Thanks for watching and remember to comment below with your thoughts & feedback!
This was an insanely good run-down for the rules. As of posting this comment, I have not watched the whole play-through, but your 28ish minutes explaining the rules really opened my eyes. During the monument upgrade portion, it finally clicked like a light bulb coming on. Thanks so much for posting this video. I play my first game of this tonight, I'll let you know how it goes!
Thanks for the playthru, this game wasn't on my radar at all and looks amazing. Also, solid rules explanation as always (kudos to Kenny for the assists).
Sweet! If you're interested, order it quick...it's OOP at the publisher level and won't be reprinted for a number of years, is my guess. Happy to help and the Peanut Gallery has our back :)
Oh, I was on that before the playthru was done. Y'all (including the Peanut Gallery) are awesome... if a little bad for the wallet ;)
Keep the Splotter Games coming! I would love an Antiquity effort considering it is getting a reprint soon.
Enjoyed the video, thank you!
Great vid! I hope Indonesia will get the same treatment:)
Alex man, if there isn't enough direct aggression in TGZ I'm afraid you won't care for the others either. I've played TGZ, Indonesia, Antiquity, Greed Inc, and FCM and I feel TGZ is probably the most directly aggressive of the bunch.
With that rule error, it would be greatly diminished. (Sorry I didn't respond earlier but since your comment wasn't to me directly, I didn't see it until now.)
I think the cow math works out that it wouldn't have changed the game ending, but if you are forced to pass through a monument when counting range, you must pay the hub cost even if you would have been in range without the monument there. This mostly came up with the red monument next to the throne maker. In general, it also gives an extra useful dimension to slow down opponent upgrades, especially for Obatala, Qamata, and the nomads which can use it to greater advantage.
@10:30 You don't have to USE the newly acquired specialist if it's the nomads or the builder. You still have to PAY them though.
44:10 it doesn't have to be of the same type. You do not even have really place one, you can also just choose this action, not placing a craftsman but increasing your prices, regardless of the type.
That's how I interpret the rules. I am wrong?
Isn't _UR: 1830 B.C._ a tad simpler of the Splotters? Or does the canal/pump mechanism make it more complex?
I apologize for not making my comments earlier in your other video but the rule you interpret @15:34 isn't correct because all a new craftsman needs to do is provide access to a new resource for its craftsman type.
Once you get this rule back, you'll see that the interaction will be a lot higher. Gone will be the days where you can plop down a craftsman with a price of 2, willy-nilly, because you'll have someone put the same one down, one square off, with a price of 1 and your craftsman will be largely ignored until all the resources on one side are used up.
this game is great
