This is GLORIOUS. Thank you! That energetic John Tesh theme paired with those flashy 3D graphics were STELLAR in 1992! You don't know how happy this makes someone like me! You're the BEST!
The best part of the "NBA on NBC" intro has always been the very beginning when the lasers form the NBC peacock and the music dramatically builds up to "Roundball Rock".
You're hard pressed to find any better quality of the original laser peacock fanfare leading into Roundball Rock. This is amazing and I hope we hear this in 2025...
'Roundball Rock' by John Tesh & 'Sirius' by Alan Parsons Project were THE 2-song NBA soundtrack in the 90s. Tesh helped to glide you in to an afternoon of basketball, and Parsons Project reminded you that Michael Jordan was going to be the M.C. for the day. =) And yes, once 'Sirius' played, the Bulls already had a 20-point lead at the tip. XD
Should note, this version of Roundball Rock used on telecasts is different than the original track that everyone shares and that FOX is using for College Basketball. The original track is more repetitive. This version used on NBC for games and promos is the version everyone is seeking.
NBC was Definitely NBC whenever the NBA came on and that Peacock forming then you knew it was time for the NBC On NBC. Either way it was the best era in our time. We know we ain’t gonna see it again for the foreseeable future but it just brings our memories back when we were younger.
The third song of that powerful combo was Gary Glitter, Rock and Roll, Part I. I know he did reprehensible things, but the song still plays on my head when remembering the great battles of the '90s, especially during timeouts.
I will always love the NBA on NBC because it gave us the theory and it made us have our hoop dreams. NBA and NBC will likely to be reunited in 2025 when their current deal is done because they want better broadcasting.
