    Dammit, C.C., Everytime I watch your videos my blood pressure goes up! Now I'm gonna be awake all night trying to breathe right so I don't catch a stroke! Do you know how hard it is to fish when you get a stroke? I bet my eyes will go cross eyed and I'll think I got a double hook up. My arm will start twitching all over and the people next to me will wonder why I'm constantly setting the hook! Hell, some of them will wonder why I'm breathing so hard - uhhh, that's normal but I'm trying to be dramatic here. Seriously though, Another awesome video from the great C.C. Cory! Keep Chasing Wild Brother! ; )

    Awesome catches. I'm in SW Fl and the Tarpon are showing up. I hooked one on a Pinfish the other day by accident. I'm going to target them now. When you troll for Tarpon are you just moving a little at a slow speed and then pause for a while or are you actually on a continual troll?

    Probably the most beautiful fish out there! Fantastic footage as always. Will the mullet still be running in mid november? I'll be doing some saltwater fishing in St. Augustine then.

      The run will be over! But they'll still be a few mullet around! The Tarpon will probably be gone except for a few small ones! But the Redfish will be on fire! Thanks for watching OLA and good luck on your St. Augustine trip!

    Are you anchoring after hooking the fish or were you already anchored? What size hook was you using for those big live mullet?

    • @TheNorthFloridaAngler
      @TheNorthFloridaAngler  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trolling! Then throwing out the anchor after getting hooked up! 10 ot. hooks!

    Beautiful fish. We're you right next to the fort? I love fishing that area. Trying to pick up some pointers from you so that I can start catching monsters too. Great videos!!!

      Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching! Yes! The first fish came from there! The Tarpon were feeding on a huge school of mullet that they had pined up against that sandbar!

    Do you try and go with the current or against the current when slow trolling for them? What speed do you target?

  • @JimMFishing
    @JimMFishing 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well done, CC. Very nice fights on those monsters, and some great jumps too. I know you start out slow trolling the mullet but seems you are anchored during the fights. Any particular reason not to stay adrift?

    • @TheNorthFloridaAngler

      Thanks Jim! Good question! After a few heart breaking losses using my standard spinning tackle where I would chase the fish I decided to go to a large conventional reel with a heavy rod and heavy line. The heavy tackle helped me keep the fish from getting so far away. If I happened to be in a relatively open area when I hooked up I would toss the anchor over and this would allow me to put maximum pressure on the fish. If I hooked one in a bad area with a bunch of boat docks and moored sail boats I would loosen the drag way down and follow the fish and try and guide him through the dangerous area until it opened up. Then I would toss the anchor over tighten my drag back up and get on em! This approach has allowed me to land 8 out of the last 10 Tarpon I've hooked! If I would have continued to use my standard beach tackle I would have lost most of those fish to the various structures in the area or been spooled if I tossed over the anchor! I hope these videos and tips will help you Jim on your quest for that monster Tarpon! Tight lines and good luck man!

    Hey CC, sweet fish! Got a question. When you tarpon fish in St Aug, in and around the inlet and bridges, do you generally see them and then fish for them? Or anchor up and just sort of hope they're there? Going to try to get on my first tarpon action this summer and trying to learn. Thanks.

    • @TheNorthFloridaAngler
      @TheNorthFloridaAngler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to get back to you so late Tim C but I don't go and check the comments on my older videos that often. But to your question I would rather see where the tarpon are most of the time before I set up. If I can't find any rolling or feeding I do have places where I will set up and fish blind.
