Many friends tease me about being a professional hiker. I do have a day job that keeps me quite busy helping people sell homes. Give me a call when it comes time to move:

Rock Corral Canyon is one of my fravorite places on earth. It has an amazing history. It's walking distance form civilization yet very remote and rugged. I often venture into this canyon when time permits.
Over the years I've explored lots of spots in the canyon, including Piedras road. However, never went beyond the road itself. In this video my parents and I hiked just beyond the end of the road. Then the next day my friend William and I returned.
Towering high above the south ridge is a very pointy peak without a name. It's height is 5459. Piedras road seems to point nearly straight at it.
Additionally, looking at the south slope from the north side you can see a flat area. Apparently years ago a treasure hunter commissioned a bulldozer operator to grade part of the canyon in search of the lost Guadalupe Mine. It was never found, however, I wonder if Piedra's road was cut to get that bulldozer back in there.
Only one way to find out! Let's go have a look...

Thanks! I really appreciate that. Takes a lot of time to make the videos but really enjoy doing it. Glad you like watching them. Hopefully you can get out there yourself. I just started by walking on forest service roads.

@@isaacguzman1993 oh cool, we stopped on that ridge. Should have gone to top. Unfortunately both of us were already running late / took too much time exploring.

The trail with your parents looked very inviting to do in the Jeep. That was a nice little camp site meal area. Did your parents like hike?

Yeah they hiked to the end of the road, and a tad further then the trail faded out. That would be an excellent backcountry site to camp at at the end of Piedras road. Your jeep would make it no problem. I took my truck back there which is wider. However, that one spot I pointed out in the video is a bit washed out. I'm super nervous about that stuff... but certainly should be more than good enough. And it's such a minor spot a quick road repair could be done on the spot. It actually looks like somebody had done that since I drove my truck back there. Also probably a great place to spot animals. My guess is that trail was well stomped down by animals. Not necessarily people.

Us old timers called puncher can openers "CHURCH KEYS"

That's so cool! I've found TWO of those cans now in the wilderness here. One still said Pepsi on it! I was so excited. I told my mom about finding the other can then she said they called them church keys too but I didn't capture that part on camera :( Thanks for watching the video!

They are only church keys when you are opening a beer. With a soda pop they were just openers.@@exploringgodscountry
