Wow, I never thought I would hear Shaun comparing his hormone struggles with what women go through with menopause. Brilliant . Love this vid in its totality.
Zak is phenomenal. I first saw him with The Who in '99 and probably 12 or 13 times since. He has the Keith Moon energy but is completely his own drummer. He's no tribute act. He controls the chaos of Moonie and it works perfectly with latter-day Roger and Pete.
I first met him when I roadied for his band Mono Pacific back in the early 80's. Great memories!!...
Pete the paedo? You fans are dirty rotters, imagine supporting a man caught paying for images of children being abused!
He is a great drummer. He was great in oasis too. A lot of oasis fans didn’t like his drumming, but I thought he was great in that. He does look a bit of a mess these days though.
Given Zak’s drumming pedigree & résumé, it never occurred to me that he might be completely fuckin’ barking! Good lad.
Good one - me neither , never heard him interviewed before, I wrongly assumed that he was too sensible or sensitive of his heritage and was a quiet lad
Why am i finding this difficult to watch .. its an overload… i can only bare it in 30 second snatches
Cant believe what I'm watching.
Yes i don't know if that comment means bad or 'this is brilliant ',but I did see zac with his eyes closed at the start -maybe looking down? ...
Everyone knows Mondays later songs, and they are great, but the first album is a masterpiece.
Now I'm in the mood to watch "24 hour party people" with Coogan playing the head of Factory records, excellent stuff!
Such a good film. Shaun hates ig because it's him to a tee probably played down that's how mad the Mondays was back in the late 80s, proper Manc scallies.
THE SAME WITH TONY WILSON BUT OPPOSITE WITH HIS ACTOR AS HES MORE LIKE A COMEDIAN HE HATED IT
That was a great one, I could have listened to those 3 all day.
Great show Rob, met Shaun in a small intimate club in Reading one night, late 90's or early 2000, his DJ was to play the instrumentals of Happy Mondays and Shaun was to vocal mic live. It was such a good party night, I just bought a new parka coat and asked if he would sign it with a permanent thick marker pen, which he did and still have to this day... after the first few tracks played... we were all dancing around.. he put the mic down and danced with all our friends instead as we all sang the tunes... fantastic fun... love the man... and he enjoyed us all too / TREPANIC :)
Yes of course.. frequented it many many times, the venue where I met Shaun was called Nino's.. just down the road from After Dark / TREPANIC
this may be one of my favorite episodes. Brydon just sitting back and listening to great tales, with the occassional proding.
Best interview I've seen in ages! Can't wait for the album
Saw Zak playing with The Who, amazing drummer
What are legends they are! Cheers!
Loved this... Wasn't a typical Rob podcast experience, but balanced it brilliantly. Ryder so sharp. Universal opinion that Sean is not focused, but he is extraordinary.
Zac seems a mix of decent guy and spoilt manchild all in one disheveled heap. If he wasn’t a good drummer I’d dislike him. Shaun and him together is a perfect combo!
Would any of us be better, if we had experienced Keith Moon being our babysitter, letting us drink all the alcohol in the house😂
He looks more like the son of worzel gummidge than ringo Starr.😂
Had a trip to Australia recently, timed it well as Happy mondays on their oz/nz tour, great memories and looking forward to next years UK tour dates
Lovely heartwarming stuff. Feelin’ bouncy now.
That was a nice surprise as I didn’t know about new band. ❤✌🏼🙏🏼
Really great interview. Legends
Excellent interview, Rob.
Merry Christmas fellas 🎄 all the best regards from here on the West Coast side of Australia 🌏🙏🖖🤟🇦🇺🐨👽
Brilliant…👏 🎶 👌❤️
Brydon is either sinking down in awe within the interview or he's putting this on...?
The other two...
AI generated 😂❤
I worked with him in The Next/Mono Pacific for years. Good Times
Love 'The Happy Mondays'
Love 'Black Grape'
and now after all these years .......
I really like Shaun Ryder 😃
Happy Mondays - WFL (Think about the Future mix) on vinyl...... BANGIN!! 😎
One of the greatest answers to any question ever.
Q: What do you do then?
Zak: Well my dad was the drummer in the Beatles, my godfather was Keith Moon and now I'm the drummer in Oasis and The Who.
Mic drop.
True legends
Soo funny, love them 😂
a very f***ing interesting interview!
It was like Rob was doing a parody of "This Is Spinal Tap!"...The aging years
I enjoy your content peace and respect everytime
Good to see Sean open up about the thyroid issue etc., being honest and open about medical issues is important.
Dope
I don't think there's a person alive who cares less about their own appearance than Zak S.
Great to see these two together. Long may they reign. (and stay out of the nick)
'What is the swearing on this? What time is it on?'
Shaun and Zakk grasping the modern world. Classic.
babysat by moony!. how fab.
This was fucking brilliant.
Rob, You as Uncle Bryn was Waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy Cool and Edgy. Come On!!!!!
I only need a line😂
Rob Bryon: Dry Cool.
* getting old / er
is not for the faint hearted.!
😉😂
that was fun.!
can we do that again.?
😉😄
✌🏻🌏🇦🇺🤘🏻
Oh dear. Tedious.
Well done Rob for trying to interview these two. I like Shaun Ryder but his adhd makes it hard to have a decent conversation with him without the interruptions. Zak I couldn't warm to at all. It was a hard listen when these two are not really podcast friendly.
@@steveconnolly322 he is but he talked over Rob constantly. Not having a go, my sons adhd but for a podcast it's not the best to listen to.
@@emupudding30 true, but it is his adhd. And sharing what he did about his health problems is a great thing some men don’t normally do so vulnerably.
Yeah I would agree, a hard listen but worth staying with, not the usual podcast from Rob that’s for sure.
All these years I never knew Ringo had a drummer son 😆
When they touched on the Beatles, I couldn’t agree more. The cultural equivalent of the Nuclear bomb. What on earth it must be like for Zac , God knows. You can see in Sean’s eye how mind blowing it is being a degree of separation from “that band”
Good episode. Zak looks nothing like his old man!
" pay for their fuckin feripe"
Zak was a great addition to Oasis during the DBTT tour. His style was perfect for the band & only left to go back touring with the who as the who had basically only loaned him to oasis. Shame. ✌️🙌✌️
Hard to imagine the fun it must've been when Keith Moon was babysitting😂
@@ramalama9650Hmm, agreed. Would’a been MY first thought (and concern) too. jfc!😉✌️
Zak is actually the son of Mark E Smith
Who was 8 when Zac was born, so it holds up better than a lot of things you read on SM😂
How terrible our health system is. I'm 64 I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid 3 years ago. My doctor told me they would have to intervene with medication. I asked him to give me 4 weeks and test me again. They did the test and it was normal. I had been taking Iodine. I've been on it ever since. Still have annual blood tests still normal.
Thus is funny man , shaun ryder is a fucking geezer man !!!😂
Zak is correct like Roger Waters was about electronic synthesizers. AI is nothing more than like how the force of water is used (Hoover Dam) to generate power. It's a force to be respected for sure, but it's only scary if we don't command it.
Only one of them on this podcast, has to enter a room and proclaim, I’m rock’N’roll!!!!! Well my dad was anyway🤔!!!!
It's sooo....un fair....... why have i got images of Kevin n Perry..what's going on with my bud I got
Love shaun ❤ look up the carnivore diet shaun you be brand new in 6 Months. ❤
You get everywhere a bit faster
Get some people in ...
God they must have talked nonsense for hours to only get a edit of 20 odd minutes 😂😂
😆😗
I had an overactive thyroid and I was a lazy fat bastard. I did lose weight. But it got better and now I've gained it all back.
You just never know.
It was only when mine went crazy that I lost a lot of weight. Gained it all back, then a lot more. Now I have to exercise 4 hours a day to not be a lazy fat bastard. Thyroid problems aren't fun, when I was on the tablets to treat hyper, I went hypothyroid for a while, felt like I had no energy, going from one extrema to the other was horrible.
@@sharpvidtube I had a temporary issue of anti-TSH antibodies, so the problem was never with my thyroid; it was just getting bad instructions. I lost a lot of weight, which I mostly gained back, but I was also both nervous and sluggish. No bueno.
Fortunately for me, my immune system improved and my antibody level went down to almost 0. I still get my thyroid checked periodically, but it stays normal now.
I just have genetic issues that cause a variety of interesting and inexplicable symptoms. 🤷🤷🤷
Noodled
Zak's mannerisms and demeanour are unmistakably like a younger Ringo. [Edit: but Ringo would never have held himself like that IMO, that unironic "rock star" manspreading etc, which is understandable given the difference in the upbringing of father and son]. I feel like self deprecation is also something Zac wouldn't exactly be familiar with, to put it mildly.
It's true Steve McQueen is no as good as he used to be
Don't do drugs kids 😵💫
I dont think its understating it to say that if Pete, Roger and John (as The Who was back then) hadn't managed to get Zak, they wouldn't have carried on as long as they have. I just wish that Starkey boy would cut his hair. Bloody mod.
That was too short man
Zak.... spinal.....tap
Why did the interview have to end there. It felt like it could of gone for another 2 hours and still not have all there is to say.
Keith Moon the babysitter 😂😂😂 but they’re right, he would of he on their level. Not sure how well he’d of copied in an emergency mind.
Listening to them talking they sound like they'd be miserable to have to work with, but 1) they get each other and they make it work and 2) they sound like, as a band, they could either be really pathetically bad or absolute genius.
Waaaaaay too short
Not of
Old freemasons
Zak sounds like Bonehead
Fuck
Why am i finding this difficult to watch .. its an overload… i can only bare it in 30 second snatches
'I keep swearing. Is that alright?" I wish Rob had said, 'No.'
I didn't get any further with a Rob interview for the first time.
The world has left me behind, I know. It used to be called crude, offensive and unnecessary.
It still is for me so I must quietly leave.
Well fuk off then, no need to make a song and dance about it. 🙂 Expletives, fruity language, swearing call it what you will its all part of the rich tapestry of the English language. But I guess some folk are too delicate to appreciate it. Cee U Next Tuesday.
@@johnmiller9953 T`was merely a jest my good fellow, except the part about it being part of language 🙂
Do you ever question why it was called called crude, offensive and unnecessary? For a lot of people, swearing is a vital part of their language. Both parents used it, all their friends used it, the people they worked with used it, they think its odd that some words are considered offensive by some people, while others aren't. I like what Stephen Fry said about it th-cam.com/video/s_osQvkeNRM/w-d-xo.html
Even the ignorant way he sits...
In an interview many years ago Ryder bragged about how he would always have a dump in the sink before he checked out of his hotel room. I thought he was a complete tosser back then and it would appear my view has not altered in the intervening period.
What a pair of wasters and not at all remotely funny.
You surely can get better guests than them Rob.

Happy Mondays and Black Grape are two of the biggest British bands of the last 40 years. Yes he is a rock star.
Shame it wasn't just Shaun Ryder being interviewed. Zak's a great drummer but seems like a bit of an annoying git.
Shout out to Paul Ryder, the real driving force of happy Mondays . Rip Paul x
Squurrel & G Man. It don't get no better.
Quite right. One of the most underrated albums ever made.
real talk
100% agree
