    Thanks for making this useful video❤️ but i dont understand what is difference between these two symbols pronunciation???

  • @otter013
    @otter013 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I know I’m late but: first, your pronunciation is awesome and you explain that very well. Just two things to consider on a linguistic (/nerd 🤓) level:
    For non-native English speakers who use IPA and most linguists (at least those who work with different languages), /r/ is not an American r. That’s the rolled r, e.g. in Spanish. The American/English internationally is known as /ɹ/ which can also turn into a /ɻ/.
    And: the sound is ONLY an /ɹ/. The /ɜɹ/ and /əɹ/ combinations do exist but so do other combos with vowels (e.g. /ɔɹ/ as in "bored“) and it’s two distinguished sounds. The reason why words like bird might seem like it’s *bɹd is because in American English, most people, like you, actually pronounce it /bɝd/ (the r is more of a timbre of the /ɜ/ than an individual sound). Depending on the region the sounds might be more separated but a true /bɜɹd/ is rare. This intertwining is a /ɜ/ phenomenon, though, because the sounds are formed similarly. You wouldn’t say *bɔəɹd or *bɔɜɹd.
    If you formed a true *bɹd, it would sound rather strange to you (or like you’re really tired/drunk), more so for words like perhaps. When English learners have no issue pronouncing the r, this can actually be the real struggle: using too little vowel or skipping it all together. So every individual is just right but it still sounds not-native because the balance is off.

    Thanks a lot for this great video! I am German and in the eleventh class, so there are 2 more years to go for my high school graduation :D
    My English may not be perfect, but in comparison to the majority of my classmates, it is extraordinary. However, my pronunciation is terrible and I am always embarrassed speaking English because my classmates are better in speaking, even though my generel English knowledge is better than theirs. But your Videos really help me pronounce the american r better, now I can make the sound quite easily, I just have to practice speaking it freely in full sentences☺

    This is absolutely the video that I've been looking for. This "r" sound of American English whether it's at the beginning of the word or at the end of it... God, I just love it!
    And I love speaking English with American accent.
    You know what? I have never seen anyone explain how to really master American accent. I mean yeah, there are lots of accent videos on youtube that people make but the way you do it is just so clear and full of examples.
    I am learning a lot from your videos.
    So I just wanna say thank you so much for doing this.
