I had a gastric sleeve in 2010. Getting a script for Wegovy.
My main worry is with the surgery I already get full quick. I'm hoping Wegovy will reduce sugar cravings as well as balance glucose levels.

It will likely do both of those things. Good luck!

I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up because I was too young and I was already in the process of getting it done I did the test, the classes and etc and was about this close to get my surgery done but I changed my mind after I did it natural till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery and weight loss injections but I told him I’m doing it natural better because I sometimes gain the weight then loose it then maintain my weight but I did my research about bariatric surgery, wls, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😊

I have a gastric bypass and want to know how Ozempic reacts. One of the functions of Ozempic is delaying stomach emptying, but how does this work with my gastric bypass stomach, which is emptied quickly by drinking fluids?

It also works by slowing the small intestine. It makes the pancreas produce more insulin in response to meals. These together will aid weight loss.

I had gastric bypass surgery in 2009, and during the pandemic in 2021, I began regaining weight as I fell back into my old eating habits. In 2023, I successfully lost 35 lbss, but by 2024, I had regained it all, reaching 190 lbs again. However, after starting Zepbound October 1, 2024, my starting weight was 203 lbs, and now I weigh 165.2 lbs. My doctor is concerned about my rapid weight loss and has reduced my dose from 5 mg to 2.5 mg. When I inquired whether this rapid weight loss could be linked to my gastric bypass surgery, he couldn’t provide a clear answer. I naively thought losing 1 to 2 lbs per week on Zepbound was normal. I normally lose weight fast when dieting and exercise I guess due to previous gastric bypass surgery. Could the restrictions from gastric bypass surgery be contributing to my rapid weight loss when taking Zepbound? Thanks!

Gastric bypass can fundamentally alter how your body handles medications. It can ramp up your sensitivity to GLP-1 meds like Zepbound, so you’re burning through pounds faster than expected. Your doctor cutting your dose from 5 mg to 2.5 mg isn’t overreacting-it’s a safety move. If the rapid loss feels off though, ask for a deeper look at your metabolism and nutrition.

Can someone 3 months post op take this medication or only people who are long term post op?

They may want to 6 to 12 months depending on your weight loss before deciding though.

Taking Semaglutide which dose will you see results 1mg or 2mg or 2.4 MG. I just started I'm on Semaglutide. And how long do you have wait too see results. Also I need to know after you take Semaglutide which dose can you need to manage your weight it's the 1mg or 2mg or 2.4 MG.

The right dose of Semaglutide can be a bit like tuning a musical instrument-it requires finding the perfect harmony for your unique body and goals. The medication is slowly increased over time.
Results can vary widely among individuals, but many people start to notice positive changes in their weight within a few weeks, and certainly in a few months of starting Semaglutide. However, it's essential to remember that Semaglutide is not a magic bullet; it's most effective when used as part of a comprehensive weight management program that includes dietary changes, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.
When it comes to managing your weight long-term, the choice of dose depends on your specific needs and how your body responds to the medication. Some individuals may find success with lower doses (1mg or 1.7 mg), while others may require the higher 2.4mg dose. Your healthcare provider is the best person to guide you on the optimal dose to maintain your weight effectively.
Additionally, it's worth mentioning that while Semaglutide is primarily approved for the treatment of obesity and weight loss, some healthcare professionals may use it off-label for anti-aging purposes due to its potential metabolic benefits. However, this should be discussed with your doctor, considering your overall health and wellness goals.
