I’m excited for this category of tire. I spend 90% of my time on the pavement but enjoy staying at cabins and getting to off the beaten path hiking trails. I don’t need massive traction but the added security against rock tears abs punctures with good on road manners is exactly what I’m looking for.
Real world experience these tires perform exceptional for me! I switched from the BFGoodrich KO2 to the BFGoodrich Trail Terrain and these tires did nice in full blown wet weather Washington rain. I only do light duty off roading and these tires work both on road and off road real world experience.
Good thing I saw this video and help me decide what tires should I put on my SUV. I think I'll go for Trail Terrain since I use my vehicle 80 percent on the road 20 percent off road. Thanks guys!
I put them on my gx460. I was in the market right when these launched and they were exactly what I was looking for. I had the Bridgestone dueler AT on a previous car so I was comparing against those. I felt like these looked better
These replaced the stock Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my 4Runner. Really pleasant ride that tracks well and are really quiet. No complaints yet but only about 3k miles on them. Time will tell how they perform in the rain.
The problem of the KO2 is the fact that it used to be the BFG all terrain T/A tire. It soared in popularity when it came out because of it's amazing performance, wear quality and price. However BFG decided they were made of gold and got greedy. They changed the name then increased the price by a ridiculous amount to where most average people can't afford it anymore for regular use. I used to run the BFG all terrain T/A on all my vehicles but the price is so high now with the KO2 I can't afford to pay the greedy price of BFG anymore. The all terrain T/A used to be only about $800.00 but with the new KO2 $1200.00 price tag it's just ridiculous.
@@richardbartlett6701 Actually it's literally the BFG All Terrain T/A not KO2. They simply changed the name and raised the price. Which I mentioned in my comment, soooooo......? You got a point here?
@@HandyManMike I ended up getting a different tire. My truck calls for LT tires and these weren’t available. I got a Mastercraft courser trail HD. Have been an excellent tire.
Im looking at switching to these, I have a 2017 2-Door Jeep JK with BFG Mud Terrains. Thinking these would be a better fit for my activity level and where I do most of my driving. More of a weekend warrior and commuter Jeep build.
So.. how does the trail terrain compare to the Cooper AT3 4S or even a highway tire? I seen your review of these tires and idk why someone would buy these if these tires are terrible on wet surfaces.
Ordered these in January and still waiting on them to be made by BF Goodrich, did they mention how long of a wait these will be until they are available?
Hey TJ would you be able to provide me information on where I can purchase a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A not KO2 in Canada please for my 2022 Toyota Tundra SR 5 Sport 265/60/20. Thank you
Thank you for reaching out. Unfortunately, the BFGoodrich Trail-Terrain T/A is not produced in size 265/60R20. We apologize for the frustration this may cause.
I'm excited to see more from this new line up. I have AT's on my truck now and I feel that they're just barely overkill since most of the time, I'm on pavement. It'll be a toss up. But In all honesty, if the KO2 was made in the upper echelon of 17's as a P-Metric and not only an LT, it wouldn't even be a contest. But considering that it's just too bulky of a tire for my truck as an LT, I'm not even considering it. But this is a refreshing sight to know I have something I'll be on the market for since I am a BFG fan. I'm excited to see long term results as well.
Does anyone know if you can buy these tyres in Europe??? I'm really struggling to find them. After 235/65/17's - any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm based in the Netherlands. Cheers
Trail terrain is the perfect tire, off road if needed, but lets get real, 98% of people never leave the pavement, this tire gives me the ability if needed and good for snow, but won't kill my MPG's for daily driving.
Hello there, I am a subscriber of your channel and a customer of Tirerack. TJ Campbell interviews are valuable information for me and I am sure for lot of customers. I have a critical comment that hope add quality to your videos, it is just about Mr Campbell need of makeup to reduce the shine of his face, I noticed this immediately just because I used to work as a portrait photographer. Hope this help and add some value to your videos. Congrats on an excellent job 👍
I bought a pair of them just to try them and I ended up getting the full set for a fwd minivan. They are great. Maybe not the tire for the minivan, but I can get a wheelset and transfer them to a light dutty pickup I have. I also intend to get them for a brand new Mazda CX50 along with a wheelset because in Mexico it is unacceptable to have a 235/45r20, specially for an adventure oriented awd crossover/suv. The only thing I would say against them is that they are not the best for heavy rain. The rubber is great, but they dont evacuate watter as well as the rest of the tires from BFG. Just one thing, please consider the fact thar many medium dutty and heavy dutty vehicles spend 80% to 90% of their time on pavement and the most offroad they see is a logging trail, a construction jobsite, a dirt road that leads to a ranch or similar. If you guys make them on LT ratings, you will sell them as OEM and replacement tires for mid size pickups, full size pickups, almost any van, light dutty trailers, compact pickups, almost any SUV, almost any crossover and there will be a number of people that will even put them on a sedan. Well, they can even work on a Charger police to give it better capability on grass and dirt roads (if you make it on a size that will fit). This tire should be available in any size you can think of (except for compact sedan, that would be ridiculous).
Terrible design when the shoulders are a solid rib without open channels to evacuate water/slush/mud etc. This design does not allow water to evacuate to. The sides which causes hydroplaning. Mud cannot be ejected either.
Ya I will never buy a tire for my suv with closed shoulder tires. I’ve had the same experience. Maybe because my tire size is wider. If the shoulder tread is closed off I get hydroplane issues especially as the tire ages.
@@Nono-rh4lr couldn’t agree more! It should almost be an illegal design for that reason. The same goes for installing directional snow tires on backwards. I see this occasionally and wince. Instead of channeling water/slush/snow away from the centre, it is forcing everything into the centre. Huge safety issue that people don’t understand and greatly increases risk of hydroplaning.
Do you have these tires? They have a much more rounded footprint, so i feel like they ride mostly on the middle lugs when not aired down. On my truck they are the same as a KO2 in the rain, but much more solid on snow and ice.
Do not buy these trail-terrains..if doing any off roading.. I live on a coffee farm-Hawaii on a hill side, need 4x4 just to go home..a little wet and these tires have very little grib..Jeep Compass Trailhawk.. I also own. All of the tires in this class are very good tires… it just may be lacking in comparison to the others in some categories. I personally like the tread pattern and the aesthetic of the sidewall design of the KO2s so for me I’d sacrifice 10 feet of stopping distance. These tires are still going to do better on the highway in wet or dry conditions than a KO2 would.

Glad to hear, I also had ko2 on my last truck, loved them except it hurts fuel economy, was looking for a middle ground and this might be it!
BFG Trail-Terrain are amazing! Great in the mud, snow, dry, and rain conditions along with offroad with the Rav4 while towing. Kudos to BFG

I’m interested in something between a KO2 and a Trail Terrain. A 60/40 on/off road split would be ideal for me.
I'd say something like the Toyo open country AT3 tyres as they're pretty decent at everything.
Fuel mileage was a very big comparison I would've like to seen.

No, falken wildpeak trail maybe. Those Michelin are even less aggressive. (More for highway etc).
