💬Plot summary:
Fan Xian grew up in a small town by the sea with his grandmother, following a sudden visit of a poison master, his peaceful life quickly morph into one filled with danger and hardship. After becoming rather skilled with medicine, poison and martial arts, he goes to the capital to find out more about his mysterious mother. He ends up on an adventure of marvelling the world, getting tangled in politics, finding true love, figuring out his purpose in life and secrets of his world.

This drama reminds me of Nirvana in Fire vibes! The story is good enough where I don't miss the romance. I feel like Fan Xian is what the lead in Nirvana in Fire would have been like before he was poisoned and fell ill.
Also my heroic husband, It is very funny. Mostly same actors 😃

Literally though, the leader of the Ministry is supporting Fan Xian and basically making him his heir, he’s on set to gain the Royal Treasury, the Chief Justice of the Overwatch council practically handed it over to him, and both princes are vying for his attention
the power of coming from the 21st century lakskdkfkfkf also spoiler alert but in the novel he opens the box his mother left and its a machine gun and manages to kill basically like a shit ton of people alkdkd

I love how Fan Xian is pretty much friends with both princes while at the same having chosen neither side. The second prince is my favorite; there's something about him that's really endearing. I'm also super excited because we're getting closer and closer to seeing XZ's character, and he just seems so serious and angsty, and I am living for it. Additionally, this drama should have comedy added to its genres because I feel like there's enough of it. :)

In fairness, he was not being framed he admitted the poem was not his when he was about to write it. He apologised to the owner of the poem on the day just before he wrote it. They want to use the truth of it to discredit and probably ruin him.
The line at 20:08 gets me every time I re-watch this drama, fan Xian telling Guo Baokun that he is becoming more like a biaach 😂😂 This drama is a masterpiece!

Gamer4Life it’s actually from the past. He is from the past and then ice age happen. That lasted for a super long time and human civilization had to restart. So the poems he recited were from the past. All the culture now are remnants from the past that were pass down into the future.

@Alan Shirohama yea I wont spoil anything cuz this is only the first season, there will be three and so yea I know the rest cuz I read the book but I'll give you this: the noble temple as you know it is basically like cryostasis where you get frozen and retain all of your memories and knowledge as well as preserving your body that's kinda what fan xians mother went through, and apparently fanxian was brought through as well with her IDK how the books don't address it so the tv show will have to come up with something

I have been watching Chinese TV for a while now, this show is by far the best written and acted of any. I ask the uploaders to please do a short video on 1. how you go about making the subs, show us the amount of work that actually is required. 2. a little info on the writers and producers, actors, Both of these to help viewers appreciate the uploads more.
I reccomend you watch some of the more mature modern dramas. A lot of cdramas that seem to be popular internationally are not necessarily the best of chinese cinema. Of course, there's still a load of crap dramas that pervades chinese tv meh

Very true. The closest thing to a modern drama I've seen yet are Nirvana in Fire and General's Lady. I LOVE historical costume cdramas. Zero interest in modern cdrama.

Wan xian is outrageously funny. 1 of the best shows I have seen that incorporates a comedic Genuis in it and it works good enough to not destroy the serious character of the show. Characters galore! My only criticism is on the silly romance parts.

Nope. Not reserved for mourning. Most poor/normal people wore white. Only people of status can wear colours. 白衣 Or white clothes also has a meaning of neutality in Chinese, as in pure or having nothing. Many scholars would have worn white.
