💬Plot summary:
Fan Xian grew up in a small town by the sea with his grandmother, following a sudden visit of a poison master, his peaceful life quickly morph into one filled with danger and hardship. After becoming rather skilled with medicine, poison and martial arts, he goes to the capital to find out more about his mysterious mother. He ends up on an adventure of marvelling the world, getting tangled in politics, finding true love, figuring out his purpose in life and secrets of his world.

This has been the funniest, most nerve wrecking keeping you at the edge of your seat episode to date. I love it. Again the characters and the acting is superb.
Fan Xian is such a social butterfly and managed to control himself when he had his hands around Royal Princess' neck.
I like how eccentric Second Prince's mother, the Prince himself and Fan Xian at the same time. I'd love to get a scene where all of them exchange poerty lines and discuss about life and beyond.
Lmao probably wouldnt get a lot of discussions done because Noble Consort Shu changes her subjects after 1 sentence 😂
She's not severe, she's neurodivergent. She's cute
Ruoyun is very attractive because of his stillness. He is listening and considering what he's hearing. And the way he stands and walks is strong, dignified and elegant. He looks regal.

Emm...actually in the ancient china (especially a feudal dynasty similar to the one in the drama), a) his father and mother would pick one for him when he was young as the "chief" "official" wife. It is always for political purposes. or b) there would be an organization regularly pick young girls for him from the whole country (normally his mother and he would decide whether the "picking" activity would be held or not), and he could decide the ones he likes. or c) the lieges would "send" him girls to flatter him. So the video shows the emperor has 4 wives, but actually he might have (or had) more with a high possibility... but these ones are the wives he likes most... Things may be changed due to dynasties' systems and emperors' personalities. Ooops this is sooooooooooo hard to explain in English. lol.

Again, this show love to use comedy to ease the tension prior to the tense moments to great effect.
The old old lady Empress Dowager doesn't like FX because she didn't like his mother I guess. FX's mother tried to change the system/social order and mostly the Emperor liked her - thus the old lady hated his mother --- and so dislike FX for no reason.
Fan Xian, sister, eunuch, and 2nd prince mom had me rotfl. I will b careful with Waner, the craziness may be hereditary. She tried to kill herself twice for not apparent reason.

I finally understood why he would say the Red Mansion is written by Mr. cao....it's bc he had the mind of the future and he already read the book but now he's in the past...mr cao is a historical person but since this "dynasty" happened before he was born, they wouldn't who he is. So technically he isn't lying, they just don't know mr. Cao cuz he wasn't born yet but fan xian knew him bc he read it when he was in the future lol and now brings it back to the past.

Love the subtle politics. Going to the favored (and related) upper concubine first is generally not polite. You great them by ranking: Dowager, Queen, then related upper concubines. So She had to ask about the Queen, but if there's a health related excuse from a Eunuch, you just hope the eunuch is on your side (he's on the emperor's side, usually) and you really aren't offending the queen.
I love the subtlety interspersed with all the comedy
Definitely not the type mothers you see in other palace movies!

The 2nd prince mother didn't need much airtime to make an outstanding impression of her acting abilities (deliciously good) Unfortunately, 98% of the OG's actors were great, things declined when FX traveled to Northern Qi, I only found one actor simply extraordinary.
