Just wow love going back an watching this old school football ...... Go Vols an always love Peyton Manning # 16 Vol Fer Life... Best QB Ever The Old Barn # 3
Just to think this was just the start of the career of the greatest QB in NFL history Peyton Manning, I don't care how many titles some have he was the best. Todd Helton went on to be a great Major League Baseball player guess their destiny's were meant to be in this game.
It is wild to me the famous baseball player Todd Helton was the starter before the great Peyton Manning took over. I remember this season but I was only like 6 or 7 at the time.i have a feeling this is the moment Todd decided to stick to baseball.. Good decision bro
Todd Helton was not the only major league baseball player that played with the Rockies to play college football as a quarterback with a Manning. Seth Smith was Eli Manning's backup quarterback at Ole Miss. Smith and Helton were teammates for the Colorado Rockies.
Being from Colorado and having watched Todd Helton at Coors Field makes me realize that a lot of pro athletes could've gone pro and excel in another sport other than the sport they're in
@@jorgemarquez655 Totally fair. I was in high school when Elway retired. He was my idol growing up. If you want to see a two sport star...check out Bo Jackson. I feel like he is up there with the greatest athletes to ever live. Guy was phenomenal. (Deion Sanders wasn't too shabby of a two sport star himself)
Crazy when I think back those 3 were in the QB room! Helton big name for a while in the majors. I remember Peyton was my last pick cause Brandon had wheels and I was thinking as freshman??? Wow, guess that’s why I never coached football.😁 And I miss the peace of mind knowing that VOL defense was going to get stops.😏 I can’t believe I had forgotten how many turnovers their were in this game…….like a basketball stat.
Eric Moulds also went on to have a great career with the Bills. 3x pro bowler. And yall are sleeping on Helton being "great". He was a BEAST at Colorado.
Tennesee coaching lost them this game, and Hayden fumbling twice back to back like that.. All Peyton did was have them driving down the field all game. He throws 1 pick, and gets benched after throwing 2 TD's and 200yds.. Then comes back in and Hayden fumbles twice...
@@jasonejones77 I actually really like Peyton as a player and a person. Hes hilarious. Even though the comeback in Indy vs Bucs still hurts. It's more of a UF vs Tenn thing and nothing to do with Peyton. :)
@@jasonejones77 * Bama and Georgia were shells at the time, * 39-6 at TN and only won 2 games of significance and one of those was a 1 pt win over Auburn that lost 20-0 to Miss State at home 2 weeks earlier, * Threw only 1 TD in both Superbowls * only TN QB that has lost to Memphis * blah, blah. I think that peyton manning has a future in the NFL. He may even win some MVPs and a couple of Super Bowls.
Stay cringe jr.
Todd Helton getting hurt in this secured his trip to pro baseball!
He helped sell a lot of Coors beer!
Todd helton was a great baseball player for Colorado in mlb !
21:40 Peyton enters the game
Thanks!👏🏻

It's nice to see the"oranges"of Peyton Manning's career "you know the beginning"
It is. I don't see or hear any other players you may have heard of.

The JP game of the week...what memories.
Wow, it's great to recall the Sherrill years.

The cowbells produce a beautiful sound.
Pro Football Hall Of Famer Starting Quarterback Peyton Manning (1998-2015)
College Football Hall Of Fame Starting Quarterback Peyton Manning #16 (1994-1997)
Duh
The Description says it all... for both Todd Helton and Peyton Manning.

Todd was kind of 'meh' at UT as a QB; but, you're right. Brady was a very good baseball player, for instance.
...sort of funny to say that with John Elway also involved in Denver sports. Would have been a successful MLB if he had wanted to take that path.
@@jaygremillion thats true. I grew up watching Todd though. Elway retired when i was 4 so he was a little before my time

Dave Winfield was drafted by NBA, NFL and MLB

Helton limps off around the 19 minute mark and Peyton enters his first series at around 22 minutes.
Wonder if Helton knew right after that 77-yard TD pass that it was all over for him.
Todd Helton looking like Tebow
Lmaoo
At least Todd helton could play baseball pretty well actually
I was at this game lol
Those were the days. Jackie Sherrill was the perfect hire.
"dozens of touchdown passes," make that hundreds of td passe.
What a joy to watch a football game at MSU without those damn obnoxious bells.
57:43 wasn’t even a touchdown for real, kent didn’t maintain control through the catch! 🤣
Peyton comes in at 21:41
war eagle 🦅 🦅 Auburn gotta respect manning who won the 1997 sec championship
Fun fact. Tennessee won the national title the year after Peyton was drafted into the NFL.
Uh. Duh.

He took the reins, not the "reigns".
GBR!

Manning gets them to a 21-14 lead only to have the coaches put in the other freshman QB... he then promptly throws a pick.
The unfunny thing...an "old" football player is pretty much a young guy out in the real world.
How does it feel to be minipulated?
Why is Zion "I ate my way to the IL" Williamson included in this intro with legends like Shaq and Manning? Most overrated BB player in years.
What? Stop drinking dude.
WRONG. State had success against UF during those years.
That kid Taite for Miss St. sure did not have a career in the nfl. Horrible!
Never beat the Gators...
Awwww.... but he beat Bama,Georgia won 3 bowl games and an SEC title,5 MVPS,Two Super Bowls but you're right ;) He never beat Florida. 💓

He still never beat UF and Danny Wuerffel.
Heh heh.
You're bottom feeders in the East now with no QB.
Ah heh heh.
Yeah Wuerffel was great keeping the bench warm in the NFL 😂
Point.
