It is good to know temp, but tune is tune ( sound and smoke ) mostly sound some engines run hotter than others some cooler another good way to check low side is idle for 20 seconds then stomp it, it should wheelie and take off like a bat out of hell with no stutter i am not perfect or an expert but tune is tune hope this helps all .... nice video and truck 👍
You are 100% right about the air filter! I could not even run my mad force kruiser with the body on with the kyosho air filter! You can modify it I think big squid did article where they show how the guy cut the air filter case on the mad crusher. I also find that these engines run better or are easier to tune using the OS #6 hot plug vs kysoho glow plug!
Hi I have the same engine using Torco fuel 20 percent has that been a good fuel to you in this engine I will in va and it gets warm in summer time so I know fuel is the key to succes thanks in advance Paul
I like Torco. 20 to 30 is good just keep the same % or you’ll have to re-tune the engine. Temperature is more for the plug type and not fuel. I would say stick with a medium plug for VA
That rtr is more than worth the money that they charge for it I will more than likely have my wife purchase me one for Christmas, that way I dont have to break into my own pockets to get what i have to have. thanks for the great video!
Hey bro, I'm trying to find a replacement engine for my nitro Foxx, it's the older version with the ke25 engine in it. What other engines would bolt on that application?
I have the older madforce kruiser version and it takes a lot of pulling to get it going. Once it starts it runs good but even after a good tune it seems to be hard to start. I run it around 200 degrees with a 2-3 second pinch off myself. My buddies are running their savages while I'm still pulling!!!
Rick's RC and more You probably have lost your engine prime from it sitting too long. You can re prime before trying to start. Put your finger over the exhaust and pull about 6 times with glow igniter off. The try starting. 2nd is to remove the back pressure fuel tubing on your pipe and blow into lightly. This should push the fuel up to the carb. Be sure to look for fuel in the line at the carb when blowing. When you see the fuel reach the hi speed needle stop. Then try start engine.
Sounds like its still a little rich...200° is the minimum you wanna run any ABC sleeve based engine....tune around performance and a good smoke trail, not temps....also,make sure your glow driver is getting the plug hot enough...if the glow driver has a bad cell,it wont let the glow plug get up to its full potential,in turn, making it a pain to cold start
Good day. I would like to know what is your settings in high speed needle, low speed needle and idle screw after your break in from fully closed. Hopefully you can help me with my Kyosho Mad Force with Kyosho KE25 engine. Thank you
I just picked up a mad crusher and I'm threw four tanks now. It keeps dying out every 40 seconds so is there any suggestion? High end tune is 3 1/2 turns out
I am following your steps for the tuning and for some reason the temp rises to 225-230. I’m brining the high needle down counter clock wise and for some reason it’s still hitting that higher temperature. Is there something else I should be doing?
kimberly govea 12% is more suited for after break in. So you will probably need to turn that hi needle more out to fatten it up more to get the temp down. Your not far off.
AL2 RC I also bought a 20% nitro and 16% oil but at the hobby shop they told me I can use it after I break it in, so I’m not sure if there was a confusion or I misunderstood. Also when you say turn it out more to fatten it up, do you mean clock wise or counter clock wise?
STEVO D 313 I will more than likely put another engine in it. Actually this KE25 engine has a restrictor plate on it. I may take it out to unleash more power. First I’ll see how it is in the first full force running.
Cool channel? Yes. Cool dude? I'd say so......As far as the tuning in this video goes, amateur at absolute best. I never understand why noobies at nitros decide to make tuning videos when they really don't know what they are doing in the first place. The only place a temp gun belongs is in the trash when it comes to nitro tuning. You tune by sound and smoke, tuning to temp will leave your engine running like a turd as evidenced in this video. leave this video up, one day when you learn how to actually tune and look back at this video, you'll understand what I'm talking about rather than thinking I'm being an ass. I really hope you stick to nitro and spend some time understanding how things like idle gap and engine heat saturation are big factors in tuning. A properly tuned engine can run at 285 degrees and nothing will break. The internet has taught people that an engine should never run "hotter" than "XXX." People that claim certain temp numbers represent a good tune are absolutely clueless.
xXG.L.HXx I agree with the tuning method you describe. That being said most people unless your racing will want to invest the time and trial and error to do it that way. The video is not intended for experts like yourself. It’s for us weekend bashers that need a safe way to tune without damaging our engines. It’s dangerous to suggest that someone tune your way without knowing what their doing including myself.
Dangerous is a strong word when talking about toy engines that can be had for as little as $120 on ebay. I never actually outlined how to tune but rather suggested that tuning via a temperature gun will not only produce a overall bad tune, it will not teach you the difference between rich and lean. Example: what do you do when your bottom end is lean and your top end is rich? Put a temp gun on the engine and it will mask the lean condition. How do you even know what a lean condition sounds like when you never learned it in the first place? You managed to seek out information regarding tuning before you started, unfortunately, the "tune by temp" info you are sticking with is not doing you or anyone else any favors. I'm not here to insult you or anyone else, we all start somewhere but why not do it correctly straight from the beginning? Trust me, the right information is out there.
Also, the "weekend" basher mentality is nonsense. You don't have to be a racer to learn how to tune. Many of us don't race but we tune our engines to ripass. RCNitronerds said it best, there's no need to be a flatline basher that never learns anything new and sticks to older flawed ways.
Talk about timing! We were just discussing this!! And people thought I was just being a troll....well, check out Adam Drake's video linked below. th-cam.com/video/OcFrgGMZTMc/w-d-xo.html
I warn people not to purchase these models, the kyosho mad crusher or the Foxx, considering they stopped making the ke25 engine and getting parts for these models is Extremely hard. Not to mention the upgraded ke25sp engine on the newer released models is also extremely hard to find online.. They are nice, but I personally will never invest in a nitro kyosho again.

Keen to see her flat out 😁 !! Awesome looking rig 👍🏻👍🏻
Just tuned my mad crusher and bought the same temp gauge it’s more accurate thanks!!!
