Yup, I'm 54 this year as well and lifestyle choice is massive...training 4-6 times/week and eating clean goes a long way when we're over 40 (or 50). I tend to sleep earlier, but also wake up earlier and get training done before heading to work (not as much energy at the end of the day). Love the channel & really appreciate the tips! Thank you John!
Hi John I'm moving house today having separated after 25 years of marriage. I've been in out of dark places over the last 2 years, watching your videos are always a great boost even I needed it. This one today is exactly what I need. Here's to motivation and getting my MOJO back again. Thanks mate and have a great birthday
Been there myself! After just 7 years of marriage I was out of shape, wearing huge clothing, outdated hairstyle, etc. I fixed all of these issues and became relevant! Best feeling ever
Spot on as always John. I do all 9 things and it is amazing. I've had women in their 30's compliment me on my clothing or the way I smell. Recently have had a couple of people tell me that I look to be in my mid-50's. I'll be 66 in a few months!!
It's hard to understate the effect of diet and exercise. My wife and I will be attending a pool party on Sunday with a group of people who are around our age (and some who are older than that). Aside from me, there *might* be one other man there who looks physically fit. There will also be 3-4 ladies who look physically fit. Other than than, everyone else will be carrying around enough extra weight to look well past their prime. Getting in shape isn't instant, but it didn't take me *that* long to see gains. And *starting* is instant.
Absolutely people instantly give you more respect as an in shape person it gives you an aura of success. Being physically strong gives you an immense edge over the flabby weak men at any gathering. You can fake wealth success or intelligence but not physical strength or shape
I took up exercise in my 30s. (there was a time between this and my high school sports, where I discovered women and drink) But I've never stopped and now I'm 74 and still running, only stopping for the occasional injury. I also did a social science degree in my dotage. It kept me alert, and I beat the pants off most of those young people doing my courses - because of life experience - not necessarily brains, just life experience. It counts. 😁 That increased my confidence a hell of a lot. (It helps that education is relatively cheap here in NZ)
Happy birthday John. I am 62 and the key to looking young besides dressing, grooming, proper rest, and exercise is to keep an open mind. Things change as we grow and it is important to learn, understand, and communicate with our peers and the younger generation.
Particularly Enjoyed this One J. Exercise and vitamin supplementation have been a game changer for me. It is weird how as we age we change. I believe and “BELIEVE” being the word what we think of ourselves ultimately manifests in our lives. So gents. Encourage you to not only have positive thoughts but to also “tell yourself that great things will come to ME”. The power of strong positive mind is your greatest advantage.
Very solid advice on this video. I've been starting to take better care of myself and thankfully, I'm at an age where I can become who I want to be by around 40.
Happy birthday John .. another brilliant and relevant video .. great content .. as I’m the same age as you I always look forward to your videos .. keep up the great work we all appreciate it
I was ready to give the Tiege skin care a try, went all the way to the payment page and appears to require a subscription so I bailed out. I realize I can cancel but I don't like the approach. I'll look for another product. Great video, as always, John.
Diet, exercise, and sleep are so important as you age. You don’t have to be a marathon runner or eats a restrictive diet. Making sure you get cardio 5-6 days a week along with some strength and resistance training 2-3 times a week make all the difference. I’ve found that using MyFitnessPal really helps me be aware of what i’m eating. Not to restrict but to let me know if I’ve consumed too much sodium or the bad fats on a given day. Or did I not get enough protein. Using some simple tools can be very beneficial.
Legend! All solid advice from a solid guy! Always enjoy these videos John! Happy belated birthday and have a great Memorial Day weekend. Looking forward to the next video
Thanks for this video. It was a nice to hear your advice that combined optimizing ones appearance with living a healthy lifestyle. Keep these videos coming!!
Exercise is number 1 there is no greater ager than obesity. Now imo hanging around younger people will make you feel younger and hanging around older people will make you start to embrace their negativity. Not necessarily 20 year olds or teens but younger than you
Great video, and just the kick in the pants i need to get back on the self care wagon. I can totally relate to having more years behind you, than in front of you. Living life to the fullest is my motto these days, and practicing good self care habits is a crucial part of that. Legend! and looking forward to the meet up. :)
First and foremost a belated B'day greetings to you and may the years head always bring good health, luck and prosperity. Tank you very much for you videos, John. Cheers!
Hey John. It may not be in your wheelhouse because you have great hair but how about a run down of stylish hats for summer that isn’t a baseball cap? Also what do you think of adding a vest/waistcoat think formal not puffer vest over a shirt? I saw a guy on the plane in Italy with an awesome vest and I can’t find anything like it.
Love your content and just a quick thank you for not going on and on advertising Tiege Hanley. Seems like every single lifestyle channel (men and now woman) advertises that stuff. A simple mention and link is totally appropriate.
Hello John. Legend...Happy birthday! You look awesome!! Thank you for this wonderful video. I liked each and every one of your advices. You are a great motivator and looking at you is very inspiring too. Always enjoy watching your videos. Have a wonderful week and thank you again! Looking forward to your next video. Stay safe and have fun! Cheers.
I'm 57 and work 12 hour night shifts. My wife and I are living in a room shop for a year while we're having a house built. I am NEVER able to get sleep!! A month ago I fell asleep at 70 mph while driving home in the morning and totaled my truck. Lol!! When I get in bed in the morning I will have been up for 28 hours. People...if you have someone who works night shifts in your life.... believe me....they need sleep, too!!!
Truly an informative video as always man, I’m in my 60ish climb. What can we do to minimize those eye bags that we hope are in a different spot in our body. 🎉happiest birthdate John.
Thank you for this video. This might be a bit of a challenge but can you do a video on choose hats please. Not caps, I mean real hats like fedoras, etc. What clothing goes good with them, what hair styles, etc.
6:10 You're right and wrong, I lost about 70 pounds with basic paleo/carvivore/wheat belly book diet, At 63 yrs old currently no medications, all systems function , blood pressure normal. I eat bacon nearly everyday, but I eat pancakes hardly at all - about 4 times a yr special circumstances - always gluten free
We're the same age! Congrats. I just finished with clear aligners and it was a breeze. Retinol & sunscreen are my potions. Friends and fitness are my new goals, and do to a health scare I might have to go vegan or something (sad face) but one step at a time.
Pancakes can be healthy, if you have time to make them from scratch with whole wheat flour and skip the sugar (you won't notice). Pair them with friut and don't go overboard with syrup. I prefer real maple syrup because it doesn't have any high fructose corn syrup.
Great video, women need a channel like this. Women are seriously slipping. In my opinion women have no idea how to transition in the manner you're speaking of. Keep up the great work 👍.

Thanks for watching! You got this! One foot in front of the other. :)
I went through a divorce. It does take you a while to get your MOJO back. You just have to believe in yourself. That is the key.
@whatwouldezrado Thank you, very much appreciated. I love this channel, always a good watch. Take care and
@40 Over Fashion Thanks John, onwards and upwards 👍

I agree staying open to new ideas keeps you interested in life rather than going down the what does it matter road

Great point! I have a lot of younger friends, and it’s absolutely true that they keep you feeling younger.
I disagree @noName-kn1lx
Age Defying Secret #1 is ... don't get married! 😂

You, sir, are a #legend
Thank you Tyler!
Thank you John you are a legend.
I’ve been on Just For Men Control GX for 5 years. It’s a shampoo which tones the greys down. I like the greys but it keeps them under control.
Thanks Nick!

If you're over 40 and definitely 50 and have long hair consider a shorter hairstyle . It will make you look years younger.
At 73 I feel fit and pretty energetic, I've found Alcohol saps my energy even in moderation. It changes how much I accomplish drastically.
I agree I don’t drink anymore. Theres no upside. A margarita costs 10-11 bucks plus tax and tip? Forget it much better ways to spend my time and money
Great tips! Happy Birthday 🎉🎉
Thank you Eduardo!
Great topic John!
Thank you!
Happy birthday John from Guatemala!!!!

Sounds delicious Jack! Thank you for commenting!
***number 1*** always wash your face in small circles GOING UP towards forehead. It helps prevent wrinkles and your skin falling off your jawline
I remember hearing something like this as a teen, and it has been with me every since 😅
Great reminder! That’s why you see women wash their face in a upward motion. They get it!
Great video, women need a channel like this.
Women are seriously slipping. In my opinion women have no idea how to transition in the manner you're speaking of.
Keep up the great work 👍.
Thank you! Will do!
I'm aging with dignity, yes I take care of my personal image but I'm more focused about being healthy, everything else is secondary.
Want to look younger? Ditch the scraggly gray beard and say goodbye to the grandpa look. You will look 10 years younger
Patience? I think we lose our patience as we get older 😅
How to hide dark circles under the eyes?
I like salt n pepper hir on mature men
I have no problem being and embracing my age (54). Yes, I don't want to look 80. I have no interest in looking younger. People need to get over it.
I have braces now, and I'm 46!
Yes! Love it!
Bacon is one of the best things you can eat. Try the Carnivore diet and see how good you feel. No more fruit and vegetables for me thank you.
💯
Also losing weight is equal to try quitting smoking.
Number 10, don't ever get married.
Great bit of content John!
Happy birthday!
Thank you, Gilberto!
