There is absolutely no one else on this earth that can sing like this. Judith is a once in a lifetime lady. A beautiful woman on the inside and outside. God`s gift to music and to singing...
Brilliant music and singing from all four of them. You deserve all these raving comments dear Seekers. God bless you all for providing people like me with hours of sublime entertainment.
My goodness, what a glorious song , sung by the most beautiful voice I have ever heard! Anyone who can dislike this must really dislike life. Music like this makes me so appreciative of talent like Judith and the Boys! WOW , thank you. Tim in Midland, Texas
No doubt in my mind. I agree with you. Judith's voice is a gift from God. Right now tears are flowing. Why? It's Judith's voice and her singing it so well.
I am not usually one to get in the middle of a conversation, however, 500 years or 5 minutes ago ... does it matter? It is still a beautiful and tranquil song and thank the good lord we have a venue to listen and discuss ... "where all is calm forever ... on the shore of avalon". Peace to you my friends.
M Cooper: Indeed. It is good to share an interest and appreciation of the musical talents of The Seekers. I am very grateful they recorded these lovely melodies. Peace and blessings to you as well.
just discover this song randomly.. I didn't had the intuition that this song would bring me memories because I thought it was just an ordinary but I was wrong, so wrong.. the melodious tune gives me goosebumps.. so soothing to hear the angelic voice of Judith.. love the Seekers as long as I live.. God bless them !
Yes, with the passing of time, it is truly wonderful to hear this group is as good as ever and as for that wonderful voice of Judith Durham, one is moved to tears
Beautiful! Thank you Judith and The Seekers for giving me comfort today, and will for the rest of my life...Much needed this today. Judith had such a gift. A Song bird . Bless her. ....❤
I just can't get enough of Judith's voice . . . . Can't say it any better than all of you have. The Seekers are an incredible TALENT ! ! ! May The Lord continue to Smile upon them . . . .
It never ceases to amaze me when I listen to Judith Durham sing. Other singers, good singers put so much effort and energy into their songs, but Judith just stands there and with very little effort the music just flows out of her mouth. She is clearly the best singer of all time, and second place (probably Cynthia Clawson) is just sooooo far behind.
The simple yet sublime tune, sung beautifully by The Seekers, has been, by their rendition, crafted more into a hymn than song. This boat that I am rowing Will take you where I'm going To peaceful waters flowing On the shores of Avalon There lies within each troubled heart A special time and place apart No storm is ever raging On the shores of Avalon This boat that I am rowing Will take you where I'm going To peaceful waters flowing On the shores of Avalon Clear dreams shall always guide our eyes A ray of hope before us lies Where all is calm forever On the shores of Avalon This boat that I am rowing Will take you where I'm going To peaceful waters flowing On the shores of Avalon Where all is calm forever On the shores of Avalon To journey's end together On the shores of Avalon
Played at my sister's funeral as she left the church for her final journey. She was terminally ill and chose the song herself. Cannot say how many people asked as we filed out " What is that beautiful song? And who belongs to that glorious voice?"
wow i love that.she gives me good bumps.the music reminds me alot of our traditional celtic nova scotian music.i find it very refreshing.thanks for the post
Unique voice of Judith Durham fully encased by the harmonies of Athol, Keith and Bruce. Paradise it is that I am in. These people are so far out in front that they are almost out of sight. The fact that they have so many younger followers means that this wonderful melodic music will continue long after we and they are gone
To be able to hear so many recordings here on TH-cam by The Seekers and especially this incredible singer Judith Durham is absolutely wonderful. One thing bothers me enormously, though. On catch-up TV there are a huge number of videos available to watch of singers & groups dating back to the1950’s. Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Abba, Queen, The Bee Gees, Roy Orbison, Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter & hordes more of the biggest names in the history of pop music. Practically everyone loves The Seekers & Judith Durham especially. Very many people regard Judith Durham as the greatest ever vocalist in the history of recorded sound. Why then does catch-up TV have not one single video devoted to Judith Durham or The Seekers. IT MAKES NO SENSE TO MY MIND WHATSOEVER!!!.
What I love about them( beside the angelic voice of Judith) is that they never speed with their singing, complete every single phrase and don't bother about showbusiness rules
What a beautiful song.....it brings memory, like a smell of a flower that takes you back to childhood days....l often have dreams about such place,a beautiful peaceful place, hidden away from the world, but l always see it in a distance. This song really touches me.....and this lady sings it so beautiful.
Your music sweeps me back to my home town in the Ottawa Valley. We have grown old together and though I never got to hear your music until well into middle age, your voices have blessed me in the intervening years since. Though I am many miles from home now - across half a continent I often turn to the memories your songs evoke in me to lift my spirits and remind me that there is beauty and love in this angry world. I love you all!

I had the tremendous luck to hear this sung live in concert during their Future Road tour in 1997. I absolutely loved it then, and have been looking for it ever since.
Glorious and ever at their best, never heard it before but truly beautiful, well done Judith. Your melodious voice is so beautifully haunting. I am about to recommend you to a Scottish actor on his page

What I had to go through to get this CD.....Somebody on Amazon wanted $192.00 US for it and then reduced it down to $166.00...Finally was able to get it on E-Bay for $44.00 AU....Worth every dollar I paid for it.....What a wonderful group.....
Strange, when I heard The Seekers perform this song at their concert in Cardiff in 2000 Judith said that the tune was Welsh. Perhaps they first heard it in Wales or maybe it is one of those ancient melodies that turns up in many different cultures.
In the comments I have read on Judith Durham a number of people have mentioned Karen Carpenter. Karen was a wonderful singer with a beautiful voice, obviously, but neither she nor anyone else can be compared to Judith. The staggering beauty of Judith Durham’s voice and equally staggering talent as a vocalist are totally and utterly unique. Listening to this lady sing always makes me think maybe I am wrong about there being no God!.
Totally agree with you Frank. I was a big fan of the Carpenters and of Karen Carpenter's musical skills and her voice BUT there is no comparison with the voice of Judith Durham. .. cont. Such a range. Perfect diction. Never 'over sings' a song, as many do. With her partnership with 'the boys' as I call them, they uniquely compliment each other. However, it is Judith's amazing voice that glues it all together, and I doubt that 'the boys' would disagree. The loveliest thing is that (through it all) they have remained close friends to this day, and care about each other very much. That fact too, comes out in their music. A real delight to behold. ..cont. We are all blessed to have these recordings of The Seekers. They may never perform again (given Judith's serious health problems) but their music will never die. ... Back to Judith - adequate adjectives to describe her 'remarkable' voice and talent are not plentiful enough. There will NEVER be another voice quite like Judiths' ! 💞 🇭🇲 🎶🎵🎶 👍
@@Lyndell-P. It isn’t just the staggering beauty of her voice that I so love about Judith Durham. She has a talent for singing and instinctive feeling for the music that is astounding. Her voice just gets lighter and gentler as she ages. Amazing.
Such a beautiful song, it brings a feeling of peace and serenity to my mind, my heart and my soul. Judith's voice is truly a gift from God :)

For some reason, I think this song could be used on stuff like poverty ads. It has that sad effect that makes you want to help the world a bit more.
I believe it is an old traditional tune with words and arrangement by Durham/Guy/Kovac/Potger/Woodley
Don't know Kovac but the rest we know :-)
Their manager at the time, John Kovac. Died in 2005, aged 50.
