To the reader it made sense that the show ended at season 6. Laconia's role in the Expanse saga becomes important in later books. The "Strange Dogs" story in the cold- opens give hints to this and is a short story. Books 7-9 could make up a whole new TV series or maybe a really good movie. The short stories tell more about the back stories or futures of a number of characters (Amos, Bobbie, Paulo Cortazar, Erich, Cara and Xan, Philip). These are all hinted at in various places in the show. They're all worth reading. The "Strange Dogs" cold-opens should whet your appetite for the rest.
I hope you're watching the X-Ray bonus features. Marcos draws a distinction between the rock-dwelling Belters and the deep-space Belters. The one production decision I regret in this series was the omission of Prax's sub plot. The story of how gentle Prax became a rebel against Marcos' goons was interesting and even funny. He befuddled them by being the paramount plant guy that he is. I'm pretty sure that Holden made the wrong call as far as the war is concerned. Destroying the Pella would have killed the Belter leader, the heir apparent, the most capable sub-commander, and their most formidable combat vessel. Marco had not created a functional chain of command...the Free Navy would have collapsed into its former factions without him.
Please watch the bonus content (x-rays) alongside each season 6 episode, if you can. I've seen other reactors watch them after they've finished the season, but some of them contain things that relate to a particular episode so it's really best to watch them together with each episode.
It was good to see Prax again! I don't know if I would have made the same call as Holden... fortunately, I won't likely be in such a situation to find out. Looks like there is going to be a showdown coming, and I am looking forward to experiencing it again (albeit vicariously).
Ty, one of the authors, said that there is a parallel between not killing marco and apparently in the same way as the allies preferring not to try to assassinate Hitler. They both make tactical mistakes
Hey Imon, are you considering to read the books? At least the three last ones, to get closure about the protomolcule arc. The story about cara and xan (the two kids from the beginning of each episode) is a direct adaption of the novella "Strange Dogs", which is set between book 6 and 7. The real gravity of it you will learn in book 8 - which may be the peak of all the novels. But this whole last trilogy is a real blast. It is great, that everyone can finish the story of The Expanse, even though the TV series was canceled for now or for good. A chance not every fan of canceled shows get. So, go for it.
The Expanse was never cancelled. The original plan by Amazon was only 3 seasons. Alcon Entertainment, the IP rights holder, has always stated they intend to finish The Expanse. Just gotta wait to see if Amazon decides they want to finish it, or wait for Amazons lease on the distribution rights to be up and Alcon can shop for another.
@@alexanderpauli2835 book 8 was wild. I can't even put into words how hard it was to put down to eat or sleep at times. Cause, you gotta have priorities!

Another amazing reaction Imon ❤❤😁😁.
Holden made a bad choice when he disabled that nuke. He put Naomi's feelings ahead of ending the war and now the war will drag on because of it.

You need to listen to the audio books after the TV series. They are awesome. Laconia is prominent. Let me know if you need more info.
