    This came in my recommendations at the right time I have mocks on “The Great Gatsby” and “A Raisin in the sun” in a few weeks. Have you made a video on context for both “the great gatsby” and “a Raisin in in the sun”?

    5:47 could you please elaborate on “social/familial” what does that mean?

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! What I mean by this is whilst Gatsby’s dream is entirely based around himself and his own goals, whereas the dreams of the Younger family are all based around raising and lifting up the family as a whole.

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hope that that makes sense but I’m more than happy to help further 😁👍

    Hi guiglit. Do you mind helping me analyse this quote “god didn’t seem fit to give a black man nothing but dreams”

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So first of all it’s important it starts out with ‘god’ as if it’s predestined to happen and nothing they can do can change it. Also the way they reduce themselves down to race (‘black man’) plus the way it finishes with dreams suggests the character is torn between a fated life of misery yet always being able to dream, and in doing so suffering, with thoughts of a better life

      Oh no! What makes you say that? Just remember that what’s done now is done, you have tried your hardest and that’s all anyone can ask. Whatever happens I know you’ve tried and I’m proud of you 👍

    Also do you have a quote that shows the younger family losing hope of ever achieving the American dream?

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A possible one could be from Beneatha in Act 3 where she says ‘There isn't any real progress ... only one large circle that we march in.’

  • @abdisakumbi2281

    can you give me a qoute where water says he wants a liquor business?

    • @abdisakumbi2281
      @abdisakumbi2281 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      respond as fast as possible please!!!

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      ‘"Yeah. You see, this little liquor store we got in mind cost seventy-five thousand and we figured the initial investment on the place be 'bout thirty thousand, see. That be ten thousand each. Course, there's a couple of hundred you got to pay so's you don't spend your life just waiting for them clowns to let your license get approved .’
      It’s a little long but with a few alterations it should be what you need. Best of luck!

      @@GuigLit can you explain the meaning to pls

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course. This quote shows how Walter has not just found a liquor store to buy but he has also planned it out in terms of how much it will cost and what potential problems there might be.

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The use of words like ‘we’ and ‘each’ suggests he can’t do this alone and needs the help of others to succeed.

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Absolutely, would you like it to focus on plot, quotes, characters or something else more specific? Just want to make sure I make the best possible content 😊 👍

      @@GuigLit hii, ty for replying. could you make it around the characters moral compass? and how their experiences and generation have shaped them to think in a certain way? for example chris went to war so he feels that his father was wrong, however joe dosent feel the same because he believes he did it for his family. did that make sense? sorry for rambling

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not at all! The more information you give me the clearer my direction can be. I’ll look at context and morality in that case 👍 thank you for your comment and support!

    Can you please help me analyse this quote ASAP? It’s “let’s face it baby, your heritage is nothing but a bunch of raggedy-assed spirituals and grass huts

    • @stinky3031
      @stinky3031 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Guiglit please 🥲🥲

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So to start the use of the term “baby” deliberately diminishes and infantilises them

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also the pronoun ‘your’ in ‘your heritage’ demonstrates how they’re set apart and that it’s not a shared identity.

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Finally there’s a lot of terms used in a pejorative sense like ‘raggedy assed’ and ‘grass huts’, further diminishing their identity and roots.

    • @GuigLit
      @GuigLit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope that helps! Best of luck, my apologies for the delay I’m in the theatre this evening 😅
