You guys are obviously doing something special. So stoked to see Trey back in the hunt. Been a big fan of his for awhile now. I really feel like it's almost insulting for him not to be at Rogue after that crap event cost him so much.
Glad for Trey. More competitors that are hitting on all cylinders is great for the sport. I hope the money will come soon. Not everyone can win but they all deserve to be paid better for all the work it takes to be competitive.
I think strongman pays pretty good if your a Hooper, or Tom Stoltman. It's more the mid to lower tier (on a world level that is) athletes that could do with earning a bit more prize money. Just looked at the Rogue payouts. I mean Bobby Thomson got like $11,000 for coming 5th last year. That's not a lot for top sportsmen tbh.
Mitch is totally dominating strongman at the moment If Thor can get his pressing back he might give Mitch a run for his money But it was great to see Luke take 3rd after all his injuries he's had.. at the moment he's top 10 in the world .
I watched each event on TH-cam as they were shown. I think those new dumbbells looked nice, but I was surprised to see how easily the got dents from landing on the floor. The rule of "no rep" if the implement leaves the crash pad is stupid - the organizers should be able to secure the floor in a way, that the athletes get to drop the bell and get on with the real business, lifting the next one. They are strength athletes, not janitors.... I prefer the longer shows with 8 - 10 events, but this one was an OK shorter competition. Your thoughts about it were, as always, interesting to hear. Nice video 👍👍
He said in his video he could’ve done The stones but he wanted the fans to see Trey and Luke go at it for second place. So it was basically out of respect, but I gave him credit for it, especially since he has a rogue in three weeks.
Love your content. Mitch is an alien from a really strong planet! How come we don’t see more athletes from SCL competing in these bigger shows? Some of those SCL’s have some really heavy events comparable to the bigger shows in my opinion.
Evans Nana is the best strongman in SCL and he is not doing that well in GL. If you undeniably strong dude, GL will invite to there competition no matter in what federation athlete compete at.
Problem is SCL there is so many athletes who do GL but they need to show there worth against athletes who battling for that at OSG. Reyno Nel and Zielkowski are the few that are taking part
Grekov trains with Novikov, probably got the same coach as Novikov - Sergei Osypchik. Sergei also trained Wide Pavlo, many top powerlifters, along many other professional athletes from boxing to athletics. Sadly not too much information on this coach in english.
I feel like Rogue probably agree trey should be there but, with invites maybe going out a while ago (including reserves) then they’d have assumed he wouldn’t be ready. Like we all would have a few months ago. And now, what do they do? Tell someone on the list to do one? Or, as I’ve said before, there’s also the potential of insurance for trey this year being cost prohibitive. (That’s just a guess) There’s obviously a legit reason, let’s be honest. Rogue wouldn’t not invite him all being well. No surprise who won this one of course. Great to see Trey and Luke podium. We have loads of athletes that are top tier at some events, and one athlete that’s top tier at all events.
I agree it seems pretty obvious rogue just didn’t think Trey or Mateus would be back in shape when invites went out like 3+ months ago and Pavlo was likely on their radar after doing well last year. Pretty cut and dry situation imo
I feel like they can invite who they want to the invitational. It is an invitational after all; but for the benefit of the show, if hooper is there they should be inviting people who can push him. Unfortunately strongman has hit a bit of a lull for me with hooper being so dominating and with the only other man that can beat him outside of worlds not wanting to compete for giants then we need Trey in that comp.
I think trey is on reserve since pavlo was already a reserve in case someone dropped out which novikov did They had the roster awhile ago even when trey was recovering and didnt do as well during the smoe etc. Hard to just throw him in there when he just started to get better. To late to replace athletes
Good insight. I agree that only injury can stop Hooper from podiums. Did you see Eddie training with Biby. Unfortunately, Eddie ruptured his tricep db pressing 100 kg dbs. He’s been training for a fight and just isn’t conditioned for heavy low reps. Too bad he is learning the hard way. I feel bad for him.
Hey guys, love your videos, would love to see you discuss and promote more Irish athletes and competitions. Just a suggestion. With Sean, Rory, Cillein and the other Sean the depth of talent is getting better. We need people like ye to help promote them though.
Any chance of a video on what happaned to Janashia? A while back we has posting videos about training for 505kgs. Now it seems like he's totally off the radar. Such a shame...before his triceps tear in 2019 he was a real top level athlete.
I think he is done with strongman. I personally think, that he made a mistake by getting to heavy. He was doing way better when he was around 150kg, than when he got to 175kg bodyweight.
Rogue invitations were sent before anyone had seen where Trey is at post-injury and he wasn’t immediately good when he did come back. And when people pull out it wouldn’t be fair to the official reserves not to put them in. That said, at the first opportunity it’s not screwing anyone else over they should definitely invite him now.
I get it...still somehow doesn't seem fair. I'd hate to see anyone else not be able to go but Trey really should be there at this point. They should add 2 spots and call it a day.
@@mediaproof960 it’s not really fair to ask them to rearrange the whole competition around the surprise that he’s ready sooner than anyone thought either. No-one’s being an ass. It just worked out this way. I’m sure he’ll get an invite next year.
One of the best if not the best Giant's Live of the season. Feels good to get a fun comp in before what will undoubtedly be a weak Rogue Invitational, on the male side.
@@LalasBrothers Hopefully yes, I quite like the Invitational. They've had some of my favorite events the past couple years and I like the sound of these ones too. But invites go out to early, simple as that. Strongman needs a competition qualifying ranking system
I feel the same way. I like The Moose and never have anything bad to say about him but winning everything is making the sport boring. Really hoping Thor can beat him.
Ah I had no idea Trey had a coach but if he is his long term coach I hope he can work on Troy's movement and conditioning cause his grip is definitely improving and we all know his static and strict lifts are unreal if he can faster in his mobility meaning like yoke runs, farmers, medley events he could definitely challenge. I'm glad Luke Stoltman proved me wrong I was thinking this is his last year especially myself being his age i understand comps get harder on the body but he really made a statement and Evans Nana really impressed with this guy looking very big and stronger.
Why are you pissing on Kordiaka so much? This is not a question for the athlete, but for the organizers who have decided who to invite. I agree that Trey deserves to be in there. But there are other athletes whose form we do not know - Tristian and Bobby. Their last competition is the Shaw Classic, where Tristian has nothing to be proud of. Pavlo did not prepare for these competitions but is preparing for Rogue, which is his priority. It is not yet known how other athletes will perform. Let's see and then we will discuss.
My guy, we said it multiple times that it's nothing personal with Kordiaka, all we are saying is that Trey Mitchell, based on his current performances, should have been invited instead of Kordiaka.
Pavlo is my current favourite strongman. With that said, he is a good match for Rogue. You put him in the Arnold Classic hes gonna bomb it like that Oscar guy from Poland, however Rogue is a lot different contest.
Mitchs dominance is insane, it's not as much fun watching it. Was good to see Trey and Luke both back doing so well. Rogue I think only Thor can come close, but I am thinking Thor 2nd and Mitch 1.
Having two pressing events will make it tough for Thor even if he wins the other events like SMOE. Might come down to how everyone else performs but I would be surprised if Mitch and Thor win every event
Thor is the only one that can stop him damn. We can’t see him winning everything haha! Throwing, stones, and deadlifts are his only shot to beat hooper.
