Oh yes even before the changes, I never really felt like damage boost was the reason I win unless my dps are good. The 45hps on ppl above half feels really awful though especially if the other healer is dead.
i love this commentary!! i learn more about my playstyle through it!! 💗 i wluld have tried to rez genji and i would have valked af 3:10 too but that says a lot about me 💀 i want all the rezzes and i dont play as selfishly as i probably should be 😮💨 KEEP IT UP SKI ✨️💛🍯
im really conflicted about the mercy changes, sometimes i feel its a buff and sometimes its a nerf. however she is clunkier to play but with the new healing changes she feels really more game changing than before
I feel like it's more of a nerf because most of her skill expression was in GA. The new healing can be good but it also took away from healing ppl who are not critical so I don't really think it helped her as much, like she only does 12.5 more hps than before if someone is critical but when ppl aren't critical her healing is pretty tacky feeling to me.
@quriguess she’s easier now to play. wtf are you talking about? Her healing is way more substantial and can do a lot more and since GA is on a longer cooldown, she’s less inclined to be part of the fight so she just sits back and damage boosts. It sounds like you don’t have much of an understanding about Mercy, how she was played prior to the changes, and especially how she’s played after the changes.
This honestly made me feel so much better about my particularly high healing games, lately I’ve felt that I haven’t been playing Mercy and haven’t used her Damage Beam enough but seeing that seemingly everyone else has been getting much higher heals makes me feel better! This video was super educational and I feel like the more I watch your videos the better I feel about my gameplay!
I'm a big damage boost advocate (you should definitely be making proper use of it!) but it's important to know when healing can be the difference maker like it was in this game :>
I've been having quite a few games like this, even in QP. I love her new healing changes, and it hasn't affected my damage boost too much. I usually play with an Ana (my friend) so we've worked out a really good healing flow with the new changes. Excellent commentary as per usual, Ski
When I started playing mercy in 2017 I was so bad with her. Your videos are literally the only things that helped me improve and adapt to each change Shes been through Your mercy guide from a few years ago to be exact. I love how open minded you are about it (or try to be) even though it may suck. Continuing to watch your gameplay and listen to your commentary is still helping me to improve even to right now and I really thank you for it.
That's so wild to think about! Thank you and I'm so glad I've been able to help you throughout any changes Mercy has gotten so far and with improving at playing her! 💛
I just stumbled into this video and I’m amazed how full of information and education it is, and yet it’s not stressful or overwhelming. The way she explains it all makes it look.. not easy, but not impossible and discouraging that I could never be remotely competent. I need to find a channel doing this for kiriko I could learn so much
I don't know why, but there is something so fun for me in playing as mercy with a genji. it's like playing a lucio and being the only one alive with your tank, kind of a dangerous but fun adventure for both of you.
Great video! In the first part, you mentioned about with the GA 2.5 sec cool down that it's more difficult/annoying to keep up with Genji. I have really struggled with being grounded a bit more and struggle to support really high mobility players anymore like Tracer or the hacker hero (forgot her name! 😅), do you have any tips on how to keep up with them since the increase in GA cool down?
Tracer and Sombra aren't that pocketable and mostly rely on themselves/health packs for survival. If they pass you and need some healing or if DMG boosting them can help them finish off a kill then go for it and help them but I wouldn't go out of my way to support them unless they REALLY needed it. As for other mobile heroes like Genji, it can be difficult with the GA change now but watch for when they use their cooldowns so you can make sure you have GA to use to follow them and try to predict where they're planning on going so you can be more prepared
@@Skiesti This explains it perfectly and really does helps! I appreciate it, thank you so much, I'll stop trying to follow them around so much and just help them as/when I can. I've been left as a sitting duck too much against the enemy team with a GA cool down when they have used their movement abilities and left me 😅
4:28 If you're confused on how Sigma died by nothing then I'm 99% sure Sigma died to his own balls as Sigma can deal a very small amount of dmg to himself and because he got the final blow on himself the death notification showed no-one killing him.
yeah new mercy is more of a healer than a dps pocket, i think they changed her because of how op some of the combos were (pharmercy, ashe mercy, echo mercy) and now u cant be hard stuck to them and you need to also heal your tank to enable your passive which is very nice for me cuz i hate to be a pocket bot, so yeah mercy healing > mercy pocket botting now :)
before she was just stuck to a dps and flies to them whenever she gets hit, now you are forced to heal your team and position carefully for the ga cooldown, they kinda fixed how cancerous she was with pocket
I love these commentary vids! Sometimes my mind does it on its own like 'I'm helping Sig as Ana is respawning, but as I do this Genji sadly dies...' I honestly don't know if this is helping or hurting my gameplay, 😢
Thank you! Also it's good to make observations during the game but while you're making those observations, try to recognize if you could have prevented certain things or what you can do to make up for deaths or things like that :>
Staying alive is literally SO important, but so is knowing when it back up and regroup. It can be so difficult to get that point across but thankfully you don't have to follow or support bad decision making!
The Official Unwarrented and (mostly) Legal Tip Guide for Mercy Players; Tip #861: DON'T become a retrofitted stumble button! When your whole team dies and you're all alone and definitely won't survive a trip back, don't just stand in front of the enemy to feed. With the uptmost care and your absolute best aim, aggressively shoot at the enemies skulls like the wasp you were born to be! This will ensure they kill you quickly. Stay Tuned till next time where we will be discussing BDSM! (Bastion, DVA, Sojourn, Mercy)
sorry but how do you open this kind of menu idk 9:55? wish i could check the controllers.. like she did at the bottom right? (sorry if im writing something wrong, english is not my first language and idk some terms she’s using :/ )
I know focusing too much on numbers isnt the way to go, but I wonder, how much is my healing/dmg amplified output dependent on the skill of my team and the enemy team? My assumption is that since I'm pretty much bronze/silver skill-wise, and so should be my team and enemies, expecting a lot of heal and damage amplified wouldn't make much sense. Usually I end most games with around 1300-1800 dmg amplified and 10k heal. What do you think? ps. really enjoying your commentary videos, they are not only a great learning resource, but also good entertainment. :)
i was literally just thinking about this! i'm assuming that higher elo games just mean higher damage output since people can actually hit their shots, which in turn means higher healing output?
Some games I have such a high damage boost uptime but low Amp and high healing. I play in GM1 right now and I feel like some matches are just way easier to get damage Amp than others, honestly a lot of my games I'm feeling like ppl spread out and need healing all the time so I really hate the mercy changes still.
@@_kolby I definitely think so. Mid competitive vs quickplay, there's definitely a lot more deadly dps going on, lots more damage happening, lots more to heal. Bigger numbers all around.
the stat you should be looking at is beam percentages not necessarily specific numbers. now of course every game is different but typically you should only have about 40-50% healing beam usage unless of course you are playing with a Zen or Lucio who are making you heal more. if you have matches where you don't have to constantly heal but you still have like 80% healing beam then you aren't using your dmg boost enough
I try to make my beams 50/50 but it doesn’t always work because of intense moments in it, BUT I like how your % on damage boost can go up without them doing damage (It doesn’t work on healing beam though, They have to be actually be hurt)
Great gameplay!! 😍 after playing new Mercy for a while, now I really like the new healing! It feels so impactful 🥰 the GA nerf does get me sometimes, but oh well 🤷♀️ love your commentary videos ❤️
i think im a pretty decent mercy and i watch a ton of skiestis videos to improve i just think i struggle with my positioning a lot and dont know how to get better. its not that im always in the wrong position, just im always putting myself in a lot of danger to protect my teammates and i end up dying and then they die as well.. does anyone have tips lol
It’s been rough this season for me because they gutted sombra, they made mercy a lot less fun and playing against a ball or tracer is a nightmare, sym isn’t as good because ball is meta, junkerqueen i either get perma anti’d or perma discorded. So all the characters I play are either not very fun or just not viable. I do get immense satisfaction from playing sombra into ball but that’s a different story
I'm not normally a Mercy player, but since these recent changes I feel like she's a lot more clunky and difficult to play. It made my already bad Mercy into a throw pick!
Also, I really appreciate in how you explain and really go in depth with your decision making, really helps with my bad decision making🥴 plz do more 🙏🏻✨
Unpopular opinion i like mercy’s new changes I think it makes you really need to think about what your doing when your position I feel like it still could use a small boost but I’m adjusting
Okay Skiesti, I feel the nerf is still very bad but I feel like it’s forced me to play much safer which leads to lesser deaths? Idk, the fun factor isn’t there, but I feel like I’m much more aware of when it’s appropriate to GA. My honest thoughts regarding the healing changes is honestly really positive. I still don’t like the regen she had before, but besides that, I feel like I can impact a lot more. I know that Mercy is not a healer, and I should always prioritize dmg boost, but I feel like so much more impact when I’m pocketing someone. The other day I was able to save my team from a nano blade, by popping valk and continuously healing until I could push dmg boost; and I felt like that was not possible before. I just feel so much more impactful. I’m commenting this because I’m afraid I’ll be torn to shred by other Mercy mains, but I feel safe commenting here. I have one question I struggle with tho, often times I notice I heal more which leads to me getting more heal on the scoreboards compared to by 2nd support like Ana or Kiriko. I still try to only push damage boost, and I make sure to not touch tanks, especially for Ana. But I find myself having to heal more, so I worry I’m taking ult charge from my 2nd support. Is there anything that I’m doing wrong in situations like that?
This game was pretty intense! Have y'all been having games like this since Mercy's new changes? 👀
yes but i always feel so guilty bc i think i always need to have 70/30 db and healing 💔

It's a buff and a nerf. Healing changes are a buff, GA changes are a nerf, and the passive is.... Sort of both because it feels quite situational

Yeaaaah it was not the easiest but we adapted and made it work :>
Great commentary! Its nice to see she can keep up with heals so well when she needs to
She definitely can when she needs to, that increased healing under half health is nothing to sneeze at
