Thank you for making this video! My fridge and switch are almost exactly the same and this video was just what I needed to know to swap out the old part.
Usually I never think twice abwt trying to fix something that’s stop working, but was reluctant to open switch ! But after your video sorted it in 10 minutes 👏🏽Fnx
The change is simple but pulling the switch will be a little challenging. I used a plastic putty knife to protect the finish on the refer. I then used a second metal putty knife to pry the switch out. The rest was easy
2 month old Amana refrigerator door light switch in same place. So stupid, no other way to put it especially if you have children. Repairman was at our home this morning, ours cannot be repaired. The repair switch will not fit our refrigerator… I hope everyone researchs this please do not buy a refrigerator with the switch on the side. We have a 28-year-old Amana with the switch on top. It still works great never had a problem.
You’re joking, right because the easiest thing to do would be just unplug the plug rather than walk outside your house open up the electrical panel turn off the circuit breaker. I don’t know anybody who thinks it would be easier to walk all the way outside and do all that work rather than just reach over 6 inches pull out the plug and start working.
Just opened mine up. There’s two sets of contacts. One set covered in black soot and the contact nub was worn down from arcing. I can only assume this set of contacts is directly interrupting the 120V AC power going to the light. The other set of contacts looked like new still. I would assume these are switching a low voltage signal, telling the compressor to stop running while the door is open
I opened the switch as well and saw the same thing as damon. I cleaned the soot off of the one set and then swapped the two sets of contacts around. I expect this fix to last the rest of the life of the fridge or at least the next 13 years, whichever comes first.
I was wondering the same thing. Me I know why my switch isn't working. My elbow shattered the flimsy piece of Sh¡t. I'm curious to know why the guy in the video switch didn't work. I don't think he had a clue.
Thanks for this video. The spatula trick worked perfectly. Took less than a minute to make the “switch.”

It worked! Never thought of changing the switch would be so easy. Thank you so much!
This is what I needed to fix my fridge light on my own! Thanks for posting!!!!
This is a very helpful video, thanks! Our Kenmore fridge switch looks just like this.
Just what the doctor orderd!! Thanks for the video, kept the wife off my back.

1:44-1:46: I can't do this, I've tried for almost an hour. The switch just won't come off. What am I doing wrong? The switch is a PS102-21
These must have been the shiniest switches ever made, look at the number of views! Same problem, thank you!
Thank you very much for your video I would not have ventured to try this otherwise!
Thanks for your video. It was very helpful 🙏
we have titles, even my mother thats small could move the fridge out to turn it off from the power point, no need to deal with the breaker

Thank you for your help, it is so useful
Where can I buy this part?
Really nice video thanks
Doesn't work for me. I had to break the switch into many little pieces to get it out.
saludos desde venezuela
Thank u so much for this
Why would you turn off the breaker when you could just unplug the fridge much easier
Maybe he has to pull out the giant heavy fridge to get to the plug, then walking up to a box on the wall is easier. Duh!

it would be much easier to remove if they made it like a lego part...
Shittiest… auto correct obviously does not know how frustrated I am!
So you opened the switch up so why didn’t you show what was the problem !!!! Good grief...😩😩😩

cheaply made and plastic, what did you think was the problem !
The switch is only $7 from Amazon. Contact repair doesn’t have a great success record. But do as you like, at least you’re trying.
