    Hey Mike. My name is Sean. I just found your video tonight after having my first ocular migraine. Thought I was having a stroke. A little reading and TH-cam search and I'm positive its an ocular migraine. Everyone seems to describe almost an identical description. Your video stood out to me because you began to describe possible triggers and a few things you said got my attention. I also am trying to determine what triggered this problem. Right before mine occured i had been laying on the couch reading on my phone. The sun was shining brightly through the window next to me. I closed the curtain and returned to reading. I first thought that maybe looking almost directly at the sun for a moment as i closed the curtain might be the cause. That was until you mentioned chocolate. I rarely eat chocolate, but recently i purchased a box of Andes mints. They are little chocolate bars with mint in the middle about an inch and a half long. About two hours before my episode i had eaten about five of these little chocolate mints. Which for me is something i never do. Then i had my vision episode followed by a dull headache and dull pain in the back of my neck. Your video mentions bright sunlight, but what really caught my attention was your mention of chocolate and mint. Coincidence? Maybe. Maybe not.

      I have also not been getting very good sleep lately, only a couple hours here and there. Also fairly high stress and anxiety. These things are fairly common in my life being disabled. They come and go. This new thing "ocular migraine " i have never experienced in my life. Very unnerving.

      @@chachi1970 Hey Sean! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I wonder if it was the chocolate ? Have you had any more occurrences ?

    Prayers for you! I just had my first one last week and called an ambulance. :( so scary! I’m terrified this is gonna happen again. I also have the dull weird headache in the back. I feel bad calling it a headache because it doesn’t really hurt it’s just bothersome and makes me feel dizzy. Seeing neurologist tomorrow. My mri was good at ER. These are the worst! Definitely praying for us!

    I am not a sweets type person or chocolate. So I wouldn't say that has anything to do with my issue. I still think the only trigger for me is stress. I had heavy stress in my job and since retired, I have seen increased issues when my mom was sick and dying, again when my mother in law was dying both due to cancer. 100% my issue is due to personal stress. I would say now my issue is with my husband being an essential worker during covid, having to go out to grocery shop during covid. I am happy to stay at home otherwise, so I can only attribute my issues to stress from leaving my house because of grocery shopping and driving my husband to work so he doesn't have to take the bus. He is also a person that doesn't drive due to epilepsy.

    I really think they are triggered by stress..it could be chronic background stress.

      Sherry Stainback I think stress is part of it for sure.. certainly doesn’t help prevent them.. I hope all is well!

    I had 3 little snickers candy and the next day i had ocular migraine. But I don’t think it’s because of sugar or chocolate. I think it was because of junk food.... i have pain also after the aura and there’s a triptans for migraine pain but there’s nothing against the aura...

    • @uplatewithmike
      @uplatewithmike  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! I've had them back to back. Soon as I thought I was good. Then BAM! Started the stress cycle all over again. I hope you're doing well.
