Thank you my engineer. I have also relative in Zambia. The family of late Byarunga Luciano. Who was a former employee in civil aviation authority Zambia but Ugandan national. Thank you thank you
My pleasure too my engineer. The name was Byaruhaga and his son is Asiimwe Byaruhaga Christopher married to lady Cecilia Byaruhaga their still in Zambia .they have lived in Zambia over 50years.
wow!❤ good job simple and to the point. even a child in grade one can follow . infact if a child in grade one can not understand your explanation then you are not doing a good job
You subtract it if its size is significant. Remember you also need to provide for cases where some blocks get damaged or you under-estimated which is more likely than over estimating. You do not have to rely so much on the contingency provided because that's only useful beyond reasonable doubt.
@@theladyengineer it is a ordinary flats two bedroom ,kitchen, living room toilet and bath Thank you just wanted a estimate of cement ,gravel, red sand ,steel and blocks 24\30 Thank you much it is just for an idea that I may not be less or more
The video is just a guide even for the layman. In construction we normally don't calculate the exact quantities, you have to provide for losses and damages on site as well. So this way of calculating will ensure you cater for all that, however, bear in mind that you still have to subtract the open areas such as doors and windows because those would definitely be too big to provide for contingency.
The critical point that Eng. It needs to clear our minds on it. To me, it is going to work perfectly for small projects, but for big projects, you are going to have a lot of blocks left behind

Thank am helped
Thanks a lot for this, but madam what if the wall has a ring beam?
What exactly is your question? Do you want to calculate materials for the ring beam? Do you mean to subtract that part?
To subtract that part so we can only know the number of blocks only on that particular wall. U only told us how to subtract windows and doors.
You subtract it if its size is significant. Remember you also need to provide for cases where some blocks get damaged or you under-estimated which is more likely than over estimating. You do not have to rely so much on the contingency provided because that's only useful beyond reasonable doubt.
@@theladyengineer Alright understood, thanks a lot for the help madam.
Do you do BOQs?
I want to build a 24\30 house how many blocks I need to buy from foundation to complete Thank you
You need to have a schedule of materials made for you provided you already have the design
@@theladyengineer it is a ordinary flats two bedroom ,kitchen, living room toilet and bath Thank you just wanted a estimate of cement ,gravel, red sand ,steel and blocks 24\30 Thank you much it is just for an idea that I may not be less or more
very nice work Eng. just want to ask why you didn't consider the mortar?
The video is just a guide even for the layman. In construction we normally don't calculate the exact quantities, you have to provide for losses and damages on site as well. So this way of calculating will ensure you cater for all that, however, bear in mind that you still have to subtract the open areas such as doors and windows because those would definitely be too big to provide for contingency.
@@theladyengineer alright, well explained. Keep on doing a great job!
Where are you from dear?
Zambia
Nice video, but u have not catered for the mortar joints
The critical point that Eng. It needs to clear our minds on it. To me, it is going to work perfectly for small projects, but for big projects, you are going to have a lot of blocks left behind
We cater for any eventualities like crushing, theft and demolition in case of a mistake. It's always encouraged to over design in construction.
Thank you
You're welcome
thank you
You're welcome Ali.
Now am interested in construction. Some of these things are not thought in schools. Thanks alot
You're welcome Daniel.
