae
Las d? porque si
Why me dice est? , bien, todo bien
Estoy aqui why soy de ti
Soy de ti
Sting looks cool with the longer blonde hair.
+jkyles1000 He looks better with hair in general. :)
+Rhinsac Yep, but Sting is cool regardless of hair.
jkyles1000 Although I'm straight, I have to say that he was simply a gorgeous man back then. Even now he's still good looking.

He looked better with long, short, blonde, dark, or no hair at all.
In the 80's he was a bomb.
I thougt he was Kurt Cobain
Hiram Bullock is the real deal, Dominic Miller is decent but Jeffrey is so bad
The guitarist doesn’t do this justice here. Actually piss poor version of it
Sorry Sting, you've done some good stuff in your time, but here you've ruined one of Jimi's most beautiful songs.

Oh ...my ...! Incredible to read this!!!
hahahahhahahaha its much better than jimi's version
