You have a good ear. That continuity of sound from one drum to the next is the very definition of a good drum line. They play very musically as well with great dynamics.
I was just 9 years old when the USMC band came to my hometown, Dayton, OHIO,,,1967. The family went to this concert, can still remember it well. Sadly I think back at that time and visualize all those guys in Vietnam at that time.
That SSgt out front has at least 16 years of active service. When I was on active duty, you'd expect to be a GySgt by then. People should take note that not only are they playing excellent music, but much of what they played was written BY a Marine - John Philip Sousa was a SgtMaj in the United States Marine Corps. Watching them strut their stuff stirs my heart.
I freakin' love this. Semper Fidelis (VMFA-134, HMH-769). My beloved mother, God rest her soul, loved to watch the Marine Corps Band during the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Not only does this Marine Band attend parades - they also serve our country with a selfless service but will fight for the freedom from tyranny and oppression when it rears its ugly head in the world. Thank you so very, very much for your service and I hope that one day war will be over and peace will reign over us all, and none of our sons and daughters pay the ultimate price. Let us truly give peace a chance.
@@isopath1 He was joking-----and called it the MARINER CORP-----both words spelled wrong. But who the heck would know what the best US Marine Band would be-----. Actually the best Marine Band would be the DC based Band.
Oh, is that what happened? I just thought they decided to repeat the intro phrase again at the end for whatever reason, maybe made the change at the last minute, and the two trombones just forgot. I didn't know that was normal practice if the DM screwed up. It DID seem to me that drum major was inexperienced, being only a SSgt. and his rather stiff mace movements, especially cadence mace.
What the hell are you talking about, "only old people"? There were quite a few younger people (20s, 30's, 40's) there. And as someone else pointed out, this was a Friday afternoon, when most people are at work or school.

A real military band is a band with soldiers not hired musicians with only a basic military training. Like in the Legion etrangere. No fat people ( I myself am overweight but a real soldier shouldn‘t). Sad enough the British army uses hired musicians, You can see it. Marines don‘t.
@@uropepe Actually, yes the USMC does. The fleet bands (of which this band is one) and the "Commandant's Own" United Stated Marine Drum and Bugle Corps are normal Marines, trained normally (boot camp and MCT), and are deployed to combat, but the "President's Own" United States Marine Band are career musicians that are "hired". When they enlist, they do not go to boot camp, instead reporting directly to the band at Marine Barracks Washington, and they start at the rank of Staff Sergeant. This is why they wear special rank insignia which have a music lyre in place of the crossed rifles.
The Royal Marine Band members all go through the same basic training as regular Royal Marines except they do not do the Commando training. They are full time serving members of the British military and serve where ever the military is needed, and have served in such places as Iraq and Afghanistan where they serve as medics and drivers as needed. It is my understanding that the regular British military band members are also fully trained as fighting soldiers and train likewise so I don't know where "uropepe" is getting his or her information from.
Alot of people do not realize these are battle trained soldiers, just not excellent musicians. If called into action, they would trade their instruments for a rifle. And go to war.
Yes, that is the way to pronounce the attention command in the US military. The drill manual actually does say it's supposed to be "attention" pronounced normally, but if you do actually do that, everyone will think you're weird.
