This is probably the most informative and realistic video I have heard. Definitely true I was planning on a reset diet knowing well it was BS! But I wanted so bad to believe it would work. The truth is my eating habits are horrible and I need to control and be more disciplined with myself starting NOW! Good luck everyone that’s struggling.

I was 330Lbs at the date of my surgery. After surgery (months) I hit 200lbs. I wanted to be 199 so bad haha i remember it like it was yesterday. As I am writing this I can tell you that I am sitting at 250lbs. I want so badly to get myself back to around 210ish. I was so in love with life so full of energy. I am going to do my best to achieve this starting today. Thanks for the heads up, its evident I know what i need to do.

It’s not ONLY “WHAT” you’re eating, it’s “HOW OFTEN” you’re eating and “WHAT” you’re eating.
Let’s face it, after the initial fabulous results from bariatric surgery, reaching and maintaining a desired weight STILL boils down to diet and exercise…
      Just like everybody else…

I often wonder if some people use the reset diet as a mental reset (as opposed to a pouch) to help get the back into the swing into what they really need to be doing

This is literally what I wish it could be renamed as is a "mind and belly reset". It makes you rethink how you eat and how much to eat. I am actually doing this "reset" and its been actually very eye-opening because I realized I was NOT drink enough water or liquids. I was grazing when I was bored, and grazing on the WORST foods.
While it won't reset my belly to be smaller, it just makes me realize that I was not using my tool correctly

Dr. Alvarez is my favorite place to come to for the best info. I'm a year out from my sleeve & have lost 80 pounds. I am trying to analyze why my weight loss seems to have completely stopped. I know I don't eat perfectly even though I am super careful about avoiding sugars and carbs, sometimes I have an occasional treat. I don't eat a lot but I probably eat too often. I exercise nearly every day and my tummy is an absolute monster! I considered a "reset" diet but instead going to take a look at overall calorie consumption since I stopped counting calories and only count carbs and protein. I think my calories may be too much over a 24 hour period. I hope to get at least 20 more lbs off before I get to 18 months post op. Thank you Dr. Alvarez for your consistently great videos!!!

I'm over 7 years out and had 2 more children, and slacked off with my eating habits and exercise, the reset button is remembering where you came from and continuing to improve yourself. Go back to healthy eating, exercise, drinking water...just doing healthy things. This video is motivating me to go back to the things I learned pre op and using the tool.

Thank you. The most intelligent advice & information that I have heard from a physician so far. I was banded 10-years ago. All of the physicians want me to convert to the sleeve..., why? It's not the device, it's behavioral. I started at 265 10-years ago. I am fluctuating between 217 and 220 to date. Hence, I have basically kept the weight off. I refuse to go back for another surgery because I couldn't behave myself and stop drinking an occasional rum and coke, ooopps.. Moreover, I still eat in moderation and exercise. I find it absolutely amazing when I see people who have gained twice as much weight with the device in place.

Thanks, Dr. Alverez, I had the surgery and started to gain weight again. I don't feel full after 3 or 4 bites like when I first had surgery. So where am I dropping the ball? I eat too much again, don't exercise like I should, and I'm lucky to get 5 hours of sleep at night. It's a shame I can't be handcuffed and forced to do it right. So it's on me and it's harder to change than kicking heroin (not to say I do drugs). Sugar is my heroin in a matter of speaking.

Hello Dr. Alvarez, I wanted to know if you can help me figure out why I am having problems losing the weight like I’m suppose to after a sleeve. On Sept 28 2021, I got the sleeve done as of today, A year later I’ve lost 33 pounds. This is not right. My way of eating did change, besides the fact that I do eat way less but I’ve added more protein in my diet. I’m not perfect with my diet but for the most part I have done what was suggested by bariatric. So I do not eat the way I use to, and yet I have not lost the weight that “MANY” others have successfully lost after the sleeve. This has been extremely discouraging and has made me feel like a failure.
Now I do want to add that during this time and currently, I haven’t been able to exercise the way I should because I had problems with my ankle to the point where I had to get my ankle reconstructed last month. Plus, I was dealing with back pain (sciatica) on and off where at times I couldn’t walk. So for those 2 reasons I couldn’t be active and exercise like I wanted to. Addition to this, I take antidepressants for clinical depression and lamictal for mood disorders. Can these medications be contributing to my problem? No one seem to know for sure, not even my bariatric provider. I really am at a point where I am convinced I will never lose the weight, and that I will always be a complete failure in this matter. If you do have the answer to my problem, then my next question will be
Do I still have a chance to start back on day one?
Oh I do want to mention that I did have another surgery done, my gallbladder was removed.

Well it sounds like you are really doing great. I have a uncle hat had the gastric bypass 2005 he weighed 461 pounds and in two and a half years he lost 254 pounds with diet and exercise like going to gym riding a bicycle some times as far as 20 miles a day. He had all this free time on hand because he had been disable from knee injury. He done very well . After the weigh loss and exercise he started getting back into old habits 17 years later he has gained back 180 pounds, so watch what you do don't start j going on junk food.

I don’t understand why I’m not losing. Unless I only drink water. The protein shake they gave me is what I drink and it made me go up when I started it after 4 days of nothing but water. I slowly added it in and follow everything they keep telling me. I was so frustrated that I decided to see what would happen if I only took in water on day 7. I lost one pound. Day 8 took in 1 low carb high protein 150 calorie shake and a 4 ounce glass of skin milk. It went up a pound. I was put on metformin because of this before surgery. I would fast for 3 days only water and my sugar would still be high. I know the liver dumps glycogen which makes my sugar go up. Which makes me hold weight. I’m so frustrated and nobody has answers. My team even said it’s not normal to go up in weight right after.

I had gastric bypass RNY January 2019. My heaviest recorded weight I was 355 pounds. I got down to 190. I met my now husband and had our little girl January 2021 while pregnant with her I gained 40 lbs I lost 25 right after she was born. Right when I returned to work I broke my ankle. Snapped my fibula in half. I was non weight bearing for months. I gained the weight back because before I was really active always on the go? Going to the gym and I ate a high protein/fiber rich diet. But I just wasn’t moving like I should. Now I’m sitting at 227 and I’m healed completely and back into the groove of things and going back to the gym. My problem is I snack at work. I snack on mainly sunflower seeds but I snack constantly cause 80% of my day is spent in a truck the other 20% I’m lifting heavy stuff and pushing heavy items hear to there but it’s just really hard for me to lose the weight. My sleep and vitamin intake could be better but as of today I’m going to make sure I get enough sleep and wake up and take my vitamins! Thank you for this video

I drink protein water-without the surculose/Splenda crap. I am intolerant to surculose-aspartame potassium…so all the protein shakes made me sick. I did bone broth, protein 2.0, and Pirq shakes (pea protein and no Splenda/surculose). I hope that helps

There are protein shakes out there w/o the bad sweeteners they are plant based, also check into the soups now that have protein for those that just had the sleeve.....they also have puddings and other types of foods other than shakes....check your local Walmart.....you can blend and make all sorts of things you can eat at your point in time.....check TH-cam as well ....
