I entered Rolex in (Avenida Liberdade) Lisbon - there is a huge 2 store boutique. They told me they do not sell anything. Just show. They proposed me to be recorded in some fake list. Went out of there and showed a mid finger to them. Headed to Omega and purchased amazing Seamaster SummerBlue! If Rolex think they can f'uk off people who are going to spend ~10K for watches - they are seriously wrong. Next time I will never buy Rolex. If I decide to buy high-end timepeases - Rolex will not be in the list. I will consider the wholly trinity :)
I've got the white version of this watch and I absolutely love it. I bought it on the bracelet, but quickly purchased the black OEM rubber strap. Recently put it back on the bracelet and I'm now loving that, too. And my wife thinks it's especially atractive on the bracelet. Nice photography, great review. Thank you!
Thank you for the support, i really appreciate it. Glad to hear that you enjoy your timepiece, incredible watch. I just saw it on a rubber strap, perfect for the summer.
People are losing interest in Rolex due to the experience...as you mentioned people walk into an Omega boutique try it on and walk out happy. You can't get that at Rolex these days, customer satisfaction is a missing component in relation to the Rolex brand.
I can't wrap my head around the fact that you still can't get a Rolex without a waiting list, even though it has 30% market share and almost 2 and a half more units sold than Omega. I guess the gray market and overall Rolex marketing did its job.
last year I entered a Rolex boutique and I said to the salesman "I want a Rolex" and he said "I want one too but I don't have one" I was surprised by the answer but of course I understood his joke and realized that even the salesmen are tired of repeating themselves that you won't be able to buy a Rolex right away, so they started making jokes at their own expense. And now I have to wait on some sort of list to buy a Rolex after a year or two. After a friendly chat with the seller I left and went to another boutique and after an hour I came out with an beautiful, british racing green IWC on my wrist. Good luck with Rolex.
That blue dial definitely is the best color way imo. It’s so dynamic in different lighting and it’s just the classic color. You definitely managed to capture the beauty of that dial. I own this watch and wear it everyday.
I got the blue dial some time ago, and love it. Recently, I switched the bracelet to the white rubber band (Paris 2024 limited edition), on deployment clasp, and it blew my mind! I was never a fan of rubber bands, but this is so much better looking than the standard blue one.
Great review I am a proud owner of the early Seamaster model 1997 automatic blows the Rolex out of the water for looks & wrist presence period the latest version's looks have not changed only the latest movement which is phenomenal my next Omega purchase will be the planet ocean all the best.
I got the prepredecessor of the current SMP back in 2008 and even back then it was a better bang for the buck than the Rolex Sub. Later when I was ready and willing to spend the money for a Sub I opted for a Planet Ocean Chronograph instead. It delivered even more bang for the buck due to its movement and craftsmanship. The current ones are a bit too large for my taste. The SMP was unique when it was one of the slimmest dive watches. Not it has the dimensions of the former Planet Ocean models and it takes away a lot of its former versatility.
I've always wanted a Seamaster but just never the right time atm for me 😢 ... I will buy one someday for the perfect everyday daily watch better than Rolex just because I would be too paranoid getting mugged in my city to wear one around town.
Owned it, twice and sold it twice. Now have a Submariner 126610LN abs the difference is night and day. It's so much comfortable the wrist. The Seamaster bravelet is so uncomfortable and sharp and the watch feels too heavy and bulky for general every day wear. Its very "sporty" looking as well so I found it didn't fit as a "do it all" watch. Don't get me wrong, it's a great watch - but I own the older pre-ceramic Seamaster which I much prefee.
Lots of people say the same thing about the seamaster bracelet, that is not the most comfortable, especially compared to the oyster bracelet. I agree that tha seamaster is slightly on the heavier side. Thanks for your comment, i really appreciate it. Cheers
I consider getting the Nekton version but before that, a couple of question to all SMP 300 owners here: 1) Are you happy with power reserve? Is it truly weekend-proof? 2) Does it really offer the master chronometer level timekeeping? Thnx a lot for your interest! 🙏
I've always tried to love the sea master but in person it's always a let down, Rolex, Tudor and Seiko as well just make the perfect dive watches with incredible bezel action. I think Omega's strengths is in their other watches and their sheer catalog of different models.
In my humble opinion, the Planet Ocean is kind a more of a tool watch with higher WR and larger size. I like the seamaster more cos it is more versatile
@@timepieceofart I have been a fan of the PO since its debut in 2005. I love every aspect of this watch, especially the ceramic and liquidmetal bezel, the clean ceramic dial and the bracelet. The weight, thickness and bulk are exactly what I am looking for. My second favorite is the Seiko MM300.
