Great video Rick. Love watching your videos. I’m in the same boat as you with rinseless washes. I’ve tried it with Gyeons Eco as well. Just didn’t feel as satisfying to me as a foam cannon and bucket of suds. Maybe it’s just because I don’t fully know how to do a rinseless. I know I’m doing something wrong because I don’t feel the time saver. I’m going to keep trying tho and different products especially in winter months. But thank you for the enjoyment of watching you detail a car!
Honestly, I don't see the time savings either. If you go ahead a pre-foam it, rinse, then use the sponge in the bucket, the only place you are saying time is by not having to perform a final rinse. But, let's be honest, that saves about 3 minutes. I haven't completely turned my back on this method, but I just can't seem to find an instance where it makes more sense than conducting a traditional bucket wash.
@@RADGarage yeah. Either that or I’m doing something wrong lol. But I will experiment more with them over the winter as my garage isn’t set up for traditional washes YET. My winter project to finish garage. But maybe I’ll get better and more familiar with them.
You have hit on the number one factor and that is the space you're working in. It is a great alternative for those don't have a facility that can withstand a soapy, watery wash. Good luck with your winter garage projects. I have a few on them in mind as well.
@@RADGarage thank you. Good luck on your project as well. I hope you do a video on it. I’d love to see what ideas you do as seem like you have good ones based on your garage looks now.
Great video as always. What I've been doing for the couple of months is pre-foaming first, which removes the majority of dirt and then continue with the rinseless wash.
Was skeptical about rinseless washing first. But now it’s my go to on PAINT. Wheels and tires I still do traditional but on paint, rinseless is quick, easy and in my experience, just as good as a traditional wash. I finish cleaning my paint in less than 15 minutes and save water. Plus plus. I got the gallon DIY Detail rinseless a week ago.
The pure enjoyment of a tradition detail in my garage is always so satisfying to me. I have a hard time wrapping my head around a rinseless wash and have only performed that 3-4 times. I always scratch my head as what to do for the wheels. I do appreciate you being committed to your community during this unusual situation. As always, the music you include is soothing and relaxes me as you are meticulously cleaning your Audi. Thanks for all your videos, Rick. Your time spent editing is very much appreciated.

Under stringent water restrictions, you’re certainly going to feel compromised using a rinseless wash. RW’s seem to be much misunderstood and maligned in the comments here. I always feel like i can't get my carpeted wheel wells clean with a rinseless in winter with just my i.k. sprayer a bucket of Absolute and my wolf pack towels, so i feel the same about rinseless as you do,Rick. But it's good in a pinch!
I think the Audi looks great even though you didn't get a chance to do your normal wash process. 🙂 I'm looking at trying a rinseless wash for when the car just has a light coating of dust on it, and was wondering if a pump sprayer might be a more efficient method of pre-treating the surface? Using a spray bottle a lot makes my carpal tunnel flare up (hazards of being an IT geek). Hoping the city is able to get the break repaired sooner rather than later. Thanks for sharing, and have a great day!
Oh yeah, if you are performing this routine regularly, investing in a more efficient and convenient sprayer would be a smart idea. For me, this will be a one-time, possible two-time thing, so just using my Pressol was enough.
I agree with your opinion on rinseless/ waterless washes. I have a litre of Absolute and it is more than enough to have kicking around, especially for the enthusiast. I use it in between washes, mostly on door frames and sills to keep everything from becoming an over the top mess. I do find it good for cleaning up bird droppings and touch up from a cool overnight. I have been following the water issues on the news. Good luck and who gets to grab the shower first when the water comes back? 😂😂 Till the next one.
Luckily, we are “allowed” to shower! I will rely on rinseless only when absolutely necessary. A full RAD wash will happen the second the pipe is patched. I can guarantee it!
I think you will find rinseless more enjoyable when you have a pump sprayer, and a sponge designed for rinseless washing. Wheels is a hassle with rinseless, so I just do the front faces when doing rinseless, and take a deep clean when I do the full dance😅 I don’t have drainging in my garage, so do a quick pre-wash outside and finish with a rinseless inside is golden if it cold, windy or some rain.
That sounds like a viable strategy for you. I am fortunate that the “Full Dance” is something I am able to perform regularly once we have the water restrictions lifted, which should be within the week. 🫰
Yup, pump sprayer and sponge is definitely a must. And also if you have an electric spray or electric pump sprayer then HUGE plus. So much faster and easier with a sponge too. Contact, dunk in bucket, squeeze and continue on. I hated it first but now I’m a believer.

@RADGarage It's not the method that puts me off🤣 It's the lack of snow foam, sudsy bucket wash, tyre, and wheel cleaning. All make it pleasurable on a lazy Sunday morning. I just needed an excuse not to make even more purchases 🤣
Carzilla chris needs to sell you an ik sprayer ricky 😅.it probably would've made the experience a little better. Damn door dingers... Cool video, something new for you. Go, Oilers, go...
Pumping the Pressol didn't detract from my enjoyment of the process. I actually like that sprayer. What did detract from my overall enjoyment of the experience was the monotony of it. Not having 100% access to the wheels, wheel arches and tight body gaps left me underwhelmed. I get the rinseless method, and I don't pretend to be skilled at it, but it is not my preferred method of washing a car and I can't fathom using it to work on a car belonging to someone else. It just doesn't feel 100% complete to me. Not shade being thrown on those that do, but that's how I feel about it.
Hi Rick ! I guess this rinseless wash must have been a torture to you 😁 But yeah impossible to use regular process when you have that kind of major incident. I should consider giving it a try but I cannot imagine tackling dust and dirt with just a damp MF however plush it can be. I might be wrong but always reluctent. Great job though ,thanks to Gyeon products if I may say. Hope situation will soon come back to normal. Stay RAD Gregg
It’s definitely not my ideal process for cleaning my car, but it’s all I have at the moment. I’ll give it another shot with a different agent and I’ll try the Legacy sponge. I’m not excited about it, though.
Great video, this goes to show how good rinseless is when restrictions are in place and how important keeping infrastructure up to date is. Fingers crossed the crews working 24/7 to get the pipe repaired get it done as quickly as they can
We received a section of pipe from our friends in San Diego last night and crews are in the process of making the repairs. I think we are going to be fine in a week or so. For those who don't have access or the desire to conduct a bucket wash, I guess the rinseless is a viable and practical option, but for reasons stated in the video, it is not my preferred method of washing my car.
Rick, does Chris at Carzilla have a bone to pick with you, did you do something to offend him? He should have sold you Diy or ADS Rinseless, and a real rinseless wash sponge like the legacy. That plus an IK, and you wouldn’t be missing your foam cannon so much. Maybe see if your fellow Canadian, Ivan from Diy can drive over and show you a much more effective and safe way to wash.
I never concern myself with effectiveness and safety when performing my beloved mitt wash. I may give the DIY and ADS systems a try, but I’ll never adopt the rinseless method. It’s just not at all satisfying for me.
I personally think you were using the Rinseless Wash like your suds wash, too many passes on the same spot. If you had any debris in the towel, you were more likely to inflict damage. Microfibres should have been folded into squares and each side WIPED once across the paint. Flip the cloth to a new side and repeat. The Ex Optimum Guru once said that Microfibre Cloths are designed to trap dirt, while the ONR Sponges are designed to release debris. The Audi still came out looking great 👍
Yeah, I just did not have the patience to do it 100% the way I should. I had the towels sopping wet so hopefully that provided the lubricity necessary to prevent any damage. I am planning on re-coating this car in the next month or so, so it will be getting a full correction polish very soon.
Yes, I agree. Rinseless wash is just a marketing gimmick. While you save water, you end up spending more time washing the car. Additionally, it takes the fun out of washing the car. So, I had to dispose of the Optimum Rinseless Wash blue and green color products down the drain years ago.
I think enough people actually find the process satisfying so I will stop short of agreeing it is all marketing. We all have our own preferences, and mine is a traditional bucket wash with lots of soapy suds!
Rinse less is great. It’s been around for 30 plus years now. It’s a skill to be learned just like polishing. So it may take people a while to get the hang out it. Foam is fun, but that’s it. So you may ask what about a muddy truck or gritty winter car? Pre rinse, pressure wash it off. Then follow up your contact wash with rinse less. People will still stick to foam and 2 bucket methods and that’s fine. But for a professional detailer that runs a Mobile business? Rinse less is the way.
@@RADGarageWheels can still be tackled with rinse less. If they’re super bad, agitate with brush and pressure wash them off. Same thing with paint, if it’s to bad, pressure wash, pre spray rinse less, contact wash with rinse less, dry and your done.
Thanks Rick, you made my day 👍🏻. Can’t wait for the next video. Love the music scores by the way.

Hi Rick !
I guess this rinseless wash must have been a torture to you 😁
But yeah impossible to use regular process when you have that kind of major incident.
I should consider giving it a try but I cannot imagine tackling dust and dirt with just a damp MF however plush it can be.
I might be wrong but always reluctent.
Great job though ,thanks to Gyeon products if I may say.
Hope situation will soon come back to normal.
Stay RAD
Gregg
It’s definitely not my ideal process for cleaning my car, but it’s all I have at the moment. I’ll give it another shot with a different agent and I’ll try the Legacy sponge. I’m not excited about it, though.
@@RADGarage what about hosting DIY Detail Team for a Waterless Wash collaboration 😋
@@gregorypollet6106 Careful what you wish for! 😉
👍👍👏😊
Rick, rinseless is a skill, not a product, we will need to put this on our agenda.
If you can find a way to make it satisfying, I will hear you out!
Wouldve been easier to take the wheels off ..
Agreed!
Excellent job 👍 You're the only person that can make a rinseless video look sexy 😂😂
It wasn't easy.
Love foam but rinseless is legit. I spend a lot less time with rinseless. Especially from diy detail
@@MarcYanOfficialHow do tackle the wheels?
