- Hey Guys,
So after 25 hours we have a full specialization, gear that isnt complete garbage but isnt optimal, and are able to do Wizards Vault objectives easily, we need to continue working through the story to unlock key areas and continue optimizing gear so that way we can fully emerge as a hero and command raids and work towards our Raid Legendary Armor.
This is all happening pretty quickly, while we are doing that, we are getting our personal fractal level up, spending a little bit of time in WVW, and will be working on unlocking our mounts and key mastery lines.

being hero in this game is knowledge wise, being able to do all end game contents, know how to craft legendries, know how to make most efficient gph, know how to zerg, roam in wvw or know how to reach plat in pvp etc etc. so u are already hero, you have all done it.

Thanks man, yeah I only play about 2 hours a day if that, some days it's like 45 minutes and that's with daily/weekly for both accounts. I try to incorporate at least one element to highlight as a community resource or something like that so there's some value outside of just being able to watch someone play. Once I get into raid and endgame strikes it might turn more towards content guides / guides on how I navigate achievements. We will see how it flows once we get there but I'm glad you're enjoying the videos.
loving the series! I sometimes think of doing something like this with an alt account but I end up getting discouraged. A tip for any armor/weapons you want from the TP, search with the filter for the stats instead of searching for the name. There are some cheaper options that simply don't have the name, for example zhed's armor is berserker light armor which is dropped from mobs so it's cheaper than the crafted items which do have the prefix.
EDIT: These are known as named armor. There is also "temple armor" which can be bought in the cathedrals in Orr and the Cathedral of Silence has berserker as one of the choices.
Little late for me now, but a great tip, I looked it up but didn't see it. I haven't used the TP to gear a character in probably 6 years! I'll highlight this on episode 4 :)
Zero to hero, to me, are long form gearing guides. The end is going to be when you get most of the main gear and account unlocks. One thing I've never seen in any guide is showing off good combat habits. A combat tutorial is something GW2 desperately needs, and it's amazing no one has capitalized on that market. About facing in open world PvE and chaining movement abilities to practice movement in down time is a very simple exercise. It's not the series priority to focus on small things like that, but I think it would help a lot of new players to see simple, emulatable behavior.

1. I’d say do the soto method as it’s the most efficient these days
2. Id consider hero to be full legendary + QOL upgrades, lots of liquid gold, and clearing all the hardest (or maybe step down from hardest) content

For fractal climbing:
Don’t forget that you can host daily lfg groups without a tag and without the personal level to actually start the dailies. You can select any fractal the highest person who joins can select from the console, so just throw the lfg up.
You also gain access to the next lfg tier a few levels early, so you don’t really have to just focused climb/grind.
On “Hero:”
I don’t think it’s full legendary-because that’s running the danger of just defining it as “do literally everything.”
Imo, zero to hero is all about a new account to a point of feeling like you’ve got mastery over the game in some way, like anything is doable for you and comfortably so.
So, all legendary trinkets, legendary relic, full set of legendary sigils and runes, but not so much weapons and armor. You would need to be at the point that you feel you can readily swap to any build in less than 24-48 hours though.
Similarly, not necessarily 100% masteries-but at the same time no more content is locked behind them either. You’ve got everything unlocked, and you have done anything people will ask for “proof” of having done before done at least once.
A hero account can still have goals-challenge modes, more legendary weapons/armor, hard titles, etc, but at the same time it has no problem starting any new goal-it can be fully geared and min/maxed with little or no effort.
Soto skyscale is probably what most new players should do or those that haven't gotten it yet. Hero is just having the knowledge I guess? And the experience, can get whatever you want with those if you put the time eventually.
Definitely like your approach to the series, Teapot just streamed it all and used tp to a friend most of the time, but I guess it makes sense since it was all done live, where yours is basically a proper new player experience. You even leveled the character, talk about commitment
I noticed that too, it's easy to get things done when you TP to friend when dragons end is going on literally every day. DE isn't even up when I'm available to play.

And a Hero for me is when you did every CM, Raid etc. in the game.

Skyscale via SotO is easier, faster and more comfortable. But through LS 4 it is a nice (but at times tedious) collection. Having the Skyscale masteries from LS 4 grants some minor improvements on the Skyscale abilities.
A hero for me would be a character that is fully geared with legendaries (armour, trinkets, weapons) that can do all normal endgame content, maybe the easier strike CMs (no Harvest Temple, no Temple of Febe).

Lmao I forgot I said this. I just finished auto loot literally 10 weeks later after bitching about it.
I would say full leggy is a beating the game point. You dont need any gear or goldfarm at that point. You just log in to hang out and do some things for fun. But still there are achievementhunt which will take more time then full leggy there is fractal titles, that are again require more time then full leggy... So may be being geared and skilled for a casual CMs in all roles is actually a point when you are a hero. Getting full leggyes is just a hoarding point. You can have full leggy gear and not being able to beat fractal and strikes CMs in that case i would say a player is not a hero but only a casual hoarder... I also vote for SOTO skyscale
Your note on fractal titles hit home. I ran out of stuff to do so went back to GW1 got GWAMM and upon returning got Fractal God.
These weekly updates are easily becoming something I look forward to every time. As for your questions I feel like I have to echo what others have said: a "hero account" looks like it has gear to fulfill each role in the game (quickness, alac, heals, dps) in Ascended quality with appropriate runes, sigils and relic. It ought to have a commander tag for open world meta events and for WvW squads. It should have all of the mounts in the game with most of the associated masteries. And I think lastly it ought to have a couple QoL additions like an extra tab or two for your bank, maybe a bag slot, and maybe a luxury item you can't live without (copper salvage kit, lounge passes, teleport scrolls etc.).
Since you're in the thick of it grinding masteries, what is your approach towards grinding mastery exp? Is there an activity you prioritize over others when it comes to filling up your SotO, Core, PoF, HoT and LW mastery tracks?
1. I wouldn't mind seeing the SOTO method for Skyscale!
2. Definition of Hero: able to complete the most difficult content in the game, have the resources to acquire any stat combo/build (includes a legendary or two), completed the story, and finished the masteries most important for QoL and game progression (like Arborstone, the mount masteries, gliding, Autoloot, Itzel Poision mastery, etc.).
Excellent video. What is a Hero? That’s the ultimate question. Because this game is so wide, that answer is difficult to nail down. Full masteries-I’ve been playing since launch and still don’t have all the masteries. 😂
Level 80, all mounts, ‘critical’ masteries, a good guild with friends and lots to do, that’s my definition of Hero. You have that, you’re in a good place, enjoying the game.
Masteries are a big one, I definitely miss the mount masteries, but I have quite a bit to do before I start POF. I think I'm gonna do the SOTO skyscale, seems to be the popular vote.

I can’t simply decide if I wanna be a huge berserk smashing opponents or a ranger with a longbow/greatsword. Or a sneaky thief with elite spec as a deadeye. I think I need help 🫣

I'd recommand ranger, it's ur best option as a 1st character since u can play as healer, dps or boondps
But choose the one u enjoy the most playing; personally I'm a huge fan of the thief anesthetic

Ultimately you can have multiple characters, the vast majority of the unlocks are going to be account unlocks.
For Beserker's gear, search for the proper stats on the trading post and you'll find the SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper sets from End of Dragons (I think) that already have some decent runes in them. Take your cost from 2-5g a piece down to 40s-1g a piece.
I did try this method but the only level 80 TP gear for light was what I showcased, for heavy there is Devonas gear which is significantly cheaper. Overall I'm sitting at about 20g post gearing thanks to convergences and strikes.

15k AP, 1 set of leggy armor, 1 or 2 trinkets and 1 or 2 weapons in leggy, full clear all raid wings and strikes (no cm or anything) also 100 fractal.
That would be my definition of hero. So start grinding boi ;)
That's light work 🗿💪 but honestly not a bad goal to set. I was thinking something similar. ~ 1 legendary of each gen raid armor, and trinkets -conflux -coalesence (even though it would be alright if I could get a decent w6 group) we shall see.
for me even though a quite long stretch hero would be a full set of legendary armor light or medium or heavy, 2 legendary weapons, maybe 1-2 accessories like a backpiece or so and at least a clear of all content not necessarily the cms
That's kind of where I'm sitting too. Going to do two gen 1s, a gen 3, leggy armor and a backpack probably. We'll see but we are getting pretty close to the leg armor grind at only 2 months and ~115 hours played.
I think "hero" is very subjective. You are a hero if you feel comfortable with your progression. Does it feel like you can access all the content you want to play freely, or are there still barriers (missing masteries, pay walls, subpar gear, etc)? Is there still qol stuff that annoys you, but could be fixed by further progression? Do you want to have a few toons you can switch between, or are you happy with one? But it definitely includes having someway to represent your accomplishments, like maybe a fancy title, or weapon skin, or something fancy from the gemstore payed for with gold. My "hero" is likely going to look very different from your "hero". For me the griffon mount feels like a hero-worthy accomplishment, but someone else might consider that standard.
Thanks for the thoughts! I definitely feel like mounts are not necessarily "hero" level achievements but I can see why people feel it is hero-worthy. I'm working through that collection now.
To me Hero has to include that quality of life stuff from gems. Yknow some extra bags and bank space. Maybe that one mount skin you really like. Like “yeah I’m so good I have the paid stuff but didn’t pay”
Also I think SotO skyscale is more “realistic.” I guess maybe newer people might wanna see the old way, but as an old person I want to see the new way

10:23 As a mainly PvE Enjoyer, I'm still annoyed by the fact that Vision & Aurora which are mainly PvE Legendaries via LWS requires a Gift of Battle 😅
Obviously I suck at PvP so roaming is a no-go, and since I'm from Asia, it's hard to play with a zerg due to different times. My best bet would only during weekends or get lucky and manage to find a Commander from Asia or Oceania. Oh well, baby steps even if it takes weeks/months.

I'll be doing jewlery for sure maybe minus coalesence or conflux, but I might still do those but conflux takes a lot of time in WVW so I'll probably forego that one.

Congrats on doing in 25 hours what took me 11 years. I mean I quit for 10 years, but still I think I have like 500 hours in the game between two stints. Anyway, assuming you aren't dropping tons of money on bags, how are you managing your inventory space?

I think you should be careful with how many masteries you are going for at first, I would overflow some exp into spirit shards, cause you will need them to fill ascended pieces, even if its just a stat swap. Not having them is suffering.
Also I have been wondering ever since I geared out my NA alt, but legendary is kind of a waste of time. For what it takes to get 1 piece of legendary gear, you could make 10 or 20 ascended ones + you can buy a bank tab to store them in, some equipment tabs too and have gold left over. It kind of made me regret how much time i put into getting full legendary on my main.
This is actually something I haven't considered, if I recall spirit shards are only available after the mastery line is maxed out though yeah? I remember being hard locked out for a while because I was short points on my main acct. I'm not sure that was ever changed. I'll be blasting HOT for this week's special bonus for sure so I guess we will find out.
@@SilhouetteGaming1 the way it works is, if exp goes into a mastery track, then you wont also get spirit shards. However if you let the mastery bar max out and dont click the button to spend mastery points to unlock the mastery, the exp overflows into the "hidden" spirit shard track. So you may be better off just leaving a track as is for a while.
You can also leave a track on one xpac maxxed out to collect spirit shards there, while leveling a mastery on another xpac map.
being a Hero for me is to not gatekept anymore by KPs/LIs
A Hero account for me would at least need to have gear that can take on all content in the game (minimum ascended with 150+ AR), every mastery that adds mechanics/content to the game (e.g. Nuhoch Poison mastery or Skimming the Depths, but not necessarily something like the Convergence mastery), and have beaten all content in the game at least once (bounties, raids, fractals etc). PvP-wise, access to ranked is a must. Don't know enough about WvW to make an informed decision, so maybe access to most significant masteries?
Don't really understand why the Commander Tag is such a high priority. I get that it can help with gathering people to do a specific activity, but does that justify the 300 gold price tag? Surely just looking for a squad in lfg would do the job most times, no?
do you think staff mirage is viable for a chill build for a newish player, i keep hearing people say its good to solo content and chill out lol

@@SilhouetteGaming1 thanks I can’t wait to see. I got a soulbeast at 80 now and I just finished getting my skyscale the PoF/LWS4 method.. it’s a grind but you can work on thinks like the achievement for the legendary amulet and also Visions trinket along the way.
How are you getting into any group content? On NA I find no groups for strikes or fractals.
I make my own groups usually and they always fill. Commander tag was my first buy

No, named armor is only for berserker, carrion, clerics, dire, rabid, rampager and shaman gear.
