"The Home Secretary Is A KNOB!" Shaun Ryder and Tomi Lahren Debate Cannabis Laws

  • In an unlikely crossover, Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder and Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren join Piers Morgan Uncensored to debate whether cannabis should be re-classified as a class A drug or if we should go to the other extreme and legalise it in the UK.
Shaun starts off the interview by branding Home Secretary Suella Braverman who made the suggestion the drug should be reclassified "a knob". He then reflects on his own experience of smoking the drug to claim it isn't addictive or have any long-term effects. However Tomi defends not legalising cannabis as there are different risks other than direct death or overdosing, such as it being a 'gateway' drug.

What annoys me is the uk is one of the biggest exporters of cannabis. We have multiple farms and one of the biggest government run cannabis farms in the world that sells to abroad yet they say it’s harmful and made it illegal over here🤷‍♂️

    • @MaXwellFalstein
      @MaXwellFalstein ปีที่แล้ว +1

The UK is not one of the largest cannabis exporters.
The UK is/was (as of 2018) the largest CBD or THC exporter. Most cannabis-derived products cannot be classed as cannabis.
The UK Government does not own or run cannabis farms; it permitted a few cannabis farms to be erected in the UK for CBD, THC and other derived products. Some of these products are licensed for lawful medicinal sale in the UK.
The UK Government's view will be slightly different to the scientific reports generated by experts and testing various consumptions of cannabis and derived products.
UKHSA would state the scientific aspects.
UKHSA may be asked to consult on the societal effects.
UK Government would produce a report on the societal effects and make a judgement resulting in a policy to be tabled in the House of Commons.

Don't be fooled by drugs as the cause of homelessness across the US. The states that are warmer tend to have the higher populations of homeless people. It’s a gateway/door…..to the refrigerator! But that’s it for your typical pot smokers! Many of my friends & I have smoked since the 70’s. I’ve had a medical marijuana card for years, & now it’s legal to smoke in many US states, including mine! My friends who smoke & I have all been respectable, responsible & productive adults for over 40 years. As far as I know, we all follow a few basic rules regarding smoking: 1) Only smoke at home or in a friend’s home, 2) don’t drive or operate dangerous machinery unless you’re sure you’re not impaired, 3) NEVER smoke around children or young teens (under 18), & 4) don’t smoke if you have any responsibilities to fulfill before you’re no longer high cuz it’s probably not going to get done. Same basic rules you should follow when drinking alcohol. Don’t stumble over the stigma of the word “pot.” And STOP thinking the dazed & confused perpetually stoned guy in the movies is your typical pot smoker. He’s not. He’s the poster boy for what NOT to do when you’re high. For every waster forever stoner, there are dozens, maybe hundreds, of people YOU KNOW or see frequently whom you’ll never know smoke because they’re normal, responsible adults.

Should it be legalised, why not. I mean alcohol, is also a drug and addictive. Alcohol abuse has ruined many lives, and has also killed people. People can become antisocial when drunk, even violent. With cannabis, I have never heard of anyone becoming antisocial or violent when using it. In fact, I think the opposite is true. I used cannabis when I was stressed, and yes, it helped. It's a sad fact that we now live in a very stressful time, more so than ever before. I don't think this woman realises she's arguing FOR cannabis legalisation... Her response to the fact that no one has OD'd on cannabis but have on alcohol is about studies into the long term effects of cannabis... Ok but no matter the effects, it can't kill you but alcohol can. And she talks about the lack of regulation... That LITERALLY calls for legalisation

Legalising Cannabis would fix all the issues Piers is arguing. The reason why there are cases of individuals having bad experiences is because it is unregulated. Go to countries where it is legalised, the THC and CBD levels are clearly displayed. What's on the streets now is effectively moonshine, legalisation would open the market to melower strains which wouldn't risk psychosis.

You dont go around begging for your next fix. You dont spend a fortune on cut up rubbish coke. You dont end up in hospital with a broken nose for being drunk. You dont ruin your life on cannabis. Like divorce, loosing your kids, job, home. Dignity.

It's completely and utterly ridiculous. It should be legal. Many scientific studies have proven cannabis helps people with serious illness, to manage chronic pain. It's legal to have a prescription. A few years ago, a court ruled that controlled cannabis should be given to this young boy who was suffering from seizures, and guess what? His seizures stopped and now he has a better quality of life. Lots of people smoke it, at festivals, parties etc. No one has ever been stopped at Glastonbury for smoking a bit of weed. For the government to make this a class A drug is bonkers.

Ye she’s full of shit I’ve smoked weed for 16 years and I’ve never experienced a bad effect of it. The only bad side effect is the price of it and as a daily smoker i spend a lot on weed and like that guy said if it becomes a problem you just stop smoking it and that seems to work fine for me. Some of the most successful and healthy people in the world smoke weed. Also I believe I am old enough to decide what I do with myself and my body. I don’t drink alcohol and I don’t do any other drugs so I like to smoke a weed and as a regular gym goer I find it helps me with aches and pains. Most people I’m around can’t even tell when I’m stoned because I’m more or less exactly the same just with a better mood and more relaxed . It’s only harmful if you smoke it there are many ways to take it without damaging your lungs like eating space cakes

Tomi the voice piece of nonsense. Honestly the fentanyl point is ridiculous. If it’s regulated then the regulator is responsible for ensuring the quality of the product as with all other consumables.
Gateway drug argument is silly. Tobacco is the gateway drug for weed so do we ban that?
Part of the problem in America is that it’s legal in some states and not others. So I’m sure those who want to take it have moved however rather than chucking around silly unsubstantiated claims maybe we could be some data.

Such rubbish, marijuana is legal here in the Netherlands. It's not a perfect industry yet but we tax it, we can regulate what legal distributors put through it and honestly demographically speaking, it is not that common average Dutch residents smoke pot. Cigarettes are much worse and have zero added effect except satisfying addiction. Decriminalising drugs is the way to regulate them and allow those addicted to shamelessly seek help. American homelessness is purely because of Republicans and their 'if you don't work , you don't get shit' mentality. Try telling that to a heroine addict.

I think the British people should think really hard before doing something just because America does it. Often I've seen things happen in the U.K just because it also happened in the U.S. If your country is really a sovereign country, act like it. This is the only thing I dislike most about the United Kingdom. They call their relationship with the U.S a "special relationship" when in reality they are more of a puppet of the United States, bending to the will of whoever is the U.S head of state.

It's relevant because in the past they've taken the "America did it so let's do it too" approach to things before.
