Just want to make another comment, I just gave birth to my second child 2 weeks ago. I ate lots of broccoli in the beginning (until I got tired of it) and took Omega-3 and folate supplements. I didn’t have preeclampsia this time around. I was in labor for 4 hours and delivered him in one push. Ladies keep your hopes high and take care of yourselves, you can do it!

@@alliazenenglis5176 I’m so sorry to hear that! I was diagnosed with preeclampsia during the labor of my first son which was completely unexpected. I took the supplements I mentioned above (*I’m not a medical professional and don’t advise anyone to take anything without talking to their doctor first*) and I tried to stay as stress free as possible. Look up the brewer pregnancy diet if you have preeclampsia or are at risk for it. It was designed by a doctor and used successfully with hundreds of patients. The most important factors they found for preventing preE as well as reducing preterm birth and low birth weight babies are 1. Getting enough nourishing (real food) calories. 2. Getting enough protein (min 80 grams, more if you already have pre-E). And 3. Salt food to taste Eating a variety of real food helps your body get all the minerals and nutrients it needs to keep blood volume up and the placenta healthy. If you are reading this and pregnant may God bless your pregnancy!
Thank you Melanie for a detailed explanation. During my first pregnancy I had preeclampsia, I had never heard of it before, had a premature deliver at 29 weeks… 8 years down the line my son is health all thanks to the almighty. I am planning on second child yet the fear holds me back… I hope following the diet prescribed by you would help not land in similar situations this time around … please wish me luck …

I hope these tips help any expecting mamas out there or anyone in general! •Lentils have the most folic acid, about 180mcg per half cup •Almond milk has twice as much calcium compared to regular milk and which can be MUCH easier to drink of you feeling bloated every day (like me!!) 450mg per cup •Grass-fed collagen peptides is an easy way to get a dense amount of protein to meet the protein recommendation. It's best to dissolve in a warm drink or in a small amount of warm water which you can pour into a cooler drink if you're wanting to drink something cooler. •Plain or greek yogurt is another great protein source, again, check the labels! I'm currently 6 months and this has been part of my daily regimen since the beginning. Of course do your own research, read the studies, and never stop asking questions :)
My doctor said only proven way to prevent is taking low dose aspirin and blood thinners for some people who have clotting disorders.
