  • This week I made an electronic jam on the MPC Live 2! Even threw some vocals in there at the end with the built in vocal tuner and reverb. Really enjoying this machine. First video I've edited on the M1 Pro MacBook Pro 16 as well, a dream to edit with. Thank you to my Patrons: Tempest Anderson, ipodmypants, SIGMATA, Cutestory, Derik Taylor. Dang this sounds absolutely fantastic. This is the first video I'm finding that does actual songwriting and it kinda makes me want to sell my other gear and go MPC. That initial loop was full perfection

    Great use of instruments. Can't believe Ive had my MPC for over a year and didn't know Hype, Mellotron were available to download. Needed to check out what they do as I wait for them to download and this is a great demonstration

    Finally, a video that shows what this machine can do, outside of hiphop/dance. That first loop is sweet as - Could literally listen to it all day long. You've just given Akai a sale from me!

    I am a new MPC User and have struggled with the workflow, one thing I picked up on in this video that helped me was that you started with a harmony idea and built on that...I have always started with the drums and was wondering why all my compositions sounded the same. Well, now I know why! This is a music "rut buster" video! I am going to fire up the MPC ONE tonight and change my approach. I will find a sound that inspires my to play and start with that! I have no idea why this did not occur to me sooner....Thank you for this video!!

    Nice jam!
    I totally feel that first loop you made. I'd put that on repeat all night.
    Even started up the Subsequent 37 and jammed along.
    And I think this visual composition works well too with the diagonal layout and good screen visibility.
    Finally: the MPC actually sounds quite good.
    It is a tad less warmer than the 707 maybe, but I really liked this one.
    Somehow I feel the MPC is a keeper for you.
    It is still flirting with mee too and I'm not sure if I can be faithful and monogamous much longer, or have to cheat on the 707 and add another woman to the table.
    PS, I do envy your MBP.......

    • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man! Yeah the new synth sounds with the Hype engine really push the MPC Live 2 into MC 707 sound quality territory. I still miss the zencore in a box that you get with the 707. Moving forward I'm trying to just keep the gear I buy so I'm hopeful the Live 2 will stick around for a while!
      And yeah man, the MBP M1 Pro 16 is the coolest computer I've ever used. Would recommend.

      @@DylanParisMusic Stick with it for at least 50 finished projects (jams, sessions, tracks whatever) I name them 01-dnb etc, so I can keep track of my progress. Just started project 30 😃
      I’m still learning new tricks on my 707 and only after so many months of jamming and exploring, I can really achieve what I want without thinking too much (maybe I’m a slow learner, but I think it pays to dive deep, not far)
      If I would have the budget and more reason to buy a new MBP, I would for sure.

      @ I have the MC-707 and a MPC One controlling my outboard synths. The MPC is much better at controlling outboard synths. I'm going to upgrade to the Live ll for portability but keeping the One too. If you use a USB hub is even better. The MPC will recognize whatever synths plugged into the hub and you can sequence it.

      @@DylanParisMusic I'm on 2.10 but after I did the upgraded. I turned my mpc back on standalone mode and the first thing that popped up was "you need to download synth content" I'm wondering if maybe Hype was in there. • @DylanParisMusic
      @DylanParisMusic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Thahyst Found this on reddit for you:
      Full step-by-step to install the new plugins on your MPC (AFTER you have updated the firmware):
      Go to your Akai membership page.
      Go to Firmware > MPC 2.10 Firmware Update, then click the link "MPC 2.10 Synth Content" to download the Zip archive.
      Extract the Zip archive's contents to your computer.
      Copy the "Synths" folder from that archive to the root of any external storage for your MPC (ideally something that will be installed long-term, like an SD card, or SSD for MPC Live II).
      Open the Plugin menu for a track. You should see the new plugins listed (if not visible, try restarting the MPC).
