  • Using the Kubota B2601 Compact Tractor and my BECO Wood Chipper to chip the limbs of the maple tree we felled earlier in the week. I am really happy with the performance of that BECO woodchipper I picked up from Farmer Equipment Sales. Yup, I decided to buy it! Cheers! #woodchipper #kubotab2601 #compacttractor

    Grapple story. Today we’re driving in the lower peninsula of Michigan near the Mackinaw Bridge. We see several trees blown over in the median. My wife says “GP would love to come get them with his grapple.” Haha.

    Hi GP. I'm playing catch up on all your great videos, all are made with great quality and information. It's been roughly 3 years since you have had the chipper, have you had any issues with it? 3 years ago my lot was cut by a logger, 1 man and skidder, and where the tree dropped is where it was limbed. i want to be able to walk around my woods without tripping on the old limbs left behind. Seriously considering buying 1 for my needs, 15 acres to clean up. Thanks again GP

    GP great job the chipper is great i was wondering if you was going to keep it ! i thought you would !! when i was a kid my dad and gramps would cut wood all summer even if it was in the 100 by the end of the year they would have piles of branches every where and they be 15 to 20 feet high they cut for 3 familys ! take care and have a great week ! I don’t know about the clogging issue, but it’s better for your knives when you chip the wood green. They’ll stay sharp longer. Have fun with your new toy!

    Some think its a waste of money but a chipper is well worth the money when you have acreage with trees....just pushing the branches into a pile somewhere isnt the answer....you can do so much with the mulch.....well done.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You bet Don, you probably noticed in the background there are piles of old branches everywhere so it will make lots of chips for the trails I want to start making through the forest. Thanks and have a great week!

    I know you had fun chipping away at that Job. Lol. Why didn't some of those 3 inch branches make it into Fire Wood?

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good day Troy. I did indeed. :)) We don't burn anything less than about 3.5 inch. Generally that is the rule. Plus in this case, I purposely wanted to chip all the branches from the whole tree to see if it would do the entire job well - all sizes. And it did great. Thanks for the comment and question. Have a great week!

    I also have a Kubota B2601! The rear PTO HP on my Kubota B2601 is 19.5. What HP does that wood chipper require? That wood chipper looks like a 25 HP or more.

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good morning PorkChop! Nice! A fellow B2601 driver. Mine too. The chipper is a 4" that I purchased from Dave and Kevin at Farmer Equipment Sales here in Ontario. It requires a minimum of 16 HP to run and I believe the specs say it needs 30hp to reach maximum capacity (they have all the specs listed on their website of the same name). Not sure if you have watched some of the other videos I put out on it but in one video, I test different sizes (diameters) of limbs to see what it will cut with the B. I love this thing. I used it a lot all through the summer chipping green, as well as limbs that were piled for several years. Doesn't clog up with leaves or anything and I had no trouble ever with it so far. It will cut up to about 3 1/4" on my tractor and for me, that's all I need since we burn anything bigger than that. Hope it helps. Thanks for watching and for the question. Hope the B2601 is working out great for you. Cheers!

      @@GPOutdoors, thanks for the reply! After I commented, I watched your other videos and answered my own question. I have been looking at an equivalent chippers to purchase for my B2601 down here in the States. I am leaning toward an Echo Bear Cat CH45540. Thanks for all your great videos! I am learning a lot as a new tractor owner. Cheers!

    Most of that you're running through the chipper except for the very top ends of the branch that's usable firewood I'll burn that right up until 1st of January here in Maine during the day and then put the big stuff in at night more BTUs and the smaller against limbs than big log ends

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for sharing Dean. Here, pretty much anything smaller than the diameter of my arm we don't usually put on the wood stack. Nice to learn how other folks do things. Cheers and thanks !

    Did you end up purchasing the chipper GP? I'm seriously considering one for my place, ah - you said it at the end, have you tried it on any really dry branches? I have some stuff that has been sitting for 7-8 months

    • @GPOutdoors
      @GPOutdoors  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good morning Jim. Yes I have but only once. You probably noticed lots of piles of old branches in the background, so I was going to do another video on the old branches only and see how it goes. I understand that chipping new branches versus chipping older dry branches is different ( I honestly have not figured out why yet but I have seen it referenced in other people's videos). So far, love the unit. I will try to do the video on dry branches soon and post it for you. Cheers!!
