$7000 a month for that, what do people do to earn that kind of money? it's outrageous, what do they eat after the rent and bills are paid and to have to walk up 6 flights of stairs to boot, you've got to be kidding me.
6th floor walkups, tiny rooms. Resounding no way. But, im sure a group of starry-eyed young out of towners will happily pay that price to say they live in NYC, and help drive the rents even higher.
2 interesting suites. I like the 1st for the roof access and the layout of the kitchen. But sharing 1 bathroom with 3 bedrooms is back to my childhood. Not for 6.5 to 7K. Just saying.
I'm always confused why New York landlords always try to fit a full sized 4-burner stove with a full oven in a tiny apartment that only 1 person can live in and only has enough storage for 1 cooking pot/pan and no countertop space.
I can't recall a single time when I've used more than 2 burners on my stove, and I cook all the time (in suburbia). I was amused by the 4-way electrical outlet where there is absolutely no way four appliances would fit in that tiny bit of countertop.
I'm fine with the 4 burner stoves. You can still use that as prep space or leave your most used pot or kettle there. I'm more disturbed by including large dishwashers and putting wine fridges everywhere instead of cabinets. If there is no cabinet space for dishes, pots, pans or food, what use does the tenant have for a dishwasher?
The 2nd one had more counter space. That's all I've got to say really. The 1st had no counter space, but it had a washer and dryer, dishwasher and beverage cooler. I'll pass on both, though I still appreciate the restaurants nearby. But walk-ups? Hell no, not with my arthritic joints. Cash, I love these tours. I'd like to know where people work that they can afford these prices. Even when I was earning a high salary in Toronto, I would have been stretched too thin after paying the rent.
I'm one of those people living in a tiny space in NYC. Tip for dining and living room combo -- loveseat, an occasional chair, and a height adjustable round table. It works.
I'm too old now to do 6 flights. That aside I love both apartments especially the first one with the private roof deck. I would sleep up there. Price is what I would expect for the East Village. Cash your neighbourhood tours just keep on getting better as does your humour. You need to be on TV.
That's what I'm talkin' about!! Either his own sitcom about a real estate agent who plays himself on TV with three quirky friends. Or he plays ping pong with Fallon, winner takes over the hosting duties of the Tonight show for ten years. Or a little show on HGTV showing tiny apartments to little people who have won the Powerball. Y' know the kind of mad bank you need for these cool cribs! Oh yeah! How about it, Cash Jordan, a name that should be a household name? You're almost there now.
Happy Sunday Cash. You must live close to that apartment because I didn't see your bike. 80,000 dollars a year in rent. No sir. That's equity in a home. Anyway very clean apartments. Love a rooftop. Some of those angles in those rooms you have be a contortionist to figure out your bedroom designs. See ya
So if I'm willing to walk up five flights of stairs to share tight quarters with a stranger, get a mini-kitchen and almost no living room, and sleep in a small bedroom with a tiny closet, I can pay $3,500 a month. Yes I get laundry machines, a small upstairs area and access to a bit of rooftop, but I can get those things in bigger, better apartments just a couple of subway stops away, and maybe even have my own place for my money! The second apartment had another bedroom, but you'd probably use it for living space, there was no rooftop access, and it was only slightly less. Insanity!
I was thinking the exact same thing about the 3rd apartment. The room with the Juliet balcony is def a living room. Still a super duper ridiculous price.
I thought the first apartment was nifty. I could live there until I saw the rental price and my jaw dropped. Who would pay $7K a month for a walk-up apartment that size in an old building that is probably crawling with cockroaches? I get the neighborhood is desirable but for that price I would expect a proper size apartment in a new building with elevators and luxury amenities. It will be interesting to see what happens to these rental rates after the coming collapse of the world economy.
What is the deal with all the beverage coolers? You have a cramped kitchen with very little storage, but a decent sized fridge, so you squeeze in a beverage cooler? The space would be better as some kind of cabinet or drawer. The fridge is plenty big enough to store your beverages.
Ditto with dish washers. If you have used more than a couple of plates and cups at a time it's probably a rarity. Just wash them in the sink after you use them!
Landlords never live in these tiny apts, so they don't have the first clue of practical uses for small spaces. The beverage cooler is just their way to make a tenant feel fancy or some crap like that. Tokyo apts are way more functional for their similar small sizes, like 2 burners directly in the countertop and using mini-fridges that fit underneath the counter.
I felt so claustrophobic watching this! Especially when you crammed yourself into that "walk-in" closet and when you walked down the narrow hallway.😂I felt like I was inside that apartment.

Nice to see, but the prices make me kinda sad. I'm sure when those buildings were built, the rent was probably under $100. Once upon a time in NYC, rent was less the more flights you had to walk up.
The third apartment master bathroom I believe it was, the toilet was practically under the sink. I think whoever designed that bathroom made a poor choice in picking a sink. They should have gotten a slightly smaller sink with some counter space and kept it small enough that there was some space between the toilet and the sink. Just one person's opinion here. Other than that I got a tremendous amount of laughs out of the humor and wit that comes out of Cash so effortlessly...😂
The second one, I would make the bedroom with the balcony access a common area. Make it a 2-person unit with an actual common room for tv watching and gaming.
The second apartment is laid out better than the first one. However, 7 grand is way too much for these hovels. Like any other apt in a trendy area, you are paying for the neighborhood and the landlord is getting away with it.
Lol remember the days when $7k got you a luxury apartment, floor to ceiling windows in every room, a lift and a doorman and a place big enough to host dinner parties. This is ridiculous 🇬🇧
Here we go again ... $84,000 / year for a small 6th-floor walkup. Imagine carrying groceries up six flights of stairs twice a week or coming home from vacation ... to carry your luggage up 6 flights. Does it cost more to move your stuff into a 6th-floor walkup? At least it has laundry.
I'm sorry I know the history of the overpriced NYC apartment but Gezzus! We have really went waaaay, waay to far. I am 100% serious when I say you could literally buy that same building or a Hell of a nice 3-4 story brownstone where I live and your mortgage on it wouldnr be as much as they rent 1 of those jacked up tiny apartments for. I mean literally maybe half that peice to purchase an entire building elsewhere. I know for some people there is this mystery of NYC and all that. But when you have priced a place to rent 2-3-4x's more than people can buy a giant home and I do mean giant 5-6 bedroom with acreage in other beautiful parts of the country WITH money to spare, I think reality of the "REAL WORLD TRULY,, needs to be discussed. L❤VE from Kentucky!
This is for sure to get lost but I started watching your videos during the pandemic in 2020 wanting to move to NYC. Friday I found out I’m moving to to city for work next year after I graduate. Thanks Cash
About 20 years ago my uncle and his husband lived in Manhattan. They had a nice little apartment, 2 bedrooms, and 2 cats. The kitchen was tiny. But their rent was almost $3,000.00 per month. And that was 20 years ago!
Cash, your videos are great, but to pay more than $75K a year to live in a shoebox (even if it is pretty nice) is just too much. If I lived in NYC I would choose Brooklyn or Queens for the better value unless I could luck my way into a rent controlled place in Manhattan.
Blows my mind on all these apartments!. I live in New Mexico where you can find a luxurious 2 story house witj 5 bedrooms 2 to 3 baths 2 car garage for 1800 to 2100 a month ... you can find a luxurious big apartment for 800 to 1300 a montj witj a utility paid and has a gym and swimming pools .. shits crazy
To me the obvious setup with the first apartment was to put the kitchen/dining area on the bottom floor and make the top room the living room because a) it doesn't have a bathroom and b) you have to go through it to get to the upper deck. That being said, the bedrooms are tiny, and those weird shaped ones are less appealing to some of us who care more about wall space and less about the number of windows. Whoever moves into these is going to be in really good shape a few months later.
A six-floor walk up, no less....$1082.50 per floor until you finally arrive at the front door...daylight robbery! If I made enough money to rent that apartment, I wouldn't...
$7000k a month now let that sink in on just how much that is to rent $$$ going out the window… ridiculous and I don’t care that you have it to blow. Please don’t allow a landlords greed and rent this place bc it’s insanity.
I feel like we are playing a game of "what's the most we can pay in rent for the least amount of space,"! Omg, no way too small. Too expensive and wierd shaped rooms. Next.....!
I don’t know what the future of NYC will be with this unprecedented and monumental post-Covid jump in rents but it’s hard to imagine this playing out well. This feels unsustainable, but landlords are apparently making this the new normal, and without some kind of adjustment it obviously will be. I’m old enough to remember when BROOKLYN was the “affordable” alternative to the crazy Manhattan rents, and that era has long, long since passed. Even the far reaches of Queens are ridiculous now. Pretty soon the new “affordable” Brooklyn will be Newark, New Jersey. It will be interesting to see how this affects the employment dynamic in the city, even for high-paying jobs. My guess is there will be a lot more talented and skilled professionals who will simply not want to live in New York.
7,000? LOL that’s how much I owe to fully pay off my mortgage! (Yay!) walking distance from Whole Foods, multiple great restaurants, the best Art cinema in the city, a great library and a big beautiful park. Quite distant from NYC, But I moved away from the stress and cold of the east coast decades ago for a more comfortable life…. In Arizona. (The blue part, not PHX). When I want my city time I buy a plane ticket. 🤷♀️OR…I WATCH NYC REAL ESTATE CHANNELS like this one (thanks Cash! Always entertaining)

Nice to see, but the prices make me kinda sad. I'm sure when those buildings were built, the rent was probably under $100. Once upon a time in NYC, rent was less the more flights you had to walk up.
"No Thanksgiving dinner, no bubble bath..." Sounds like the lyrics to a really sad and old love song.
You can buy a pretty decent Rv/motorhome with that much money. Which would probably be the smartest option.
Prices like these are why I live in my parents’ basement.
....hey...THATS the reason.
I mean the highest price for a multi bedroom should be 5k. Multi bedroom in Brooklyn should be 3k. Multi bedroom in Queens should be $2800 at best. 🤭
I feel like the sink would be under my armpit using the toilet in that last place... lol. And where the heck do you put a bed in that rombus room?!
Was that a misspeak? Did he really say $6495 for an apt with really no kitchen, no living room and closets for bedrooms? Has NYC gone insane again.
Love the hair, Cash!
It looks like they made an apartment out of a hallway. It’s not that bad but the bedrooms are so small
Wow those prices! Enjoy the tour though. Thanks Cash.
The second one, I would make the bedroom with the balcony access a common area. Make it a 2-person unit with an actual common room for tv watching and gaming.
You could create a potted herb garden on that balcony, I think? Thank you for the video!
The greed of landlords is shocking
The second apartment is laid out better than the first one. However, 7 grand is way too much for these hovels. Like any other apt in a trendy area, you are paying for the neighborhood and the landlord is getting away with it.
Way to go Cash you killed Huey the hamster. It’s OK man just let it go. Love your videos keep up the good work.
That staircase made me slightly dizzy lol
Lol remember the days when $7k got you a luxury apartment, floor to ceiling windows in every room, a lift and a doorman and a place big enough to host dinner parties. This is ridiculous 🇬🇧
One thing Cash will always give is great editing.
Its a struggle to be positive about these incredibly overpriced apartments. They're clean and they have laundry. There. Thats the best I can do.
I'm amazed at the prices for rent in general. Love from Australia
0:18 🤣I am just now realizing that you use yourself for scale alot and it's both helpful and hilarious
💜 hope and prayers your in laws don't get hit too bad by the typhoon.🌀
I liked the first apt. This video definitely had "THE COOL VIBE" because your jokes awesome today!! Your haircut looks great!!
That bathroom sink is going to get tore up with that door slamming on those drunk nights! 😂😂😂
Cash, your videos are great, but to pay more than $75K a year to live in a shoebox (even if it is pretty nice) is just too much. If I lived in NYC I would choose Brooklyn or Queens for the better value unless I could luck my way into a rent controlled place in Manhattan.
I binge-watch these videos whenever I feel a bit regretful about having left NYC.
Love your sense of humor!!!
absolutely love the coziness but.. that coziness is not worth 7K a month.
I never think I can be shocked anymore, but $7,000?!?!?!?
A six-floor walk up, no less....$1082.50 per floor until you finally arrive at the front door...daylight robbery! If I made enough money to rent that apartment, I wouldn't...
$7000k a month now let that sink in on just how much that is to rent $$$ going out the window… ridiculous and I don’t care that you have it to blow. Please don’t allow a landlords greed and rent this place bc it’s insanity.
7:55 - No it is NOT a walk-in closet, Cash!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
Your hair looks great today Cash! I'm loving it!
It’s wrong that people are priced out of cities like this!
It's a free country. Go where you like and can afford it.
When you hear 7000 a month it turns this video into a comedy special when you see what’s being offered
I feel like we are playing a game of "what's the most we can pay in rent for the least amount of space,"! Omg, no way too small. Too expensive and wierd shaped rooms. Next.....!
I watch Cash’s videos so I don’t feel bad about my cost of living in Seattle. 😅
Good morning Cash!!! Appreciate you!!!
@𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐌 𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐇𝐉𝐎𝐑𝐃𝐀𝐍 My feedback is you are an obvious imposter troll
Oh, I so would put a small coffee machine on tiny countertop a front of the first apartment kitchen! Lovely.
I think the first one is pretty perfect for a 3 roomie situation. A roomie who is never around can have the bedroom upstairs.
Somebody.. needs to take New York, To Court..
Love listening to you. Seem like a friend you’d said before Hope your family ok!
Yea, No thanks!
Greetings CJ This is Gonna b so Good🔥🔥🔥👍….
Like your editing @ energy in this one.
Good haircut too. 👍🏻👍🏻
