I know that's not really an important game in the series, but there's literally a scene of Bowser calling Bowser Jr. to make sure he's ok, and that he's not throwing parties.

It's kinda sad yet beautiful that sunshine is what jumpstarted Bowser's quest to be a better father. Also, I have a feeling one day Bowser may quit being evil for the sake of Jr. But that's just me.
I like to think Bowser has a Megamind syndrome where he started kidnapping peach for a reason but as the years went on he enjoyed his battles with Mario more and more even though he almost always lost. If he ever did finally burn him to a crisp he would celebrate for a week, conquer the mushroom kingdom, and then be miserable because he misses the good old days.

My fellow Nintendo fans, we finally got the whole story of why Bowser’s been doing this stupid kidnapping sh$t for decades. I mean we knew already for years why, but to hear it between him and his son was just the cherry on top. At this point, I wish Mario had a new villain at times in his games. It’s always Bowser this, Bowser that. I get Bowser is his main enemy, but usually heroes have much more main enemies.
We got someone different in Super Mario Brothers 2, but that's primarily because the Japanese release on the Famicom Disk System had so much bullshit in it that we got a totally different game on NES than on Famicom.

The alternative is that Peach is manipulating Bowser into giving her what she wants and leading him on and possibly withholding affection in order to string him along. And that would make Peach a class A mega bitch and wouldn't really fit with the tone of the games.

I like to think Bowser has a Megamind syndrome where he started kidnapping peach for a reason but as the years went on he enjoyed his battles with Mario more and more even though he almost always lost. If he ever did finally burn him to a crisp he would celebrate for a week, conquer the mushroom kingdom, and then be miserable because he misses the good old days.

My fellow Nintendo fans, we finally got the whole story of why Bowser’s been doing this stupid kidnapping sh$t for decades. I mean we knew already for years why, but to hear it between him and his son was just the cherry on top. At this point, I wish Mario had a new villain at times in his games. It’s always Bowser this, Bowser that. I get Bowser is his main enemy, but usually heroes have much more main enemies.
We got someone different in Super Mario Brothers 2, but that's primarily because the Japanese release on the Famicom Disk System had so much bullshit in it that we got a totally different game on NES than on Famicom.
