I have been a huge believer in thresh top for about 3 years now ever since I started watching Cryo. Seeing this video felt like a fever dream. A few tips for people that just watched this video and want to try Thresh Top: 1. have a look at CryoBeat on Yt like Happy Chimes said at the end of the video if you haven't already, he's the OG Thresh Top player; 2. Dorans Shield is almost always a much better starting item than Corrupting Pot, the mana management comes with practice but it's not undoable and Dorans gives you a much easier early game. 3. Frostfire Gauntlet was nerfed for ranged users (bcs of frostfire Senna abusers) and it doesn't work well on Thresh; 4. In this build I would go Shieldbow, which provides the shield and utilizes well the Lethal Tempo. If you prefer a tanky option, Sunfire Aegis works very well on Thresh; 5. HappyChimes said at 7:17 that Thresh is not a split pusher, but his wave clear is good, honestly if you take TP instead of Ghost, there will be a lot of potential to split push and apply pressure on the map. A good alternative to not having Ghost is simply to buy Chemtank as Ghost has less value than TP for Thresh in the landing phase. 6. Titanic Hydra has incredible synergy with Thresh's autos, usually a very good 1st item even considering it has less value for ranged champions. Buying it as a second item is not bad either but because it is so expensive there are better 2nd item options 7. And lastly, Grasp of the Undying is a very good primary rune on Thresh Top, it's very easy for him to stack it vs melee toplaners, and I would say better than Lethal Tempo in most matchups. Either way, enjoy your Thresh Top games and may the Lord Cryo bless your souls' rng :)

Thresh top is great for one thing, wether you're good with it or not, it's getting an S. If you can't get an S with thresh to get a case or to level him up, playing him top is great because your score also depends on your farm, and when you have 200+ farm with thresh, you're almost guaranteed an S if you're not 0/10.

You beautiful bastard. I swear to Ra I just started playing thresh and thought, hmm, solo lane would work with a bit of tuning. And you release this, what a legend.
I've played lots of AD Thresh and he's been given ridiculous scaling with souls. In special game modes like Nexus Blitz, OFA, URF, etc. Thresh gets 2-3 souls instead of 1 when collecting. This means you can scale extremely quickly in the fun game modes. Whenever I see Thresh in these modes, just build him full AD for a free, and very fun, win.

Conq stacks extremely slowly on ranged, and Thresh has long cds, especially early game. His E dmg also has a floor equal to 100% of his souls, which means attack speed directly takes advantage of his soul farm. In fact, his E dmg ceiling is based more so off his total AD than his souls, which means to take advantage of the ceiling you'd need to buy lots of AD items. It's much easier to build as an attack speed tank if you want to fulfill Thresh's primary game plan of being a control tank. If you want to be wacky and take advantage of his E ceiling, you can try crit items to get a massive auto attack in between long wait times, however it requires you play completely different than Thresh is designed to play. So I would say Ady's strat is overall more doable.
@@rainix3098 I agree and also dabble in thresh top always going grasp. but my point in that if what you wanted was long extended fight damage then conq would just be better
@@oinkleberry ah, I see what you mean. you don't want to build ad as much as just building attack speed for the soul damage. that's why he goes berserkers

I will be real, (don't take this as hate, I genuinely love happy chime videos) this pick is simply not viable in the top lane, sure he can now do something more by pulling his enemies towards the tower buffed damage. And his peel for team fights is useful. But alot of people think about the mid and late game. Forgetting that the early game is way harder than the video may show (trust me Ady can do it because he is a challenger player so his spacing, awareness, and decision making is different). It is true that if you manage to have a decent early game, you will be very useful in the mid game. But as a tank you will fall in the late game compared to the other top lanes scaling.
@@landenwatson2443 Mad respect to cryo for playing what he likes and trying all sort of stuff, actual reason I started trying thresh top for some time, but as you mention he makes it work, but does not reach challenger/high elo (correct me if wrong have not seen his content for some time)
This is weird in wild rift thresh is considered the best tanky support. He is even viable in top lane in a similar build to what eddy plays. To be fair thresh has highest carry potential into full ad teams, and would do decent against some ap assassins. Note: even better than the likes of nautilus and alistar
Although I’m sure that the people who play thresh top are having fun, and I’m very happy that they are enjoying the game, good god do I hate being on the receiving end of thresh top
Yeah, Thresh is a decent matchup against some bruisers but it absolutely destroys fighters and assasins, Thresh mid is unable to lose lane against AD assasins and is good roaming and invading, if you build heartsteel there's few mages that can poke you out and if you got like 45 souls at 10 min you can easily kill them if you land a hook with lethal tempo.

why lethal tempo not conq? you gain your e passive the longer you don't auto so you attack speed doesn't affect it and it's most of your damage
I would say grasp is the best for charge onetaps xD
Wouldnt conq make mote sense for thresh top? Idk about how good is what rune i didnt play league for like 3 months
played back in the days thresh only with ad and as and carried the whole team
I suffered Thresh too a couple of weeks ago. He destroyed my Fiora so bad.
Bruh, you neeeeeed to try crit thresh with grasp.
It's so goooood
Just did a Sylas support a while ago. It is actually fucking OP and so good no one expect a lvl 1 kill. HAHAHAHA THANK YOU SO MUCH happychimenoises for this new cheese pick! I can pop any squish champs 1 v1 hahaha
Oh yeah are you talking about Cr- ADY, of course, obviously i was about to mention him
I was going with crit and hp with tempo (that was s11 I guess it would be even better now)
Is Lethal Tempo better than Hail Of Blades on thresh? I'm not very comfy with that
much much better
Played Thresh top with Botrk first item. Actually strong vs lots of champs. Destroys champs like Nasus early.
Man, my wild rift matchup is filled with this now, and they're not even winning top. Big sadge
Bad Matchup is just nightmare to play in top line
I mean you can look to cryo for someone not challenger who makes this work
@@landenwatson2443 Mad respect to cryo for playing what he likes and trying all sort of stuff, actual reason I started trying thresh top for some time, but as you mention he makes it work, but does not reach challenger/high elo (correct me if wrong have not seen his content for some time)
The Weakest Cryo Enjoyer vs The Strongest ADY Enjoyer
I love how this is offmeta while on my server and Gold elo, this is just a piece of a cake.
As a top laner.I prefer seeing off meta picks like this than seeing an adc being forced in top lane.
I played with a thresh top a whilr back he ended up caring the whole laning and mid game
This is weird in wild rift thresh is considered the best tanky support. He is even viable in top lane in a similar build to what eddy plays. To be fair thresh has highest carry potential into full ad teams, and would do decent against some ap assassins.
Note: even better than the likes of nautilus and alistar
Can I ask how to do these strats without getting a ban?
Although I’m sure that the people who play thresh top are having fun, and I’m very happy that they are enjoying the game, good god do I hate being on the receiving end of thresh top
Yeah, Thresh is a decent matchup against some bruisers but it absolutely destroys fighters and assasins, Thresh mid is unable to lose lane against AD assasins and is good roaming and invading, if you build heartsteel there's few mages that can poke you out and if you got like 45 souls at 10 min you can easily kill them if you land a hook with lethal tempo.
I have been doing this for the last 2 months, I just do Guinsoo's rageblade, kraken slayer and bloodthirster and it's over if i hit a Q
Now here's something League is missing a lot, ranged tanks, mabye because it's harder to balance? But it would still be cool to see more of them.
