Hi Victor, First I need to say that Mariani are the best costume skates I have. Regarding the cost - for me it took like 4 misfit shelf boots untill I bought a costume and it changed everything. Suddenly as of my pronation and the fact that I made the boot with orthotics built in I suddenly could get into outer edges and not collapsing. So all in all for me making costumes is worth every penny and saved money for u fitted regular boots.
In my 40’s I was on indoor speed skating team. Tried a couple of off the shelf skates and finally custom Pinnacle skates, the Pinnacles are my all time favorite 👍👍👍. Now I am 59 a 11 years since competing or even skating and the good news is the Pinnacles are still going strong. I am going to try to get back into skating so let’s see what happens.
Hey I've seen that many skate companies have the option of semi-custom boots. Can I get your opinion on that because I'm not really sure if they are just standard boot or if they actually are more comfortable than the standard ones
Different brand have different approach like Simmons they have semi custom but it's mainly just the colors you choose and built on the same stock last and other brands like bont which I ride on you can choose the colors and add extra width choose how ur arch is to better fit you're foot and pinnacle is just colors too
Hey Victor! Thanks for making these videos. I have a question: how do you choose a custom boot manufacturer? My first customs were made by a person who has since retired, so I’m looking to know how to evaluate different custom makers. My feet are too messed up for standards. 😅
I have skate related deformation in my heels and a boney lump in my instep, I have to go to town with the heat molding to make my bonts fit. My next pair will be a custom for sure. Will you do any inline races this year? Or are your inlines just for training? Thanks for the video!
Hi Viktor! I've read online that all inline skates will get a little bigger/wider over time. The same happens with the speed ones? I ask because my foot is 250mm, and the table for the Powerblade Elite indicates max 250mm in size 39. Do you think the boot will expand few mm? Thank you!

How different is a custom made vs moldable skates

@@cap_patek1277 Well said! Most skates can be heat molded so they almost match a semi-custom :)

Best of luck with the customs! No competitive inlining for me until after the Beijing games... Then I'll be back competing on wheels again :)
Is inline speed skating there in Olympics
No.
@@thorupviktor Thank You for your reply
Hi, Viktor! Is it some kind if hockey stick tape on your boots to protect them from scratches?
It's part of the boot, but yes it's intended to protect against scratches :)
Is it possible to get regular recreational or fitness inline skates custom made? Who does this?
Not that I know of. Fitness skates are so soft, that I don't see a need for it.
