Bear Mountain State Park New York 2021 - Exploring Bear Mountain Inn, Zoo & Ice Rink

One of the great kid-friendly weekend getaways from NYC is Bear Mountain State Park New York! Travel during the pandemic is tough, but here you can enjoy lots of outdoor adventures, even during the winter! We live 20 minutes away in Cornwall, but in summer the traffic and parking is a nightmare so this was our first chance to go and explore! Come with us to:
- Bear Mountain Trailside Museums & Zoo ($1 suggested admission)
- Bear Mountain Inn (you can't go inside unless you're a guest, but outside is beautiful and they have a cafe as well)
- Bear Mountain Ice Rink ($5 to skate, $5 rentals, 4 and under free - no reservations online and there was quite a line)
We went ahead and bought our Empire Pass, $80 for the entire calendar year gets you free parking at most New York State Parks (which typically run $10 a pop, so if you visit just 8 parks in a year, you've paid it off, and this is easy peasy!). Highly recommend! If you renew before the year is up, you'll get a discounted rate for the next year, too!
