I grew up on my family’s ranch near a tiny town named Gunnison, CO. The ONLY day my dad would just relax, celebrate the new and watch college football. I think the year was 1971. I was only 5 years old. My dad was watching a game where one of the teams wore an orange T on their helmet and I saw a guy dressed like my favorite character, Daniel Boone. I asked my dad who that team was and he replied, “ That’s the University of Tennessee. The Tennessee Volunteers “. I became a Volunteer fan that very day! Thank you for this video! It really brings back a lot of very happy times of my youth!
I remember that Ole Miss game in 1969 when I was a freshman at UT. Steve Kiner told a newspaper “Archie Who” when asked about Archie Manning. The 38-0 loss was unexpected but figured the Kiner comment sparked Ole Miss. But UT is my team no matter what.
At around 2:30, number 75 was a family friend Dick Evey who went on to play with the Chicago Bears and Dick Butkus. Evey lived in Maryville and passed away early due to Alzheimer.
Nothing surprising about UGA choking in the last part of a game lol......Johnny was ripped off he should have won the Heisman instead they gave it to that hack from ND......

Should have hired Majors in 69. He would have recruited like mad here like he did at Pitt. Instead Bear Bryant ran the SEC.
