    Beautiful Bull snake :) saw one for the first time walking my friends neighborhood in north Scottsdale (horse country). The hotel in Patagonia looked really cute and I love the yellow poppies, they are gorgeous.

    What is the reason for the re-route?

      I'm not entirely sure. I know there was a "work zone" on one of the roads, but I'm not sure what kind of work.

    We call those snakes rat snakes down here...

      In addition to rat snakes, AZ has a subspecies of gophersnake, the Sonoran Gophersnake.

      @@susannesadventurejournal1920 Different color, but almost the exact same patterning as the rat snakes here.

      @@susannesadventurejournal1920 My mistake. They are of different biological Genus. We do not have gopher snakes here, but we do have lots of rat snakes (I relocated at least ten last year from my hen house). Your photo of the gopher snake looked very similar to the rat snakes we have here (patterning, not color).
