Vadacurry: This is NOT from Madras
Vada:
* Channa dal - 1 cup (soaked in water for 2 hours)
* Mint leaves - 1 fist
* Coriander leaves - 1 fistful
* Fennel seeds - 2 tsp
* Cinnamon stick - 2 inches
* Green chillies - 2 nos
* Oil - 2 tbsp
Curry:
* Oil - 1 tbsp
* Blanched tomatoes - 3 nos (puréed)
* Green chilies - 1 no
* Whole spices - cinnamon, cloves and cardamom
* Coconut and poppy seed paste - 1 tbsp
* Coriander leaves

Actually some how I feel this recipe as our traditional paruppuurundai kuzhambhu. Bcs அம்மா boiled and added the balls.if she fries the ball and added onion garlic then it may be the original vadakari .just my feel is this.paruppuurundai kuzhambhu in தக்காளி gravy instead tamarind water
