Tell how to read the book
Romeo and Juliet
‘Let two more summers wither in their pride, ere we may think her ripe to be a bride.’ Said by Lord Capulet, this quote demonstrates his initially protective and caring nature towards Juliet.
please do inspector calls edquas
Will the theme be the seem for question 1 and 2
Yes 👍
Got this mock tommorow
Best of luck!!
hi, how do you hit AO4 within this unseen prose essay? As you've stated do not bring in other texts, what sort of things are relevant to ensure hitting the criteria?
You can also consider links within the text, so connections back to other points in the extract or links to broader genres or contexts.
thanks a lot
Can u get full mark on the reading questions with doing 5 point and evidence (PE) for 5 marker question and ten of them with one point evidence and explain (PEE) each for the ten marker question?! And what do you mean by strong mark is it like 7/10 or 3/5 ? Many thanks
can u do edexcel
Please create more videos for the English language. Your efforts are highly appreciated.
This is funny
Thank you!
You are right
Hello, great video Are we just supposed to use TABL in the introduction or throughout all the paragraphs?
Thank you so much! My advice is TABL only at the start. It’s a good way to set yourself up for the whole essay itself. You wouldn’t need to use it after that. Best of luck!
Thabks
A Christmas Carol
Scrooge in Stave Two - ‘the happiness he [Fezziwig] gives is quite as great as if it cost a fortune’. Here Scrooge, through the past, finally sees how happiness does not rely on wealth/richness.
Thanks a lot!!! Much better than my English teacher 😅
@wethan9569 you’re more than welcome! Always happy to help 😁 any problems you have I’m right here 👍
How would you start an essay with an extract? Would you study the extract first or start the essay using key moments from the text from the start to the end? Thanks!
@wethan9569 fantastic Q! I’ll provide a detailed answer to this in video form tomorrow
Lord of the Flies
‘Maybe there is a beast… maybe it's only us.’ This quote, spoken by Simon in chapter five, is one of the most significant in the novel because it encapsulates the novel's central theme: the inherent evil within human nature. The "beast" isn't a literal creature; it's a symbol for the savagery and violence that emerge as the boys' civility unravels. Simon's realisation is tragically ahead of its time, and the boys' inability to understand it ultimately leads to their descent into chaos.
@@GuigLit last question, how would you approach different quotes without looking at secondary sources? Like looking at a quote and then perhaps thinking about techniques or themes or links to other parts in the text? That’s the main problem I have… thanks!
@wethan9569 not at all! Keep them coming! So always make the quote the most important part and spend time analysing it for its own worth. Maybe add a few words as far as its location is concerned now and then but really stick to the quote and its impact in and of itself first 👍
@@GuigLit ok so talking about its techniques?
Macbeth
‘So foul and fair a day I have not seen’. Not only is it Macbeth’s first words (really important) BUT the words ‘fair’ and ‘foul’ immediately connect him to the Witches through their earlier comments in Act 1 Scene 1
Pov u go to a british secondary school and ur in drama
the great gatsby
“He [Gatsby] looked at her [Daisy] the way all girls want to be looked at”. This demonstrates Gatsby’s inherent desire for Daisy and that arguably he is in love with her instead of her money (though this is a debate throughout the entire novella)
I just started reading this in school
Bro said "rose tinted spectacles"
Is its gatsby desire for money and daisy, or the desire of that old money class that they represent?
I would argue both - the novel doesn’t make it necessarily clear that one is stronger than the other
Hi sir I actually do not get how the grade boundaries work i have changed the exam from aqa to eduqas and i want to sit the exam for November but i want to know how the grade boundaries works
Grade boundaries are like football league tables - the higher the top performers the greater the rewards. As November is often retake students it then means the thresholds tend to drop a bit
Can you post something like how to get full marks on each question i have searched alot but could not find one i only found your youtube channel so can you go through paper 1 and 2 and show us how to do them in order to get full marks
Hey I’m struggling with Alevel unseen poetry do you think it could be possible to make a video on it ? Thanks
Absolutely! I’ll get onto that 👍 can you please confirm the specification and paper so I know I’m working on the right thing
Could you do a video on paragraph structure for A-level Educas instead of AQA?
I’ll take a look and give it a try!
Thank you!!!
You’re welcome!
What about oxymoron and all of those techniques why i have never seen that on ur videos and i think all with this exam board is picking a quote and say something on that would get you a mark is that right?!
Put simply, techniques have their place and you would get marks for considering them but they aren’t nearly as important as range/coverage of quotes and getting to grips with the meaning itself. Feel free to use them but I strongly suggest treading carefully - they should cap off any point made and not be an end unto themselves
@@GuigLit would you get full marks just by picking a range of quotes and put their meanings alongside them ?!
@pampoone623 I would suggest it needs to be slightly more sophisticated than that - the key term in the mark scheme for top band on such a Q is ‘detailed analysis’. I think of it like ‘hurdles’ - tie up a quote with analysis and repeat, little and often. Coverage is vitally important
@pampoone623 hi! I think I replied to this in a separate comment? If I didn’t and I’m mistaken please let me know. Many thanks!
Is there any difference between aqa and eduqas and if i have done aqa gcse lang previously can i do eduqas and still apply to medicine? As i’m from manchester and this concerns me
Hi! So in terms of the examination papers there are differences but they’re slight. In terms of the qualifications they’re exactly the same so if you have a gcse already they’ll never know which exam board you studied under
@@GuigLit i appreciate it thank you so much
@pampoone623 you’re welcome! Thanks for your support!
Please turn off the bgm
Thank you. All future videos will have it removed/bgm turned way down
I have my Literature mock exam today, the other half of my AS level, and I am so glad for your channel, thank you so much! You deserve more subscribers :)
Ahhhh thank you so much! That means the world to me 😊 I’ll keep uploading and growing hopefully! 🙏 thank you for your support again.
Got trials tomorrow and realised that I was CLUELESS about half of the questions when reading through a past paper, this video helped massively. Thank you!!!!!
You’re so welcome! I hope it all went well for you! 👍
@@GuigLit honestly it went great, shocked myself with how much I wrote and the structure helped massively with getting lots of quotes in and stuff :)
@justsomeguywithafancymusta4542 superb!! Well done! I’m so pleased I’ve been of some help. Any advice/help this account is right here!
do you a walk through for this but blood brother???
Yes!!
is the theme in Q1 will always be the same in Q2?
Yes it will 👍
Thank you so much for this video, its so extremely useful!
You’re welcome!!! Best of luck!!
@@GuigLit Actually had the mock today and so many of your points came straight to the front of my mind which was a massive help so thank you!
@EddieDoesBrass ah no way! Excellent! I’m so pleased to hear that. I do hope it went well!!
Thank you so much! Been procrastinating on an English essay and some of these quotes and analyses have been really helpful :D
You’re more than welcome! Happy to hear I helped 😁 best of luck with it!!
What do you think about Tom's love to Daisy ?
Just seen this! So sorry for the delay!! Tom’s love for Daisy is largely performative and superficial, only promising to change his ways in chapter 7. The pearl necklace given to her on the wedding day is a strong symbol of his control and figurative ownership of her
Hi, I'm a GCSE student going into OCR English Literature. Could I potentially request analysis of "The Grapes of Wrath", "A Dolls House" and "OCR Christina Rossetti selected poems"?
Absolutely! Are there any specific points you’d like me to cover or just plot, characters etc?
@@GuigLit I was thinking just the general stuff, as there are very little resources for The Grapes of Wrath and the Rossetti poems especially
I’ll start with those then 👍 thank you!
I have exam in two hours
Good luck!
hi i have the exam tomorrow do i have to answer both questions in section B paper 2 ?
thank you so much! I’m now ready for my exam tomorrow. You already helped me with the first paper and now I’m ready to smash the second! thank you again!!
You’re so welcome! I hope it all went well 😊
Can you clarify, for Q2 you stated 8 points but on your sample answer there is 4 points. Also, what grade is this video aimed for, and what else can be done to aim higher?
Hi for component two there is a question where you don’t use quotes from the text to support your answer. Which question is that , Thank you
are you talking about question 5?
Had to watch the video twice because first time i was lost in your voice 😭😩
Thank you for the compliment!
bro i have test and there is a question to write a discriptive writing the word limit is 300 but i am abble to right 100 words then i ran out of ideas what can i do
The trick is to go further with your idea - describe each one in more detail. Imagine you’re explaining this to someone who can’t see it, just take it further
What do you mean when you say embed the quotes in. sometimes i analyse too much.
So make it sound as though they are part of the sentence rather than ‘this is shown in the quote…’
Hi could u pls make a video Abt Life Class and War Poetry, for A levels?
that’s a great guarantee
My exam is today 😢 Wish me luck!🥰
How am I only reading this now! I’m so sorry!! I hope you had every success with it! 🙏
@@GuigLit yesss. Thank you 😊
Amazing! You’re welcome
This has really helped going to sit the paper in half an hourr
I hope it all went well!!!
I'm doing my exam today I hope I'll pass it
I hope you did! 🤞
