Here is episode 2 of Zero to Hero, we hit level 80 and have a whole slew of things we need to do now. I appreciate the feedback and comments so please keep them coming! Thanks for all of the support thus far, im working on getting a good content upload cycle set for this channel and especially this series, however i am a busy man so i do my best- keep an eye on the community tab for updates if there will be delays!

So with this account (sorry if you clarified this earlier) but are you grinding gold to get gems to unlock the expansion content or did/will you purchase them with real money?

I bought all the expansions from jump. With the "complete elder dragon saga" bundle.
And to clarify I'll be grinding gold for all non content gem store stuff later on in the series.

That part about doing a new expansion off a fresh character with bad gear really hit home for me when PoF released. That was ROUGH.
Do you think that new players ought to prioritize maps like Bitterfrost Frontier and Dragonfall sooner rather than later for stat selectable accessories? Or rather what is your strategy going to be for getting accessories for your build?
I didn't realize how horrible it felt. Literally took like 30 minutes just because mob by mob was so slow
0:59 Lol, I felt the cut away without succeeding at that jump in my soul. I still have no idea how you’re meant to do it other than try 30 times and get lucky.
Getting Lost at 80: Even for experienced MMO vets, it is a lot. You’re entirely right that it’s heavily on the player to have looked up builds/intro guides/etc. I just knew that good builds must exist, so I looked up the meta as a baseline-but the game never would have taught me just how big a gap it is.
I recently saw an old video where the creator showed target dummy dps in just “what ever they hit 80 with & hitting some buttons” (~600-1k) vs “literally just auto attacking in full berserker gear” (5k+).
Having now climbed into T3 fractal lfg, it amazes me how many people on explicit dps builds even in T3 fractal clearly don’t have fundamental grasps on their builds, turning in sub 3k dps on all encounters.
But, the game never tells the player that they’re under performing. You clear or you don’t 🤷♂️
Wizard Vault: It’s so clutch. You just get 3 ascended armor for free, and a weapon. For most specializations you can get the HoT elite spec ascended weapon, one of the five knight of thorn weapons, and the wizard vault weapon box for an instant, ready to fractal build.
The gold from WV also makes just mystic forging the quiver of 1000 arrows easy if you find yourself desperate for an ascended back piece.

I wish the story auto continued to the next step instead of the limitation that you can’t select the next step while in the instance of the final part of your current step.
It’s small, but it would help with giving some direction and keeping players engaged.
The silver waste sample build on level boost is also a kinda neat thing, but… man I wish that like, story rewards or something somewhere could just be 3 full sets of exotic power, condi, and healing gear.
Let players naturally acquire those sets by just progressing, have a little blurb about how “wearing full exotic of the same or similar stat combinations in all slots is almost always the most powerful way to play.”
Bonus points if there is a Quaggan quest that gives players exotic underwater weapons and forbids them from leaving without equipping them 🤣
I don’t think these sets will meaningfully change the economy-the existing exotic price is tied almost entirely to expected salvage returns. These won’t change that since they probs can’t be salvaged just like the celestial set the level boost gives.
Hey pied, yeah that jump without gliding murdered me. I'm getting the swing of things, I find myself going "oh fractals" only to realize I do 3k dps. I'm going to get gear and specializations first with exotic gear initially and build up ascended pretty quickly. That will all be coming soon, key mastery lines are also in order. But I'll likely be in a meta build before too long
@@SilhouetteGaming1 I’m really interested to see if you run into the same experience points bottle neck that I did.
I know you won’t rigidly stick to going to areas in line with the story like me, but for both Tyria and HoT masteries I kept finding myself with 20-30+ mastery points I couldn’t earn enough exp to actually spend.
It’s only just now that I’ve fully unlocked 3 of the 4 HoT and the LWS3 lines that I’ve finally run into needing more mastery points. I’m at 3/12 points for the skill to remove chalk acid on dodge roll.
This has lead to a chronic bottleneck of not having enough spirit shards, which has crippled my ability to craft ascended weapons. I don’t really want to spend other currencies on the weapons cus that would set back various super useful legendary unlocks.
Since you are willing to skip around more, particularly ahead to strikes, I wonder if you’ll naturally bypass that experience points bottleneck.
Wow, as you were listing the masteries that I now take for granted, I started to realize just how long a road it is for a new player. No lack of things to try for, but man…no auto loot?? 😬

Yeah no auto loot is horrible it's from central tyria masteries, but that's only one that I've found is kinda annoying. I'll be curious to see what else I run into, I'm sure it's coming. Got quite a bit to power through
I would love to hear your take on legendary gearing. I’m at the point where I’m trying to get a full legendary setup, and I’d love to know how you’re going to go about gearing up with legendaries and in what order. I love PvP and WvW and PvE, so definitely open to whatever is most time effective

Yes, idk about superior but it is strong for sure.
@@SilhouetteGaming1 I think it's also due to me playing with a friend who goes either herald/scrapper which makes our might stick at 24-25, compared to ~20 with fb/ren

Yeah you don't have to. Some people like them I personally only hit PVE ones because limited playtime.

The only thing I would change if I started over was which type of instanced content I would start with. I would start with Raids instead of fractals. It's easier to get into Fractals, but the real fractals experience starts at T4 anyway, and I'd need Ascended gear + Agony Infusions(100 gold if buying +9 from TP or weeks worth of fractals to get enough +1 when climbing from lower tiers) for it compared to just Exotics w/ no Infusions on Raids. It was EASIER to get Ascended on raids via rewards/magnetite shards compared to Fractal Journal Pages + Relics & rarely from the reward chests.
Because of that, I only learned to play a "hey dps" Dragonhunter since he's the only one I had geared w/ Ascended + Infusions that I can use on T4s. Can't really learn Raids + Fractals simultaneously due to limited time. If I started w/ Raids, I could easily buy exotic berserker gear & use my numerous bladed armor boxes for non-core stats since I usually catch LEG doing VB Night Meta.
And Finally, I'd prefer getting Legendary Armor & Ring first compared to a Legendary Back + Infinite potions I can only use in Fractals lol

Thanks for watching! I'm going to be doing raids and stuff too on this character to show how to get started or get into them but I'm still a little ways away (gear rip). Might be able to swing it this week if I can get elite specs, gliding, and updrafts but to form my own group I'm going to need a tag... which is another hurdle.

I would never want to start over at this point. Just recebtly understood how important achievements and item collection was in this game so currently just unlocking stuff as i make first legendaries.
What i wish i could do is go back 10 uears ago to the start of gw2 with my understanding of the game and the new joy ive found in it.
Oh I love the game, that's why I'm willing to do this lol. I'll be doing some legendary crafting myself here before too long.
my tip to new players if any of you are reading this, I would recommend start with a simple berserkers power build, if you want to play condition damage or a healer build, just keep in mind it will be a lot more expensive and more work to set that up specially when it comes to ascended gear which you need for fractals.

No cringe for missing Skyscale--tbh, its verticality changes so much about the way you move in the game that it's hard to /not/ miss.
Missing the Commander tag is interesting; I hadn't thought much about not having that, but not being able to tag up to lead a meta that's in need of a Commander would be rough . . .
When you want to raid or do specific content it makes things significantly easier

I like storytelling style. I feel the same whenever i need to make something new in game. I made my first strike group for the 1st timem becouse nobody was making 2 strikes i needed. So 9 ppl joined in like 15 sec and 6 of them whispered me about what role should they take. And i was like: dudes i just pushed 1 button to create a squad what were you all waiting for...
Yeah so most people don't really like making groups tbh I'm not sure why. I'll be getting a commanders tag as a priority item for sure.
Depends on what your intentions are to make these videos. Are they to encourage new players? Are they to show real life of a new player? Because of the whiteknighting of this game community many of the videos are about how all is dandy and other side of spectrum is quitting videos. Would be fine if you could stand in the middle. Show how new players can find information, how is LFG at the moment, how many training groups there are. What other sources can players use to join said training groups. How much time it takes to get ascended gear, how to get it. What achievents you need to do first?
I recently started a new account (bought POF+HOT when they were on discount) and almost spilled my coffee when I realized I cant glide :D
Gliding was a big one; I have a ton left to do and ideas but the title was relative to the general feeling of being lost after hitting 80

There was just a little too much crying in the comments section for me to not respond. I don't want to give them too much publicity or be too mean because I honestly don't really care- I haven't had any communication at all with the guild I ended up in and I've repped 100% it's the perfect setup lol

The guild community argument is ridiculous. Habing 100% guild rep uptime doesn't mean you are actually involved in the guild. Likewise, you can be heavily involved in a guild and never rep it. Requiring 100% rep is purely a power trip moment

I wouldn't let the guild people's comments get to you. Nothing you said was bad or in horrible taste. There's something to say -- without being inconsiderate -- that being an outwardly LGBT gamer or some other minority does unfortunately make you predisposed to the assholes of the world who use their anonymity, and that this natural tendency to hearing flack for your identity makes them, at points, a little too ready to call bigotry on simple jokes. It comes from an understandable position (if I was constantly belittled for something, and then someone made a joke about it, it would be easy to conflate with being belittled) but I don't think you should let it reflect you as being horrible or anything.
Anyways, excited to see how you get into fractals and strikes with your intro gear. Can't wait to see how you tackle the challenge of getting into LFGs with low AP/newer character.
My job is literally being a women’s, reproductive, and LBGTQ+ rights advocate. This is my entire professional life. I am super dedicated to being the evil woke deepstate they all warn you about.
…and I’ve always found that if literally the only thing a community has to advertise itself with is the bare minimum of “we aren’t assholes,” they tend to not be great.
Still, im glad those guilds exist for visibility and for the people who prefer them. I’ve just never felt super at home in them, and we aren’t all equal if we can’t take the piss a bit.
I live in California, ive been around the movements my whole life, and as adults I think we all know the difference between jokes and harassment. The vast majority of comments were positive things- just a handful of people were offended. You're right it's likely they have a very low tolerance, but it doesn't change my intention, so I stand by my actions.
